Great day of golf with friends
Greenleaf is not the Greenleaf of old when Nick price and major PGA pros played and practiced there. However you can still enjoy the beautiful layout country setting and a wonderful day of golf at a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend this course to anyone that wants to get out and have a fun day of golf.
Better then the last time....
it rained so much we barely finished the front 9. Had to take cover under the condo balconies!! Today was 68 deg, clear and sunny. A beautiful day to play 18 holes. The tee boxes looked better this time and maintenance was seeding some of the boxes. 45 minutes from Clermont but, it was worth the drive.
snow bird golfer
The old building above the cart Shack looks haunted it's not in use anymore the until your place looks neglected however the golf course had a nice layout it was challenging pretty long from the green teas they have blue green white senior and women's tee boxes the only 18 that was open was the east they do have a South course but it was closed The Back Nine is 170 yard Par 3 with all carryover a water pond very challenging the greens were in rough shape but they held your ball on approach shots and put it well the fairways were somewhat narrow and we're in pretty good condition all in all for the money it was a fun round and a good value I'll be back
Very Poor
This course is now practically unplayable. The tee's are not defined and in rough condition. The fairways were average but the first cut grass was so long it was impossible to find your ball. The greens were the worst I've ever played - full of weeds and dead patches. Although the facility appears to be getting some recent interior renovations the exterior is literally falling apart. Too bad - in its day this was a great track. I wouldn't return if the green fee was free.
Very nice layout
Tee boxes need some attention, fairways were in good condition, greens were an 8.5 out of 10, all in all was a great play for the $$. Absolutely will be back.
Goat Ranch
Absolutely awful. Worst course I ever have played. Nothing but weeds everywhere, even on the greens, Incredibly awful. David Siegel, you can fix this. This is a disgrace. Gerald Hall. Pekin, Illinois.
Away day golf
We had a nice drive out to this course. Staff needs cue and friendly and course could be no cue if fairways and greens were in better condition
Course shows improvement
Greens and fairways are in good shape. Recent heavy rain has impacted hole 2 tee box, but rest of course is very playable and worth the $$$$.
Hole #2 is underwater
Overall, the fairways and greens are in better shape than I can remember in the past. However, hole #2 is partially underwater and is currently being played as a par 3 hole. This is a minor inconvenience and my hat is off to management & the groundskeepers for doing a good job dealing with the wet weather we are having.
Good course
Course was good fun. Like a lot of other courses suffering from the rain and speed of grass growth.. but look past this and a great well laid out course. 13th off the back tees is a great golf hole!!
Needs some serious care...
We've played here a couple of times in the past years. The staff was great!!! The tee boxes are horrible - over grown, fairways are pretty good, greens nice but very slow, bunkers are getting overgrown a couple were all green. The day started out HOT and then the rain came when we finished the 6th hole. Had to find shelter under one of the empty apartment areas for about 40 minutes. We were about to finish the 9th hole in the drizzle and then it start raining again. By the time we got to the cart house there was only our car. It's a nice laid out course but needs some serious maintenance.
Improving
For a “value” golf course Grenelefe is an excellent bargain. The greens are superior to most courses at this price range. The grass on the fairways and rough Is a little on the long side but I expect it is to keep it alive in the summer sun. I had not played Grenelefe for a while because the conditions had deteriorated. I’m glad I went back.
The course has a fabulous layout, far more interesting than most Florida courses.
Slow Greens
It had been several months since our group played Grenlefe East and it seemed that there was a little improvement to the fairways, but they are still infested with crab grass and weeds. The greens are in pretty decent condition but are really, really slow.
grenelefe
golf course is in playable condition with slow greens.
Ouch
What happened??? This coarse went down hill fast. Fairways are like playing in the rough. Greens were ok. Tee boxes looked like they haven't been cut in awhile.
Great old course layout
Needs work but fun to play, love old style design!'
Grenelefe East
1st of all...the nice people @ Golfnow "forgot" to let the Grenelefe staff know I had booked a tee time... Once we got that straighten out, it was clear sailing ! The greens are not like Southern Dunes ( the Gold standard ), but very putt-able....the fairways have a little " goose-grass" issue that needs to be addressed, & the tee boxes are "so-so"....overall, I'd give the course a " B- "....
Rough Diamond
A good bargain ! Greens a B+ to A-...Fast ? NO ! But very putt-able...Tee boxes OK, fairways a little rough in spots, but overall a good place to go for a relaxing round of golf...At 1:00, I was the only person in sight.
