Unfortunately very poor condition
I'm not in the habit of writing negative reviews. However. Tee boxes and fairways are unfortunately in very poor condition. Even playing pick and place, finding somewhere to place is quite a challenge.
The greens were surprisingly good. OK There were some damaged and dead patches, but generally were in good shape. The two members of staff we met. Reception and the cart gentleman were both extremely friendly, and obviously trying to do their best in difficult circumstances. Those who know the history of Greenlefe will certainly realise that this is a once fabulous facility that in recent years has fallen on very hardtimes.
A huge shame, but I as a very unfussy, high handicap, senior golfer, I really could not recommend Greenlefe.
TUESDAY OUTTING
THE OVERALL COURSE WAS GOOD . THE GREEN REALLY GOOD KIND OF SPEEDY . THE FAIRWAYS ARE GETTING MORE GRASS ON THEM FROM THE PAST . THE TIME WE PLAYED WE SEEM TO HAVE THE COURSE BY OURSELVES WHICH WAS . A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL.
Awesome Day
I had an awesome day, met wih great staff and others that were playing.
Good day of golf
Course design is good .Long holes are great
Greens not well groomed/maintained
No pressure to advance ,finished the second nine all alone
Disappointed
Very tired course. Fairways very poor, no grass. Greens ok. Needs a lot of work to bring this back to good condition. Pace of play was great, not busy course. Pity this was a great course in its day.
Course is in advancing state of decay and/or neglect. Probably was a great course at one time. Cheap rate explained it all, but could have played any other course for a better time. Won't be going back.
Needs major work.
Greens have huge bare spots, fairways have large areas with no grass. Most all tee boxes had no grass only a little weed patch here and there. This is not due to lack of rain but lack of maintenance.
Grenelefe East Course
It rained all day, but considering the weather my game was not bad. This is a classic course from the 70's/80's, once a true test of golf. Currently the owner is not putting much money into this facility.
This course was hit by a severe hurricane some time ago!
I think he uses it for tax write-offs, but still come to play, even thou it has been abused. It is still not a bad place to play.
I dream a day that someone will come to the aid of this classic course......and bring it back to its
former self!!!!
Don't let it die like Diamond Back across the street!
Enjoy your game!!
We really enjoyed golfing at Grenelefe, the staff was friendly and helpful, always answered with a smile.
The course was if very good condition and was challenging for us, which we enjoyed. Have recommended to friends. We look forward to playing the course again.
Some very mixed reviews on this course
Some people rate this course highly and some rate it as terrible. Let me try to clarify. If you paid over $20 you were ripped off. This course is in poor shape but as the saying goes you get what you pay for so do not expect a great course for $20. The pro shop staff I engaged with was disinterested, the cart guy didn't put my bag on the cart. I had to do it myself, so not really sure his purpose other than to hand out the cart key. This along with the shape of the course places it clearly at the 2 star level. So if you are ok with a course in poor shape then pay your $20 and enjoy the course for what it is.
Played both courses. The East course is in the best shape.
Aging Facility
Obviously a beautiful facility when constructed but is suffering from lack of funding now. The buildings are rotting with age and lack of maintenance, the grounds are uncared for and the flower gardens are full of weeds. This was a well planed development that has died and needs to be brought back to life. Perhaps a "volunteer in exchange for golf times" would appeal to residents. Priced too high for conditions and distance from Kissimmee.
great track but awful condition
In the past month the course has deteriorated to bone dry. Hard to find grass. We would not go back.
Poor conditions in Fairways and greens, more often little or no grass conditions very unpredictable
Won't play again until conditions change for the better.
A liitle bit to be Desired
I played the East course 10 years ago and really enjoyed it so I decided to try it again this year. Booked a Hot Deal through Golf Now and paid $27.00 + Convenience Fees and Taxes to a total of $32.50. When at the course they were charging $30.00. Fairways were poor. Had to move the ball around to find grass to hit off. Greens were in good condition - A little slow. Too Bad ! Won't come back until the reviews get better !
Good course Good Value
A little rough around the edges but all in all a decent course at a good price. Was off second and was able to whip around in 2 hours.
