Gainesville Country Club

I have played here for years this is the worst I have ever seen It. I rate it as 2.5 stars. Surrounding areas are very much in need of mowing. Many Sand traps are GUR!! It wasn’t worth the $41.00 per player x 3. I will play much better courses for less in Gainesville and Ocala in the future. FYI, the practice green and practice area was a disappointment!

I have lived in Gainesville for more than 20 years and have never had the opportunity to play Gainesville Country Club. My brother and I played and enjoyed the course routing and friendly staff. The course hopefully will be able to continue improve the overall course conditions. Most of the tee boxes had no grass left and many parts of fairways did not have any solid grass. The greens were above average but in time will need to be maintained as well. I would love to see this course succeed and it is the proverbial problem of spending on maintenance of the course to get continued play etc. Will play again soon to see if the conditions have improved at all.

Love this course old school a lot of character love all the wildlife the golf course in great shape needs a little work

Tee boxes are bare or sandy, some greens with bad areas, fairways inconsistently grassed.

Course has good layout. Tee boxes are mostly dirt, you can lose balls in the fairway and there is water in odd places on the course from leaking sprinkler heads and no runoff.

I played the course 15 years ago and there is no comparison of conditions. Fairways are dirt and weeds Greens are brown with dormant grass .

It’s so sad how the world’s Governments have destroyed the Middle class chance of enjoying what our fathers and grandparents enjoyed. Every Blue Collar golf club is on its last legs ! Golf and corporate America’ has digressed 120 years . SO SAD !

Few people seem to play this beautiful golf course for some reason. This is the third time I’ve been on this track and each time there have been very few other players. It is semi private, so maybe golfers don’t know that it’s open to the public. There is abundant wildlife on the course which stretches through a neighborhood of nice homes. The course is rather challenging, with many interesting holes. The fairway grass is fairly thin. It needs better grass on the fairways. This seems to be a problem with many courses in the area because of the sandy soil in mid state Florida. The greens were fast And rolled true, but they too needed thicker grass.

the fairways are to thin ,not enough grass ball does notset up. to many lousy lies after hitting the ball right down the middle..most of the tee boxes are terrible

Nice course. Little wet after a few days of rain. Greens roll nice, great speed.. Some elevation changes. Many different shots need to be played . Bring all your clubs.

STOP- Do Not play here. They should have a sign in the clubhouse saying this course has very little grass!! Most women tees where the same tee box as the white tees.

I was sitting by the clubhouse at the turn while my wife used the restroom and was watching four guys on the range.. it looked like a dust storm with all the dirt they had!
