Trappers Turn Golf Club - Canyon/Arbor

About
The 27 holes of championship golf at Trappers Golf Club are spread across the rolling countryside of Wisconsin Dells, a landscape that was carved by glaciers thousands of years ago. The terrain provided an incredible canvas for course designers Andy North and Roger Packard to work with. They first designed 18 holes, the Canyon and Lake nines and then added the Arbor nine in 2000. The golf courses can be played as three different 18-hole combinations. The Canyon/Arbor Course combines the old and the new. The Canyon is home to Trappers Turn's signature hole, the par-3 seventh, which has an extreme drop in elevation into a small green that sits amidst a glacier-formed canyon but it is not as intimidating a hole as it seems. The scenery continues onto the Arbor nine, which borders the Rocky Arbor State Park.

Great late season shape!
Played 18 holes on this freakishly warm November day. The greens have recovered fairly well post being aerated. Fairways and tee boxes are in excellent shape given the time of year.
November Golf
Thank you Golf Now for the Hot Deal! First time there. Very nice course. You have to hit the ball straight on the Canyon course. The Arbor course is more forgiving. 72 degrees in November in Wisconsin I couldn’t have a better place to spend my day.
Great Staff
Staff was friendly and accommodating. I was a single player and they made the effort to pair me up with another 2 some and got me out a little earlier.
Father, Son and Grandson Golf
This was my 1st time at Trappers Turn. I am a 67 year old golfer and enjoyed a wonderful round of fall golf with my son and my 13 year old grandson. The course layout is magnificent and was in excellent shape. The most challenging holes were the par 3’s. I hope to play Trapper’s Turn again sometime.
Like Putting on a Picnic Table
I have been to Trappers several times. I for the most part like the course. We only go when there is a deal on Golfnow.com. This past week went in the morning on a beautiful day. I can tell you this was one of my least enjoyable rounds of the summer. I have played 75+ times this summer. Putting is my thing. I can always make adjustments to the greens. The greens on this day were the most absolute unfair I have ever seen greens. I don't mind missing or even three putting once in a while. I actually had a four putt on 12. The greens were unplayable in my opinion. I will not go back. There are too many other courses in the Dells area to play. Sorry Trappers! No more for me. The beer is off the charts expensive. If you want a fair course with a good price on beer try Cold Water Canyon. Played there today and shot a 85. Nothing special I know, but at least we were treated fairly.
GPS
The GPS in the cart we had didn’t work and the person we talked to in the pro shop indicated that it was new and needed a few rounds before it worked. I gave it two more holes, talked to a different person, who sent a replacement. The person that delivered the replacement cart said it happens all the time. This should have been the outcome the first time I called in.
Laying out
Every hole was excited don't know what coming up to see.
Not Wild Rock but real good
you better hit em straight here as Trappers Turn will challenge the lowest of handicapps...some tight holes. Well kept. Greens that moved. Great value at $70
Trapper’s Turn
Pleasantly surprised at the beautiful condition of this course.
Great Staff
I was greeted by staff member Brent Geffert with a big smile and warm greeting! He took us to our cart, made sure we had everything we needed for the round. Great customer service! Course was in great shape. Will definitely recommend.
Resort Golf
The level of service here was off the charts, we rolled in with a group of 12 and they had signage out to welcome us in and genuinely seemed excited to have us. Not sure if this was due to the early season COVID restrictions, or because we were there on a Thursday, but either way it was a great way to start our trip and set the tone for a fantastic day.
The food and beverage was reasonable and ready fast which is always a plus. The cost of the round with the Wisconsin Classic Golf Trial was $65 which had us feeling like we stole something based on the conditions. Being associated with a Dells resort is normally a great way to ensure heavy play, but with the recent restrictions the course was in perfect shape with minimal divots on the tee boxes and fairways.
This being my first "resort" course it met and exceeded all my expectations. The layout was great, a few treks between the green and tee boxes might make walking a little tough but not unbearable. The greens were fair and true, faster than the courses we came from. Practice facility was set up really well and when starting on the Arbor course, was right on the way to the first tee. There is a variety of tees to choose from, something for everyone and playing around 6,300 didn't seem too long and gave some opportunities to attack some par 5s in two.
After playing courses in the area for 5 days, and playing the other resort courses, this left a lasting impression on me and in my mind as the highest rated. The value I got with the Wisconsin Classic Trail book will be really difficult to beat.
