Located 20 miles north of Tucson, the Stone Canyon Club is one of Arizona's top modern desert golf courses. Opened in 2000, it represents a high point in the distinguished golf course design career of architect Jay Morrish. Elevated tees, boulder-strewn desert scenery and deep bunkers border the sinewy fairways and smallish greens. The course is the centerpiece of a high-end private residential development, and is part of the (Phil) Mickelson Private Golf Network along with northern Arizona standouts The Rim Golf Club and Chaparral Pines Golf Club. The club hosted the third edition of 'The Match' in November 2020, pitting Phil Mickelson and Charles Barkley against Stephen Curry and Peyton Manning.

Walking accessibility req'd. for best courses

If walk in the park test is an important part of a great course rating, most assuredly it is, then how can golf digest rate this course so high. The course is not walkable, also it is down right dangerous to walk. To be considered a valid chsp. course I believe it must be walkable, otherwise it might be considered a real estate development.

Desert Gem

A beautiful course with a beautiful clubhouse. This club blows my club away. Unfortunate thing is that we only got to play the front nine due to mishap on flight schedule. But, I saw enough to wanting to go back next year. The views of desert scape is just awesome.
