Bridges - The Masters at Firewheel Golf of Garland
About
Firewheel Golf Park boasts a total of 63 championship holes. There are three regulation courses: the Bridges, the Lakes, and the Old Course, which boast enough variety to appeal to a wide range of skill levels from novices to pros. The 27-hole Bridges Course even offers three more 18-hole combinations. The layout is comprised of three different nines: the Masters, the Champions, and the Traditions that can be mixed and matched for a different round every time you play at Firewheel. Throughout the course, golfers will face strategically placed bunkers and there are tall oak and pecan trees all along the sculpted fairways. Spring Creek and Rowlett Creek also weave across the landscape, coming into play on several holes. The Masters is the longest of the three nines at 3,553 yards from the back tees.

Great winter golf
Greens on Champion 9 were perfect, Tradition 9 were slower an bumpy. winter conditions with a touch of recent rains and runoff areas. Good layouts both nines, def need to work the ball on Traditions 9. Pace was 3:40 for our foursome at 11am. Joined by 3 other gentlemen, we had a great time. Good price on GolfNow. Staff gave me a free set of range balls - kudos for the customer service
Course as good as expected.
This course came highly recommended and didn’t disappoint. It was in good shape for the end of November. The layout and unique holes were fun to navigate, especially the Masters course. If it wasn’t for a frost delay that backed everything up, it would have been perfect!
One of the best courses in the area. Would be a course a person could play every day.
Great shape
Course in great shape, but wish everyone would repair their ball marks. Very disappointed.
very nice course
Really enjoy your course. Excellent fairways and greens. Wish you could provide a refreshment cart. Really hot and no cart refreshments 4 th round at this location. Has it all but REALLY needs a marshall to control speed of play and a refreshment cart..
Poor Greens
This course has character, however the bent grass greens were in very poor condition.
Very well maintained.
Course was in excellent shape and the new golf carts are awesome!
Loved the course, open and well laid out. All the hosts were very nice and helpful.
Problems; We played (3) behind 4 women who thought they were on the LPGA tour. SLOW, never offers to allow us to play through. We hit and sat after EVERY shot, all 18 holes! There was NO marshall, nor was there ever a cart person to provide an opportunity for refreshments! No bad, really enjoyed the course but the 60 minutes behind pace dampened the fun
Good overall but greens need repairs
The course is well watered and in good shape overall. But the greens are so receptive they leave big ball marks.
And people are doing a poor job of fixing them. I could easily spend a full hour on every green fixing marks. I spent a lot of time fixing marks on my putting line to give me a decent roll.
Almost perfect!
Played Masters/Traditions in 3 hrs 10 min. beginning at 12:30. Nice and clean. Flat tee boxes with freshly moved sculpted fairways build confidence in shot placement. Scattered fairway yardage markers present ...150 yard poles would be helpful especially on par 5 holes. Wonderfully soft greens, medium speed but full of divots; needed to make many repairs before putting. C’mon guys! There’s cold water at the tee boxes although I never saw a refreshment cart. Cart paths smooth and carts are quietly electric. My review may read as criticism but no doubt this is a great course with plenty of variety. These tweaks would make it better.
Stunning!
First time here. Masters/Champions courses looked tournament ready, manicured from tee to green. Tee boxes pleasantly flat, fairways freshly cut so got good roll. Greens were soft yet seemed slow but putting pace was consistent. The layout was full of enjoyable variety littered with massive mature trees hiding subtle doglegs to elevated greens. I enjoyed the discipline of placement off of the drive. Played alone in just over 3 hours. Staff friendly and the electric carts appeared new. Cart paths smooth and comfortable from beginning to end. The only disappointment ... I thought the greens had recent hail damage only to find out that no one knows how to repair ball marks. This really is a beautiful golf course in great shape except for the pock-marked greens. The greenskeepers surely could address this. I’ll look for this course again on golfnow. Highly recommended.
Bridges - nice experience
The course was in pretty good shape on July 4. The greens were rolling a little bit slow but true. The greens were recently heavily watered and holding up on my long irons. I’m sure in the afternoon once the greens dry up the greens will be very fast. All the fairways were in pretty nice. I had a fun time and I will visit this course again.
Great Fourth
Was pleasantly surprised with the pace on the holiday. Our foursome finished in just under 4 hours. The greens are rolling fast and holding great. Good fairways, and really can't say enough about the greens given the time of year. Will definitely be back.
Great Conditions! Needs a marshal, especially on a holiday!
Course was in great shape! Played on July 4th so you expect a long round, but we never saw a marshal a single time.
Great Shape
Course is in really good condition. Greens are soft and rolling true. Tee boxes and fairways have plenty of grass except for #17.
Warning: Course design turns an 80 into a 90 very easily
Firewheel Bridges has 3 9-hole layouts.
We were required to play the Champions and Bridges courses, which seem to be the standard options most of the time.
The Champions is the better course, but both are built in a creek bed area that requires most of the greens to be severely elevated with steep sides, to protect them when the creek floods. Hitting and holding the greens pretty well determines whether you break 90 since missing a green by less than 2 feet can cause your ball to run down the very steep hill, sometimes into a hazard, but on all occasions leaving you a blind, 20-yard, uphill lie for your chip shot.
As an amateur, I hit about 50% of greens on a good day and, like about 90% of 10-15 handicap golfers, I rely on chipping to when I miss a green to keep me close to my handicap and stay with the lower handicap players in my group.
The severely sloped greens significantly lowered my enjoyment of playing these courses. You may want to consider this feature before you play here.
Great Round
Course is in excellent condition right now. Pace of play on the front nine was really slow. Back nine on the Traditions was much better pace.
