Bridges - The Tradition at Firewheel Golf of Garland
About
The Bridges at Firewheel Golf Park is a 27-hole layout that has been a regular host of U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur qualifying tournaments. The course is comprised of three nines that can be played in different 18-hole combinations. The Tradition nine is the shortest of the three at just over 3,200 yards from the back tees. What it lacks in length, it makes up for with the rolling terrain. Golfers will face tricky uneven lies in addition to strategically placed bunkers and towering oak and pecan trees. There are also two creeks that crisscross through the entire golf course. They come into play on several holes. Not only does the Bridges provide three 18-hole courses, there is also Firewheel's original 18-hole Old Course, which was followed soon after by the 18-hole Lakes Course.

Course conditions not what I expected
Champion and Tradition: Most greens had multiple bare spots and lots of unrepaired ball marks. I've never seen the greens at Firewheel in this condition.
Green’s
Would not have played if I had know they had recently punched their greens. It was like Pachinko!!
Good challenge and his conditions
First time here and it's set up pretty well and unique choosing the back 9 of one or the other. Only complaint was the aerating and heavy sand in every green today. With damp conditions, putting was very difficult and sticky. Aside from that, I loved the course challenge, conditions overall, and the well kept fairways. Greens are in good condition except this week due to maintenance.
Top dressed
I wish they would have let me know in advance that they had punched the greens. Also top dressed. This was done yesterday.
Conditions
Fairways are in good shape. Greens are very soft and pitted from divot marks. People not fixing divots is part of the problems but overwatering may be part of it as well. Some bunkers filled with weeds and not maintained . Champions course in much better shape than Traditions .
Still worth the money
The course is just fine
Golfnow was my only problem - it was raining all over the area - at 73 years old I decided not to play because rain predictions were 65% and the temperature was in the 60s - not ideal or even good conditions - because the course did not close Golfnow decided to keep my money. Better be 100% sure you are going to play no matter what are these guys are going to rob you.
Worst Greens I've ever played on
These greens were atrocious. The course was in bad shape all together but these greens looked like tiny land mines had gone off on them.
Best value in DFW
Great track.....only public course I know of with bent grass greens in DFW. 3 different 9’s. Great range and practice facility too.
Temporary Greens
One of my favorite courses, but temp on #6 of champions and Masters is shut down with several bad greens Have to play the Traditions
Don't bring a putter - can't even play the greens
The fairways are hard, the bunkers are hard and the greens are truly some of the worst I've seen. They look nice but the ball leaves a massive divot, the people that play here don't fix their divots and you don't even want to putt here. Extremely inconsistent, bumpy, slow, etc.
Also...1/5 holes you're NOT ALLOWED to even hit at the green!! They put a flag in the fairway and call it a hole. RIDICULOUS. There should really be a warning for this. Save your money and either go elsewhere or go to the range. Really displeased.
