Golfer Reviews
Preserve: An incredibly scenic course with excellent conditions.
Saddlebrooke Preserve is a little bit of a drive from Tucson but definately worth the effort. The views of the Catalina Mountains are spectacular and the variety of holes makes this a challenging course. The course conditions are excellent. Be careful to watch for rattlesnakes if your ball goes off the somewaht narror fairways. There s no service cart and if you want refreshments, you can purchase them from the ranger. The only negative is that the cost of range balls is high.
nice views, many elevation changes, nice practice area
too often down hill tee shots, adequate design for terrain
greens sloped nicely, but very uneven and bumpy
views are very nice
cart paths difficult to navigate
The course has a variety of interesting and challenging holes.
The course is well kept, has wonderful vistas and an interesting variety of holes.
Liked it all.
Requires gps to find clubhouse.
Beautiful scenery from every hole.
Get a map of course or gps to avoid hidden arroyos & distance to.
At 4 pm the clubhouse & bar were empty.
too wet
The course at 6400 yds plays longer because the course has too much water on it. I am told the effluent is being dumped on the course to get rid of it. A better solution might be to dump the water somewhere else, like the driving range or irrigate something other than fairways and especially aprons to greens.
grass was too short.
grass was too short so that when you are in trouble on the outside of fairway, you are going to have your ball on the dirt. Not grass.
Spectacular Views
Course in excellent conditioning, one of the three most beautiful courses in Tucson area!11
Awesome setting and course design
I played The Preserve for the first time yesterday after hearing from a fellow golfer that it was a "must play" course. The setting looking up at the Catalina Mountains on almost every hole took by breath away. The course was very well maintained and every hole unique/challenging but very playable. I didn't buy a yardage book but I plan to the next time I play the course.
I going to make The Preserve my home course and play it at least once a week in the future.
The best non-resort course in Tucson area.
The couse was in pristine shape with exception of divot marks on the greens, but that's on the golfers not the golf course. Bunkers were in great shape as well [ most are basically hardpans these days ]. This is possibly the best value for your money in southern Arizona, highly reccommend playing their.
Tremendous views of the Catalinas
Very interesting course to play. Elevated tees, blind holes, lots of variety. Good condition.
Rangers control pace of play
Okay but pace of play required is too fast for the difficlty of the course
The preserve
The course is in good condition after the over-seeding. Greens run true and are fairluy fast. Probably about 8 nor 9 on the Stimp Meter. It is a cjhallenging lay-out and very picturesque with some very attractive holes.
Best conditions since openning!
I have been playing The Preserve for over 7 years and it is in the absolute best condition it has ever been in! Other than having to repair more ball marks on the green than just mine, they are rolling very true and smooth. Fairways are in very good condition with grass under every ball, that is the ones you find the fairway with! Pace was a little slower than what I prefer but the course can be sneaky difficult if you don't hit the ball pretty straight.
Really great course
Beautiful course and a fantastic value at $26 for a 12:54pm tee time. I have played many of the high end courses in AZ and this is right up there. Great layout with a lot of elevation change. There are some blind tee shots from the tips, but I was fortunate enough to play with a couple of local guys. The course was in fantastic condition with the exception of slightly slower and longer greens, but they are less than a month off of overseed so it is understandable. (When I say slightly slower and longer, I mean VERY slightly slower and longer, they still play better than most greens in the Tucson area. Fantastic views, pristine conditions, even saw some deer and a few cows! Really great experience and I will be back soon!
One of the best in the Tucson area
Fine course with great views of the mountains. Beautiful hole locations and excellent condition for this time of year. Would play here regularly if it was closer to our home.
Fabulous course with great layout with varying holes.
The course and the restaurant are fabulous (restaurant staff great). We found the proshop staff a bit cool and especially the starter to be somewhat unfriendly. Perhaps the proshop should inform players to report directly to the starter and that the starter is not located at the first tee. Occasional players do not know this routine and perhaps the starter would not be so unpleasant and assuming we arrived late (which was not the case). Better communication of this point would make it a more pleasant experience. Otherwise, we love the overall package here!!
Great Course With Wonderful Catalina Mountain Views
Course requires good shot making and ability to carry ball to green. No bounce and run. Great condition fairways & Greens. Bunkers a bit suspect with very heavy sand.
Beautiful coourse
An excellent course with beautiful scenery and well maintained. My only suggestion is to put prisms on the flagsticks to assist players with laser range finders. The flags are very difficult to pick up from any distance without the prisms.
