Located less than an hour from Tampa and Orlando, LakeSide Golf & Country Club in Inverness has a unique and scenic setting with four holes that play around an abandoned phosphate mine. The challenging layout will test you with long par 5s and a slew of doglegs. Unlike some of the flatter, marshier golf courses you'll find throughout Florida, this layout has rolling, wide open fairways and large, undulating greens. Be prepared for more than 50 strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greens in addition to well placed smatterings of tall oaks and pines. The rough can also be very punishing if you're errant. There are some challenging holes but it's not overly daunting; beginners and casual golfers will still enjoy the golf course. There is also a driving range available at LakeSide Golf & Country Club.

Lakeside Golf Course (Inverness FL)
I am extremely disappointed with the course's condition. I had played the course on previous dates due to my participation in a golf league, I could see where an effort was placed on improving the course and I welcomed the improvements. The golf league was moved to a different course and I had not played Lakeside in 5 months. WOW!!! The course is in such bad shape that I could play a cow pasture and have better course conditions. This saddens me since Lakeside has one of the best hole layouts in Citrus County. This course could be awesome but it will take commitment and capital by ownership.
Garbage course
Any reviews above 1 star are fake, or the player is used to playing in a garbage pile. Pretty sure all mowers at this course are inoperable, except the greens mower. They were actually cut, but never been leveled or rolled (it seems). Large rugs of crab grass in the middle of the fairway were the only signs of grass…unless you count clover. Otherwise, you were hitting off of sand. The tee boxes? Ha! This course needs to return to nature, or find a new superintendent that actually cares about what a course should be! I paid $20/person (cart was included) and that was too much for this course. Stay away.

Needs some tlc
I have played this course for over 40 yrs and I see things that i never would have expected. Players pulling up right next to green, players in tee shirts or tank tops and the course is not in good shape,some of the holes are fair at best. With that said i still play it from time to time as I grew up playing it.
First off this isn’t a pga grade course. That said, it’s a challenging layout that’s fun and could use some tlc. It’s in overall good shape and I look forward to playing it again.
Fun course
Nice to finish a round in 3.5 hours, rather than 4.5. Tee boxes need work.
Worsened
Somehow conditions have worsened from winter and spring. Lot of teenagers driving in circles trashing the course. Just pay more and go to another nearby.
Pleasantly surprised
Wasn’t expecting much based off of other reviews, and price. Had a great time, played 18 in 3 hours 15 minutes. Course layout was fun, and fairly easy. Plenty of doglegs and blind shots. Greens were nice, fairways decent, tee boxes need work. But, it was a $24 round, can’t expect perfect. Will definitely be back.
