Nice layout
Enjoyed the course and layout. Greens were nice, traps not maintained. Needs mowing between fairways. Challenging course, some hills, some water, pretty location. Starter was entertaining.
Worst Golf Course in Florida!!
The Gainesville Country Club has a name that denotes quality, but it is a 1000 miles from that. Very very poorly kept greens, fairways, tee boxes, and bunkers. Should have known when you arrive at 9am and there is only 2 cars in the vast car park, something is up!!! Layout of the course is superb... but it seems as though it has been left to grow wild, probably the course ran out of money. We did see one grounds keeper on a mower, but this would take him 2 years to bring the weeds on both rough, fairway AND on the greens under control.1st tee box was a mix of patchy dry soil & sand base than grass and it did not improve from there. It is a pity as you can see it was once a great course with the tree lined fairways, but sadly that was probably 10 years ago.. This should be removed from GolfNow as the dissappointment creeps into your game with each hole.. The 18th was the best hole, reasonable tee box, proper fairway and 5/10 green.. But alas it is far to late to think positively by then...
Absolutely Awful
I’ve been playing golf for 35 years and I’ve never seen a course in as bad shape as this course is. Apparently their fairway mowers are broken right now, and yet they’re keeping the course open and charging full price. My group lost no less than five balls hit right down the middle because the fairways are 3-4” high right now.
On top of that, I had an 820 tee time and was told I needed to go off the back because they booked a men’s association tournament at the same time. The first nine pace was fine but of course the second nine took me almost 2.5 hours to complete. Unless I hear that something drastically has changed, I’ll never play here again.
Shocking
Cart path only ,brown greens unmowed fairways, bunkers muddy not raked, flags not moved in ???? Only people on course for hours . The good.no snack bar vending or ice machine. This was a members only less than a few years ago.
Condition poor
Fairways need weed eradication and mowing, bunkers unplayable, tee blocks bare and weedy, greens neglected. Not much else to say, may not play here much longer. Our group is approaching revolt!
Very poor condition, like it’s about to close
Terrible greens, fairways uncut, bunkers -no sand, weedy- greens mostly dead. Range was a mess. But golf carts worked. Not worth playing, course layout looks like it was a beauty .
Neglected conditions, bunkers as bad as can be found, greens dead, dirt - no course maintenance.
Very disappointed, did not meet expectations of mediocre. Not 3 stars . Seriously
Staff were nice
The course can be better. Fairways poor and greens fair.
Horrible
Had the first tee time of the day. Get there on time and they are letting a group of 12 shotgun start on the 18th. Finally get through this. Then run into a foursome on the back nine. Great course-Absolute joke when it comes to management. Just save your cash and time
Don’t expect to go off at your tee time
Had the first tee time at 7:30. Didn’t tee off until 7:50 because miraculously members were in front of me. Played through them. Then get held up on the back nine? Don’t waste your money or time. The course is great, management is horrible.
Weeds, mowing
Can’t understand why they don’t mow the green approaches and around playing areas. Weeds continue to thrive in fairways and around greens. Course is in decline. April is the time when aggressive effort to restore and grow the grasses. No sign of that effort.
Disgusting
Disgusting shape looks like they are letting it go
Greens were the worse I’ve ever seen
No where to buy lunch or get a drink
Man in the clubhouse if that’s what you could call it was not friendly
Fantastic layout
This course must be a top course when in good condition. The layout is one of the best I have played in Florida.
Not a single hole was like another
Elevation changes are fantastic especially for Florida which is 90 percent flat
Neglected
The course is declining - speaking as a 20+ year prior member of the GCC, the course continues to decline through neglect. The very limited staff tries to handle the workload, but they don't have the equipment necessary or the staff numbers to keep up. Tee blocks, fairways, approaches, bunkers and greens all need remediation. Active ranger needed on weekends to maintain pace of play.
Needs Work
Really hope they place can turn it around. Young management and some of the staff kind of just do what they feel. Second to last time I played the older guy with a mustache forgot to mark off my Golf Now tee time and they reported that I didn’t play. Golf Now hit me with a $170 charge two weeks after I played. Took an additional two weeks to get it refunded, with limited help from GN customer support or GCC.
Showed up a few months later to give it another shot. Waited an hour for a cart and had the same mustache guy try and give me a hard time like it was my fault they overbooked and didn’t have any carts. Only reason we got a cart was some older fella playing 7 holes and turned the cart in. Said it was the worst conditions he’s seen the course. Great layout but weeds, dead grass, and sandy tee boxes are in almost every hole. In their defense, I don’t thing the employees are giving much of an incentive to try. Seems like most are just getting through the day. Kind of sad for what use to be the premier course of Gville.
Horrible condition
Horrible conditionThe tea boxes we’re all sand in 5 inch weeds. The worst condition golf course I have ever played
