Bridges - The Champion at Firewheel Golf of Garland
About
Firewheel Golf Park in Garland is home to the 27-hole Bridges Course, which is comprised of three nines that are played in different 18-hole combinations. Opened in 2001, the course has been host to several U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur events. The nines offer plenty of variety, each utilizing the tree-covered rolling terrain in different ways. The Champion nine is the second longest nine. It features large putting surfaces and sculpted fairways lined with mature oak and pecan trees. You'll run into a fair amount of strategically placed bunkers on this nine. The Rowlett and Spring Creek meander through the entire layout, coming into play on several holes. In addition to the three 18-hole golf courses provided by the Bridges, there are also the two other 18-hole courses at Firewheel, the original Old Course and the Lakes Course.

Great Value
Played the front 9 as a two-some in 1.5 hours, back 9 in 2.5 hours. The foursome on the back were playing each hole on in 20 minutes on average and refused to allow us to play through. After barking at them they picked up the pace, with that being said, a marshal needs to monitor the pace of play. The greens were in great condition and the price was a good value. I would play it again.
I would play again
I really like this course and it was a great value. Greens were a little slow, but not too bad and there were some really wet areas on the course especially around the greens. Other players need to learn how to rake the bunkers. They were footprints everywhere. The two gentlemen in the pro shop were average at best but the starter was awesome .
I did enjoy playing it and will definitely play it again
Got a great deal
I normally do not play golf when it is over 90 degrees, so basically June thru September here in DFW. I made an exception to go play Bridges Firewheel when I saw a deal for $35 on a Sunday morning. Good golf, good course, friendly folks, good conditions. Bad decision on my part. Finished birdie, birdie, par and then got sick walking off the 18th green. A special thank you to the 11:10 tee time group that came up and found me in heat exhaustion and gave me ice, a cool towel, and made sure I was OK.
Well done
The course is in great shape. The price for weekend play was outstanding. Great value. People are super nice. Warm up facilities are great! 4 hour round on a weekend is outstanding.
Great Course
Favorite local course near firewheel area. The layout is excellent, the greens are well kept, price is great. Better than woodbridge, waterview, & sherril park overall. So best course in this area.
First time to play today. Course is in great shape. Will return!
Who's Fault?
It seems that nobody rakes bunkers at this course. While it's true that isn't really the course's fault, I do think that they could do more by including more than one rake per bunker. Some might not bother walking around to get the single rake you find at each bunker. I also think that a little reminder at check-in to all players would help; reminder to rake bunkers, repair ball marks, fill divots with sand...basically to do what everyone who cares about the game should be doing. I think a roaming marshal would help, to monitor here and there and make folks do what they should be doing.
So yes, it's the golfers but the course could do more to encourage people to do what they should be doing and kicking those who don't off the course!
Better than Some
3 Nines With different personalities. Greens are hard And often small, making a difficult to hold the elevated greens. GPS In the carts Is nice but the Yardage accuracy is only mediocre so bring your own rangefinder. Other than that was a nice day
Deceptive greens
Played the champions and masters courses, and the starter advised that the champions course greens were slow and the masters course greens were really fast. However, I found both very slow. Better to have stomp reading and put up the green speeds on a board.
