Gainesville Country Club

Aside from the rough being really deep, requires keeping ball in fairways, course is in good shape. Rough just off the fairways and greens is really deep. Hit a shot into a par 5 green with the flag in the back location and when I went to hit my next shot, was having trouble finding my ball which was 6 inches off the green. This is not the norm but does reduce pace of play.

The greens were mostly in good condition but very slow. The rough was well rough, if you found it, good luck finding your ball.

Pleasantly surprised that the course was dry and there were no restrictions for the golf carts. We were able to complete our round in under three hours even with us playing Army golf. (left right, left right)

This is my favorite Gainesville semi-private course to play!

Could be an excellent golf course, but needs a lot of work, when we played we were losing golf balls in the fairway, the grass was way too high secondary cut was impossible, I do like the layout though

The course is getting better. There is some water on the course in water jugs but they do not have much to choose from in the pro shop. No beer, no water, no Gatorade so make sure you bring whatever’s it is that hydrated you. All and all it is definitely better then it was last year

They have obviously let it go…. Ran out of money? Not mowed, grass and water in rock hard bunkers, etc. sad!

Worst kept course I’ve ever been on. Unless they pay you to play, no amount of money makes it worth a round. Bring 12 inch tees as there’s little turf on the tees. What a shame

I'm going to give Gainesville country club a six and a half possibly a seven out of ten. I thought the tea boxes were for the most part in good shape, same with the fairways (there were a few areas where the grass is thin and there were some weeds that need to be pulled by hand), and the greens although a bit slow we're in good condition . The course offers a nice layout with some undulations and some nice oak trees to play through. It's not a course that you come up to anyone hole and go wow but it's definitely good value for the money at the $30 rate I paid Friday afternoon and I would absolutely play there again. From what I understand the course has improved quite a bit over the last year and I applaud their efforts and hope they'll continue to improve as many of the sand bunkers around the greens are in bad condition.

The staff was friendly and attentive. Range was worst I have been to. Sand everywhere. Tees were ok and greens were iffy on some holes. Is the course worth $40. No, but it would be if it were $25 or $30.

Last time I played here the conditions weren't the greatest. But this time around, the course was in MUCH, MUCH better shape. You can tell they are making some changes for the better around there -- the greens were rolling smooth and the fairways were filling out nicely. Love to see it and keep up the good work!!

Gainesville G & C used to be a very well maintained course...while I was never a member I played it as a guest and through golf scramble events. It ha been many years since I have played there and my experience yesterday was disappointing to see a once premier course in shambles. To top it off, the clubhouse diner did not offer any real refreshments or hot dogs, which are an essential staple fir golfers making the turn. I cannot recommend this course to anyone.

O month ago the course was in good condition. Not any longer. The greens are very bumpy. They di aerate recently. Weeds growing on all the greens. Most tee boxes are in poor condition. Looks like they have given up on maintaining the bunkers. Putting and chipping greens are a hot mess. Completely gone. Driving range was always a bit shaky. Now its a mess also. Stopped putting in to maintenance is my guess.....

It was depressing to see the decline of this course. I have not played it in years and it could be years before I play there again. Absolutely TERRIBLE. No grass on tee boxes, greens were dead, bunkers were overgrown with grass. It honestly appears as if all they are doing is mowing. Driving range and practice green was despicable. What a complete waste of $45.
