Bridges - The Tradition at Firewheel Golf of Garland
About
The Bridges at Firewheel Golf Park is a 27-hole layout that has been a regular host of U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur qualifying tournaments. The course is comprised of three nines that can be played in different 18-hole combinations. The Tradition nine is the shortest of the three at just over 3,200 yards from the back tees. What it lacks in length, it makes up for with the rolling terrain. Golfers will face tricky uneven lies in addition to strategically placed bunkers and towering oak and pecan trees. There are also two creeks that crisscross through the entire golf course. They come into play on several holes. Not only does the Bridges provide three 18-hole courses, there is also Firewheel's original 18-hole Old Course, which was followed soon after by the 18-hole Lakes Course.

Great value for a well conditioned course
After a delay in getting out (single player),paired with another single. Enjoyed the round and conditions. Long front 9 w/ 5 some slowing everyone. Passed them on turn (had to ask them) then played in under 2 hours on back. Great condition, greens were fantastic.
Great layout with plenty of scenery
My wife and I played here on a weekday afternoon on the way to Austin. Greens were in great shape and the course is laid out in a very interesting way around the river/creek that runs through it. We did have to wait 15-20 mins on several holes towards the end due to a bunch of adults and children playing some kind of tournament. They eventually let us thru. I think we played the Masters and Champion course. We did find it hard to make the transition from one course to the next. Maybe some signs? However, we really enjoyed it. My wife loved the place, which is rare. We will be back next time we pass though.
Great outing
The course was in great shape, very challenging but if you put it in the correct spots you can scores well. Greens in great shape, highly recommend this course.
Great Course
I will definitely be back to this course the 3 9 holes they have are in great shape, Green are almost perfect,
Course always looks great
Really good layout with bent grass putting surfaces. I think this is one of the better public golf courses in the area.
Great shape
The greens are in great shape a week after the major storms. Some of the rough needs to be cut but that isn’t a major concern.
A pleasant day
The greens are in good condition. The cart had GPS which was very helpful for someone who has never played the course.
Not that great greens and fairways right now.
Firewheel Bridges usually have immaculate greens and fairways but I guess they are in a process of repairing everything. The greens have weeds and the fairways aren’t that lush. The winter could have something to do with that. Hopefully everything will be better in late spring or summer.
Not worth the money
Course is under renovation making the course conditions aweful. Should be a crime to pay $54 to golf on that course in its current state. Let alone the greens are the worst !!!! You can find way nicer courses for a cheaper rate. I might try it again in a year.
Poor
No starter. Several groups of five players all claiming to have the 12:14 tee time. Took forever to ge through the round. Not enjoyable. Course conditions were mediocre. They had just aerated greens and failed to mention so at the pro shop.
Great winter golf
Greens on Champion 9 were perfect, Tradition 9 were slower an bumpy. winter conditions with a touch of recent rains and runoff areas. Good layouts both nines, def need to work the ball on Traditions 9. Pace was 3:40 for our foursome at 11am. Joined by 3 other gentlemen, we had a great time. Good price on GolfNow. Staff gave me a free set of range balls - kudos for the customer service
Course as good as expected.
This course came highly recommended and didn’t disappoint. It was in good shape for the end of November. The layout and unique holes were fun to navigate, especially the Masters course. If it wasn’t for a frost delay that backed everything up, it would have been perfect!
One of the best courses in the area. Would be a course a person could play every day.
