Lovely course even when wet and windy!
I played Concra Wood on the first day it had been open for about a week. The course was very wet underfoot and it was a windy day but I was impressed.
The greens were in great condition even for February and for the amount of rain / snow / frost that had been about for the last few days.
I can imagine that on a calm, sunny day the course would be visually stunning. When I played it was windy and a bit overcast. The course will punish loose driving but would reward straight hitters and bold players.
The holes near the water are great, the water is definitely in play if you're wild but there's enough room to be a bit loose without ending up wet.
The course is well worth the trip and with a 'Hot Deal' price it's an absolute bargain.
Bit of a hidden gem
Never heard of this course before a friend told me about it. The course is excellent, and in good condition when we played it with the greens in excellent condition. Bunkers suffered from the heavy rain the day before but you could tell they would normally be very good.
Location is fantastic, with the course making very good use of the Lough with many hole along the water. This is a challenging course and if your driving is off you will lose balls, if you don't hit the fairway there is not much room before you are either in water or scrub land.
Course is long with plenty of hills between tees and on some holes, so think twice if going to carry a bag.
Course has a very nice club house for after round food and drink and also a good practise facilities to use before teeing off.
Concra is similar to Lough Erne, but better value and a slightly better layout.
Great course
Heard many of my friends raving about this course, so I had to check it out for myself. I wasn't disappointed. Great test of golf and a great variety of holes. This course would hold its own against any of Ireland's parkland courses. I'll definitely be back.
Very impressed after 1 hole!
Very impressed after one hole! All holes match this experience, already recommended the course to our society for future. Staff were friendly and helpful. Just wish it was closer.
Beautiful, tough track
Lots of blind drives, doglegs, approach shots with water, all with fantastic views everywhere. This is a difficult course for high handicappers and challenging for low handicappers playing well.
Superb views from the clubhouse and great food too. Definitely one to play again soon!
Winter Greens - Just like Summer
Course was in great shape with very little casual water and the greens were immaculate. Most courses don't get their greens that good in the middle of summer!
Only (slight) let down is the finishing hole - might need a revamp to put an epic closing hole in place for what is a truly great course.
Top class course
Concra wood is in the top 3 courses I've played.Every hole has brilliant character. Views are amazing Can't wait to get back there
Perfect day
Stunning course wrapped around a lake ., views at nearly every hole stop you in your tracks. Greens are the best I've played on and really tough to read . A long course , buggy recommend. Staff and members made us feel welcome and the food was good too. We Were lucky to have sunshine all day , it truly was a perfect day . 10/10
Great round on a great course
I played Concra Wood with two friends on a Saturday afternoon recently and was impressed. It's convenient from Dublin and only 20 minutes from Monaghan.
The greens were pristine, you could play other courses in June and they wouldn't be as smooth as these. The fairways were still "wintery" and bunkers quite solid but that's to be expected in a lot of courses in Februray. I would like to play in the summer when it's in tip top shape.
Some superb holes make up this track. 3 and 4 on the front 9 and 12, 13 and 15 on the back 9 are brilliant holes to play.
Water comes into play quite regularly on the course with numerous carries of up to 200 yards needed from the tee box. It's a challenging course and very undulating. If you're looking for a thorough examination of your game with fantastic views Concra Wood is just the course.
Had a great meal in the clubhouse afterwards and was very reasonably priced. Staff here and in pro shop were very professional. Would definitely recommend Concra Wood.
Spectacular course
My yearly visit to Concra Wood didn't disappoint! Despite playing in gale force conditions i enjoyed every hole on this challenging course. Greens are immaculate and course in top condition as always. Holes 1, 3, 4, 8, 10 & 14 are amazing. Would play every week if it was closer to home for me. Had food afterwards and it was reasonably priced and very tasty.
Superb
Smashing Course. Staff very friendly. Great time. Greens were smashing!
Def going back in the summer.
5 Diamond course
Concra Wood is unique in its design and scenery. Every hole offers spectacular views of the surrounding countryside, whilst the course offers a different challenge at every turn. This course is well worth the visit, once played you will be back for more.
Wee trip away
On arrival I found the staff very friendly and helpful. The golf course was in excellent condition, good fairways and greens. We decided to walk but a buggy would have been useful as there are a bit of a distance from some greens to the next tee box, but we a fit enough as not to bother us.
Concra Wood With GolfNow
Went with a 4-ball and took the buggies which was absolutely worth it. Course was in excellent condition and the booking system couldn't have been easier. Spent the day had lunch and dinner in the View restaurant which was spectacular. Will definitely be back and will definitely use GolfNow in the future. Thanks all around to the staff at Concra Wood for a fantastic day.
