Golf Club of Dublin
About
Although the climate gives away the location, the Golf Club of Dublin is a more authentic interpretation of the traditional links of its Irish namesake than most other replicas you'll find. The flat terrain, which was formerly a cornfield, was transformed into an enjoyable linksland layout covered with tall, sweeping heather and hundreds of yards of hand-stacked stone walls. The gently rolling fairways are generous and the classic, square-shaped greens are enormous and fast. In keeping with a true links golf course, there are nearly 80 steep, sod-walled bunkers waiting treacherously by the fairways and greensides to swallow up errant shots. Depending on the sun, the shadows cast over the bunkers can play tricks on your eyes, making them appear deceptively deeper or shallower. Water hazards also come into play on a few holes at the Golf Club of Dublin.

Not up to Par
I was very disappointed in my experience this time playing here. Granted I had a lower twilight hour rate. However it was extremely packed with golfers. I did get to tee off early only because I joined the group in front of me which was fine since I was a single player. The real problem started on the second tee, where there were 8 people putting on the green! Yes, 8 and they all were putting for a million $. Next hole all 8 teed off. Online scorecard said where were eight minutes behind pace. By the time everybody teed off we were 15 minutes behind pace. Thank goodness a Marshall told us after the third hole it would get better- great. Remember this is twilight play. So by the time we get to the 6th hole my cart dies. I call the clubhouse and tell them. Response-sure no problem be right there with a new cart. Meanwhile we have to switch out clubs and try to rearrange so we can continue to play. 6th hole isn’t that far from clubhouse. I called, a member called, we played 6, called again on 7. Now it’s starting to get darker people behind us jump in front of us and play a par 3 hole so we have to wait again for them.
Because the people we had been waiting on hadn’t gotten any faster we were just a little slower because we were minus a cart!! So dark we were unable to play 7, 8,9. Total time to play 6 holes over 2 hours. Sorry Dublin I wouldn’t be back for quite awhile!!
4.5 stars from me
Solid course not quite 5*. If I Had to nitpick I’m looking for a bit more speed on the greens although they do run true here(GC Dublin) they r a little beat up in spots. Overall I’m happy w the experience and really don’t have any complaints.
Nice course, poor staff
The staff was great and friendly, except the starter. We booked 9 holes and asked if front or back were less busy to the guys at the cart stand. They suggested back 9. We went to start back 9, and the starter came up to us yelling, telling us that we start on the front 9, and was completely unprofessional. Then he asked us if were any good and to keep moving after he came and pulled us off the 10th tee. We all tee off, literally on our second shots (in a foursome) and tells us that we need to speed up and we’re playing too slow. Completely off putting and left a bad impression.
We get to the 9th hole, and are waiting on the group in front of us, which was no biggie as we’re having a good time and having some beers, and we let them finish through them tee off, and the same guy comes up to us and tells us that if we can’t see the group ahead of us, we’re playing behind, literally 3 mins after we were waiting on the group ahead of us.
Golf shop service was great, beer cart girls were awesome and friendly, cart guys were cool, but the guys who were operating as the starter or whatever were complete jerks and we felt rushed the entire time because of it, which parlayed into us not playing great games.
Won’t be back.
soggy soggy soggy
after a wet spring and cool temps, we had thunderstorms all night long. The course was opened, but squish, squish squish. puddles everywhere.
Springtime
Knocked the rust off a bit. Great day to be out (social distancing observed).
thanks for being open!!!!!
the course was in much better shape than last week, and allowed 90 degree cart usage on 17 of 18 holes. Weather was fantastic - who would have guessed? Paired up with some very nice folks, everyone kept their distances. Just a great day!
Great April golf
Enjoying the fresh air and warmer temps on nice greens.
Thumbs up
Early season, just rained a bunch two nights before. Relatively green. Layout presents a good challenge. Tee boxes in good enough shape, fairways and rough were fine. Greens were aerated but good enough speed. Good value on a Hot Deal time.
Great Course For A Great Value
The Golf Club of Dublin is a great facility that is open to the public. Challenging layout and it is always in good shape. Fairways are always tight very much like the courses in Scotland and the greens are large, firm and fast.
The Pro Shop staff is very friendly and professional.
The "19th Hole" is a very comfortable place to hang out after the round. Great staff.
Love this course
Fairly wide fairwarys, terrain somewhat hilly with undulations
Great Fun
GCD is a very fun course and usually in excellent condition. Reachable par 4s and 5s, interesting holes, decent greens and big fairways make it a joy to play
I'll be back!
I have been wanting to play this course since working in the Columbus area and hearing about it from a few coworkers! First, although I was running a little late for my tee time, they wasted no time getting me to the Starter, and tee box, of which, he took a little time, to give me some course instructions, as well as did a good job of ensuring there was enough time/space between the group that was in front of us. The course was pretty and green, the Greens were receptive, large and not even close to being flat and although there are houses, they were not so close to the fairways, that you had to worry about hitting them, unless you have a severe hook or slice! The par 3's played longer than they looked, which is good and 5's tested your ability to keep it in the fairway; all in all, this is a nice course and one that has been added to my list of playables for the area; I will definitely be back!
Very Good Course
The layout and overall condition of the course is great. I love playing here. For some reason though, the people who play here do a terrible job of fixing ball marks on the greens. I would recommend the staff make a priority of reminding golfers to fix their marks. Would make the greens look much better. Only other complaint is we havent had rain in a week and some of the tee boxes and in front of the greens were sopping wet. It hasn't been hot enough here to need to over water. Slow down with the sprinklers.
Slow pace plus marshals = stress
GCD starts foursomes every 9 minutes. We waited on every shot, and were told twice by marshals to speed up our pace of play, the second time the most annoying -- we had waited the entire front nine and immediately proceeded to the 10th hole. The group ahead of us dropped out. On our second shots, a marshal drove up and told us to catch up to the group ahead of us, like WE were the problem! Didn't appreciate it.
GCD
Windier than normal, greens were exceptional with what looks like a lot of play. Cart girls made it around 4 times while we played, staff is friendly and overall course was in good shape. Would play again with golf now price.
Nice links style course but get rid of your ranger!!!
This course is a very nice links like layout and plays very fair. Always in good condition as well. Be prepared though, they think very highly of this course and price it accordingly.
Great practice area and nice restaurant as well. Avoid their email list or you will be bombarded almost daily.
Saving the worst for last; the Ranger was absolutely ridiculous. Teed off after 4p which meant the course was pretty open. Never any wait yet there was still a Ranger that we saw on almost every other hole. I don’t know what they are told when they go out but coming down almost every other fairway, making you wait, or staring at you while you play when there’s nobody else on the course is uncalled for and annoying. 7 PM and yet he is still there. Tells us to hurry up though we had played the first seven holes in only an hour and a half. Keeping up with the group in front of you is one thing but if you are not behind, then there’s no reason for that since everybody plays their own pace. For the amount that you have to pay to play here, he needs to learn his place and understand that there is no law to get around in under three hours
Since the conditions are nice and the layout is as well, I will recommend this course. But it would be hard to tell anybody to play if the Ranger is patrolling. It honestly ruined the round.
Good day for golf
Had a great time playing with a couple from Korea here visiting their son. Pace of play was terrific no one rushing us at all. Green were a little fast until they turned o. The sprinklers then it was a nice cool down and softer greens. Overall a very nice round.
