Verde River Golf & Social Club
About
Verde River Golf & Social Club (formerly known as Tegavah Golf Club and Vista Verde Golf Course) has a desert style layout that features panoramic views of Four Peaks, the Superstition Mountains, Weaver's Needle, and the Tonto National Forest. In addition to the scenery, the golf course also presents interesting challenges such as subtle contours and desert wasteland areas that guard the holes. The greens lead to generous landing areas that require precision and length. Although only one water hazard comes into play on one hole, there are several sand bunkers strategically situated throughout. Verde River Golf & Social Club offers five sets of teeboxes to offer suitable challenges for players of all skill levels and abilities.

This course is fun!
Interesting course with some course management required. Staff is super friendly and the views are worth admission. Conditions are very good. I will return
Very nice course... great value for the money...
Some improvements in the facilities and layout from last year but still very spartan in that regard. The course was in very good condition - fairways and greens. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Great value for the money.
Gerat course.
Great course. Every hole has a magnificent mountain view.
No half way house and needs updated carts, but I would still play this course over and over again.
Tough Desert Course
This is a true desert course with lots of desert and many washes to carry. Course in great shape. Best value for money is in the afternoon now that the days are getting longer!!
Greens excellent and very fast with some tough pin positions.
Great Course no facilities
This course was recommended by a friend and my Foursome was able to snag a last second cancellation. We barely made our tee time, but the staff was gracious in making sure we got out with no problems. 4 out 5 stars only because there are no facilities on site. I did not realize there was no club house, etc. There was a driving range, but because of our last second tee time there was no chance to take advantage of that. I was also surprised that gas carts were being used, but growing up with those carts, it was no problem for me. GPS in carts seems to be lacking in all Arizona courses, so dont expect it here either.
The course conditions were very good. We played in February 2013 and the fairways were well kept, the greens were pretty good (very hard and very fast) and the tee boxes were pretty clean. The views at this course are spectacular. I wish that I had more time on the course to really enjoy the views while playing the game. All in all, a great course that will only get better once its completed.
Incredible views, challenging desert vistas, "no frills" amenities
This course MUST be seen and played to be believed. The views were amazing and the course, though challenging, was manageable for the average golfer. The pace of play was slow; however, as we had a 2pm teetime and were able to complete only 15 holes by 6pm due to darkness and waiting for the tee box to open. Although there is not a snack shack, the snack cart made the rounds. The only rest room facilities are PortoJohns. They could use more maintainance. I hope there are never homes on this course as it would spoil its natural and pristine condition. It's worth the drive.
Great course with right level of difficulty and yet great value for the money.
I have played at this course before so I was ready for the challenge. Course is in pristine condition and yet the green fee is not in hundreds of dollars. Practice facility is good but wouldn't mind if they make it little better by having more chipping and putting area. I am certain that there is probably a plan to have concrete cart path in future. Overall, the course is very good and would recommend to try it out.
Nice staff, great value.
Great fun. Beautiful views. Nice staff but short on balls at range.
Hidden Gem!
One of my favorite courses and one of the best values in the Valley! I think it's worth the drive. Amazing views, fun layout, great practice area. Come for golf, not to hang out in the club house! (There isn't one, yet) Enjoy your round!
Family golf
Played "Family Golf" with handicap varying from 2 through 30, and everybody enjoyed the day. OK practice facility, which is included in the green fee.
A hidden gem for a great value
A wonderful layout that was in pristine condition. Do not let the lack of amenities fool you. This location is all about the course and the natural setting; a desert layout that is surrounded by mountains. Oue group had such a great time after playing it for the first time that we came back for a second visit the same week. Great course for a great value.
Glad I played here
I like this course very much. Coming from the Northeast, it was a pleasant change. The course was in great shape, the greens much faster than I am used to. The course I found challenging but fair, and with 5 tees, it is suited to different abilities.
Fun, tough in the wind. Challenging.
Gps or local knowledge is a must. Tough in wind. Very fun to play.
Greens in very good shape, but difficult to read. Practice area is average. Staff friendly. Needs amenities to enhance experience.
I will be back.
Great Views
Very nice course with great greens and views of the mountains.
The range was under repair due to a recent storm, so we could only hit irons.
Out in the middle of nowhere but worth it.
This course is way east of Scottsdale - about a 30-40 min drive, but moves quickly. The course is in a proposed subdivision that was derailed with the housing crisis of Az. The course has 5 tees and a length to suit all. For the first time playing it there is some 'target' golf which makes it interesting. The greens were lightning fast compared to some others in the area. Very nice conditions.
Warning - there is not a clubhouse at the course. You check in at the entry to the subdivision but at the course there are a number of staff to help you, Bathrooms are mostly port a lets. Also, I'm not a fan of gas carts, but when you do not have a 'cart barn' to charge electric carts. Great value but worth the play.
Club house is remote from the course. No restaurant or bar on site.
Will play again when I return to Scotsdale area in the future.
This course is always a fun course to play.
The course was in good shape other than a few bald spots in the fairways. Pace of play was good.
This was a long drive for a moderate round of golf. Much of the area is still in development.
An okay experience... The course is new and offers few ammenities. Pace of play seemed to be at a crawl. The ranger asked the groups in front of us to get back on pace and that if we continued to have problems to call them. After a hole or two we were back to a crawl. I did as asked and called. A different ranger came out and basically chewed me out for calling in and complaining saying that we were on time and this is just the way it is. Not friendly at all. This was the younger guy... No clubhouse for a sandwich although cart service was offered. With the many options of quality golf in the area, this one was just a bit of a hike to get to and was just okay.
great value
Unknown Gem. Tough but fair and challenging from the backtees. Great course for the oney
