Lakeside Golf Course
About
Located less than an hour from Tampa and Orlando, LakeSide Golf & Country Club in Inverness has a unique and scenic setting with four holes that play around an abandoned phosphate mine. The challenging layout will test you with long par 5s and a slew of doglegs. Unlike some of the flatter, marshier golf courses you'll find throughout Florida, this layout has rolling, wide open fairways and large, undulating greens. Be prepared for more than 50 strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greens in addition to well placed smatterings of tall oaks and pines. The rough can also be very punishing if you're errant. There are some challenging holes but it's not overly daunting; beginners and casual golfers will still enjoy the golf course. There is also a driving range available at LakeSide Golf & Country Club.

Lakeside 2024
For $23 didn’t expect much and it delivered. This course, with some $$$ and a fresh crew could be a gem. Layout is solid! From the blue tees, the holes front and back are challenging and require good shotmaking. Greens were in good shape, fairways and rough were…well rough and required a significant roll to find a patch of grass to hit from. Annie, the cart girl was the highlight of the staff, friendly with a good selection of drinks! Food at the bar was tasty and inexpensive. If you’re not expecting much for $23 with a cart, help them out, they could use the revenue and it’s better than the “Tin Cup” driving range.
Casual round of golf
Conditions were marginal but hit was fine for a casual round.
Improving
Fairways are improving with the rain we have been having. Same with the greens with fewer bad spots. Paid for 18 and got to 10 with 30 minute back up. They were kind enough to give us a rain check for another day for back 9 so review doesn't include back 9. Very reasonable priced with discount on Golfnow.
golf
fairways were green very thin grass greens need more grass some not very good need the sticks and leaves picked up
Improving
The course conditions are improving. We happened to meet the new superintendent. He commented how pleased he was bc we parked the carts on the cart path next to the green. He was lamenting on how he wished others would stay on paths so the grass would grow. We could tell that he really wants to improve the conditions. Bc if him, we will be returning. Hopefully he will get support from the rest of the staff and ownership. This was once a very good course. Hopefully it's on the verge of a comeback.
Many times
We stay in the area on occasion as snowbirds, and I enjoy playing this course. It’s a good bang for the buck
