Great
Great, but some kids who live in one of the houses played in the fairway. Be careful.
Overall great.
2nd game here
Enjoyed the course a little more second time round. we were please to see the conditions were good especially after such a big down pour the day before and being warned while at another "Local" course that play was likely to suspended after heavy rain.
As previously lake of a mid and end of round coffee and snack (19th Hole ) facilities pulled the rating down. On this occasion the proshop staff were not so friendly, nevertheless i would recommend but try to select times when other less experienced players are in front as there slow play did tend to spoil the round
Annoying players in front
Slow play with a 3 ball in front spoilt the day with having to wait at many holes
obviously not aware of golf rules or etiquette
Would have been good to have some "19th Hole" facilities
well laid out course easy to get round
There where 2 things really that could have been improved and that was the leaves needed clearing and some refreshments would have been good.
Staff were very helpful
Great Layout
Layout is terrific. The fairway grass is getting thin and bare in some areas. Staff very friendly.
Improvement
Some improvements are being made on the course and things are starting to make a turn around in my opinion
Sorry you feel my evaluation of GCC was vague, it’s an opinion, my personal opinion. I’m in no way affiliated or a part of GCC. I have played there 5 times and believe I reviewed GCC after each visit.
5 extremely vague yet mostly positive reviews from this same account on the same golf course within the last calendar year. This golf course is clearly faking reviews
Decent layout
The course has a good variety of holes . The tee boxes and bunkers could use some TLC , greens are in pretty good shape , will play here again .
A great layout that has been run into the ground
It’s unfortunate to see a layout brimming with potential that clearly is past it’s prime. I’ve played this course a handful of times over the past 2 years since I have moved to Gainesville. Each time I have come I hope to see progress in the right direction, but unfortunately, it has steadily trended the opposite way. The bunkers on the course are absolutely horrid. The liners are visible in multiple bunkers, weeds, and rocks are present in every bunker. There is little to no sand left in 90% of them, it is like hitting out of clay. The teeboxes have somehow gotten worse over time. There is almost no grass and tee markers are missing. Other than the majority of immediate in-play areas, there is excessive overgrowth all over the course that shows they do not have the capability of keeping up with the necessary maintenance of the course. The fairways are more dirt and sand than grass. The rough is cut way too high with a melting pot of invasive weeds and grasses making a good lie nearly impossible. The greens that don’t look dead are bumpy and have weeds scattered across the surface, and this surprisingly the best thing the course has going for it, other than simply nature looking nice. I am typically very understanding and sympathetic of courses that I play as I realize it can be costly to operate, and requires a good amount of man power. However, the state of this course managed to ruin my day and mood, and I have made the decision it will not be getting another chance from me. It’s sad to see such a potentially beautiful course completely drowning. I don’t know exactly what is causing this, but the best this course looked was the first time I played it about a year and a half ago. Something needs to change to save this course.
Horrible
I do not like to complain especially when it was such a nice day to play a round of golf. I do not know how this course could be called a country club. First every tee box was like playing from a sand trap, second missing tee markers and some had only one, third not one rake at bunkers, fourth no yardage markers to identify 150 or 100 yards on many holes. About the only thing I can say was good is that the members locker room was nice since I had to use the restroom and accidentally went into it. This course qualifies as a goat pasture and cost me $30 dollars to play it, don’t waist your money like I did.
Florida-scape
The course is picturesque - large Live Oaks, woods, swamps, and lots of native or migrating birds. The golf was enjoyable even though the course is a work-in-progress.
Surprised how nice the course was
I was skeptical to play this course as it has had some poor reviews. However I was pleasantly surprised as 15 of 18 greens and all the fairways were in better condition than other courses with 25 miles of this course. I've already scheduled a tee time for this course again for the coming week.
Nice Course, no food or drinks.
You can tell the course was great a one time. It's a fairly long course which makes it difficult, but enjoyable. Greens were in decent shape. Some fairways have drainage issues. Overall I will possibly play here again. The real issue is there is no restaurant/snack bar/ bar at the course. If you want something to drink, you need to purchase it from a vending machine in the clubhouse. The other courses in town have restaurants/bars so this course loses out to those courses where people want to grab a beer or snack with their playing partners.
Transition time.
Tee boxes and greens going through transition but still very playable. Plenty of wildlife. Enjoy playing this course.
Great Round
The course conditions continue to improve. I’m looking forward to seeing the course in another couple weeks. Good luck Gainesville Country Club!
Old Florida Track that has seen better days.
Sad to see but many courses now suffer from not being able to afford to maintain their course anymore. Once a great layout with fast greens has become barely playable.

A review from this account typically appears every couple months after negative reviews to help boost the rating. The trend is way too consistent to ignore, and looks extremely fishy
