Verde River Golf & Social Club
About
Verde River Golf & Social Club (formerly known as Tegavah Golf Club and Vista Verde Golf Course) has a desert style layout that features panoramic views of Four Peaks, the Superstition Mountains, Weaver's Needle, and the Tonto National Forest. In addition to the scenery, the golf course also presents interesting challenges such as subtle contours and desert wasteland areas that guard the holes. The greens lead to generous landing areas that require precision and length. Although only one water hazard comes into play on one hole, there are several sand bunkers strategically situated throughout. Verde River Golf & Social Club offers five sets of teeboxes to offer suitable challenges for players of all skill levels and abilities.

great value for desert golf
I have played this course before and always enjoy it. It is a great layout in great condition and maybe the best feature is they have not got any development yet so there aregreat views. There is no clubhouse so it is not a social outing but for pure golf in Scottsdale it is hard to beat for the price.
Beautiful mountain views while playing a great course
Can make this course as difficult as you want playing the back tee boxes. Every hole offers different challenges. Beautiful scenery and not yet cluttered with homes. Well maintained. There is no clubhouse which is a negative.
Fun course great greens
Greens were probably some of the best I have played on in a long time. A little out of the way, but worth the drive.
Beautiful course with unspoiled views
Fantastic course, pity the ameneties are so poor, toilets especially, otherwise my party thought it was one of the best we had played on in the region for our standard of golf 10-13 handicapers.
We would play again for sure during our stay in the area.
Straight forward holes with tough undulating greens.
Fun to play. Can be difficult or easy, by using proper tee box for skills level. Target desert layout is a venue to test all skill levels.
Not user friendly
With a temperature of only 37 degrees we showed up early still hoping to play even with such a unexpected cold temperature. their was only a few people golfing and they still made us wait til our original tee time. The bag boys were overheard laughing about keeping us from going off. Won't go there again!
Excellent Course for the above average golfer
We had a awesome time playing this amazing course. Great fairways and very fast greens.
Great views
Course has been improved greatly. The overseeding really took and it is very plush.
Nice but unfinished eg clubhouse, only portable restrooms and unpaved paths
Nice but unfinished eg portapotties, unpaved and at times unclear golf paths and essentially no clubhouse. Still I
Enjoyed and would return.
Great course at a great price. Will be a much better experience when all facilities are built so there is a proper restroom and food and beverage.
This is an excellent hidden gem. It is off the beaten path but is worth the extra time to find. Will for sure play agian in the future.
Great Layout
Played here Saturday. Golfers had to check in at the information center. They don't have a clubhouse. The course layout was great,
greens were fast and fairways were in great condition. I will play this course again.
The course was in great shape and challenging. The scenery was amazing with mountains in the background.
The course was in great shape and challenging. The scenery was amazing with mountains in the background. The amenities were poor with portable toilets and no clubhouse. It will probably be a few years before the development is complete.
Great value - Wonderful course with beautiful views!
For the reasonable green fees, this is a great Scottsdale area course. As long as you do not mind that there is no clubhouse, you will love this one. Right up against the McDowell Mountains, the views are spectacular. They have a fabulous driving range for your warmup. The course has good variety, and does not punish you if you miss your drive a bit. Front nine seems tougher than the back due to some tough pop-up green complexes. Would definitely recommend Vista Verde.
Extremely challanging green complex
Early December 2012..one of the best conditioned courses we've played in a long time. It's obvious they are trying hard to make it the best it can be.
Great value!
Gorgeous Vistas
An excellent test of golf and your short game. Take in those beautiful views after every 3 putt!!!
Course in great condition today!
Very trick pin placement today, excellent fairway and greens condition. Greens were much more difficult than I remembered
Great course
Quality course.
awesome views. fairways and greens are the quality of any competition course.
love it,
jr
Great Course, Poor Staff
The course was in excellent condition. The course layout is beautiful, you have a great view on each hole. However. The ranger ruined our round. The starter sent us to the tee box 5 minutes after our scheduled tee time. Then hole 5 the ranger tells us we really need to hurry up, because we were 4 minutes behind. The kicker is that there were no groups ahead of us and a foursome behind us had yet to wait for us to that point. By the time they got to the tee box, we were usually on or around the green. Fast forward to the turn. We are told that we are going too slow and that we need to skip hole 10 and proceed to hole 11. We finished the front 9 in 2 hours and 20 minutes after our scheduled tee time. Take into account that we were started 5 minutes late, we were right on pace for 4 and a half hours. The group behind us had still not had to wait once on us. We were told by the ranger we could play 10 after we finished 18. We finished 18 and the same ranger told us the course was too busy and we couldn't play 10. In case anyone reading this is wondering, we finished in 4 hours 10 minutes. 20 under their "pace of play". This ranger should be fired as he is driving away business. I won't golf this course again because of him. From chandler this course is about an hour drive, I'm not gonna risk an hour drive on a course that is going to rush my group and make us skip holes.
Great course, but pace of play on back 9 very slow.
Course condition was great. The setting is very nice. However slow pace of play on back 9 diminished the experience.
