New Albany Links Golf Club
About
New Albany Links Golf Club sprawls across gently rolling hills covered with meandering creeks, mature trees, and native grasses and wetlands. There are also a number of lakes throughout that come into play on several holes. The golf course is a fair challenge but it prides itself on its playability. With tees ranging between 4,800 and 7,000 yards, the course accommodates a range of different skill levels. The layout features tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers throughout. New Albany Links Golf Club's 12th hole is one of the course's most memorable. It requires a long drive and an approach that carries past a long bunker and a pond to a narrow green. To the left is certain punishment but a tough up and down waits if you miss right.

Beautiful Houses! Photo submitted by Ashton9524221 on 06/12/2013
Great Public Golf
The experience was similar to playing a country club and the layout is beautiful but the amount of play and condition of the greens gives it away as a public play course. We felt a little bit rushed even though as a foursome we finished in just over 4 hours. The greens were pretty good but it is obvious that it gets a lot of play from the number of ball marks that are not repaired correctly and leave bad spots on the greens. I would like to play the course again this year and plan to in the fall. The bunkers were in bad shape, not maintained well at all.
Great layout but some maintenance issues
Played on 7/26. It has been a year or two and the layout is similar to the past with a few modifications such as hole #1 now being a dogleg left.
I did notice that a significant number of the traps were completely washed out and listed as G.U.R. . Our foursome had several free drops due to that situation.
Also, the greens are quite hard and the ball does not hold unless you hit a very high, soft approach shot. This may be a water conservation issue, but it is noticeable and each member of our group commented about it.
Staff were very friendly and despite being raided out late in the round, it was enjoyable.
A 4 rating, will go to 5 when Bunkers are finished
As noted on other reviews, the bunkers are in generally horrible shape. They did have a crew out filling the bunker on #3 with a lot of sand, so I assume they are working on all bad bunkers.
Other than the bunkers, the course rates 5 stars. Excellent fairways and greens, rough is thick, but not overly high. Several holes have waste areas just short of the green, so you can't run the ball onto the green.
Several drives have forced carries, so you may need a few extra balls here. Pro shop people friendly and helpful, as was the ranger. Got us out in front of a foursome, so we played in less than 4 hours.
New Albany will be a 5, once the bunkers are fixed.
Seems to be going downhill
I have always enjoyed this course, but I am getting disappointed. The fairways and greens are in decent shape, but the bunkers are completely unplayable. They need to be addressed immediately. Half of them had a puddle of water at the bottom (and we haven't had rain for days). The other half were muddy hardpan. They have obviously been neglected. On the plus side, we saw 5-6 guys working on filling sand on one of the bunkers on one of the holes. What about the other 30-40?
The pro shop staff could also use some help. When the guy asked if I needed to check in and I replied "yes", he walked away without a word. He came back a couple minutes later, then asked someone else to check me in.
Still a nice layout. However, I have not been impressed with the managing of New Era golf courses, as they gobble up more courses around Central Ohio...particularly, since their MO seems to be "raise the rates and neglect the course".
Downhill since last year...
I played this course a few times last year and thought it was pretty decent, although a little expensive for the quality. This time I got a great deal, but was very disappointed with just about everything.
Firstly, I arrived about 15 minutes early for my tee time and did not tee off until 15 minutes after my tee time had passed. When I gave my ticket to the Ranger, there was nobody on the first tee. He let two foursomes ahead of us (it was just me and one other player). One of the foursomes players had not even arrived yet, we were made to wait for her.
The pace of play was atrocious. It took three hours to play the front nine. There was nobody out on the course regulating play.
The course conditions were significantly worse than I remember from last year. Divots littered the fairways, and the greens were in pretty rough shape. Apparently no one takes the time to fix their ball marks here...
I will not be back.
course not bad
the greens and fairways great shape rough in good shape the sand traps were terrible rocks mud water goose debris
New management doing things right!
Seems to be better maintained tan the last few years! Fairways an greens are immaculate. Bunkers are meticulously manicured, even with all the rain we have had. Can't wait to play again!
Terrible Bunkers
The course does nor drain very well. Standing water every where. Water in all of the bunkers. Bunkers were washed out and in desperate need of sand. It got to the point where I treated the bunkers as ground under repair. Greens were just OK, a lot of them had ball marks on them. However, the course does have a challenging layout and i enjoyed that aspect. But i won't return until the conditions improve.
Nice Course...Tragic green conditions
I played here a lot last year, and had played here in April. I was told at the end of last year that driving range would be open in early April. Then I was told by the end of May. It's still not done.
The fairways are in great shape, except for all the non repaired divots from lazy and rude golfers. The greens are worse. It's like putting in a mine field. The greens are quick, but it doesn't matter if the ball won't keep it's line. It is so disappointing that many golfers that play at this course don't care about keeping the course in good condition. But it's also on management to have a ranger out there that is watching for this stuff. I saw one once the whole day. Also, this is the second time this year that I have gotten stuck behind a group of more than 4 golfers. Last time, in April, it was a fivesome. This time there were SIX golfers playing together. Again, a ranger, like they have at Golf Club of Dublin, is necessary!!! The gas carts also need to be replaced.
Worst bunkers ever
I've generally been pleased with this course in the past, but could not believe the condition of the bunkers last time out. Obviously no effort made either Thursday or Friday to prepare for play on Saturday. Many filled with water, those that weren't not raked at all, and most devoid of any sand. Fortunately I avoided most of them. Once again we started late as the course was backed up two tee times. Seems ridiculous to me they can't keep on schedule by the time 8:24 am rolls around. And forget about playing a sub 5 hour round on the weekend. Don't see many positives in New Era course managent.
Bunkers need lots of atttention
The overall condition of the course is excellent, seems that 90% of the bunkers need sand, the club would dug into muddy and the ball is going no where. Will be back soon.
Nice Day to Play
We had a great day. The weather was perfect, the course was pretty much empty at 6:30 in the morning. All in all is was a nice day to play golf!
Interesting course
Play was unusually slow, which seems to occur on most weekends. No rangers were on the course. Average time of play on most weekends seems to run from four and a half hours to six hours. Not unusual to see groups leave the course in frustration.
Good course for the money
While the teeboxes and a few greens needs some attention, overall the course was in good condition. Staff was great in accommodating our entire foursome even after we added the fourth player just hours before our tee time. When deals are available for this course, I'll play again.
Glad I came back
Its been at least 7-8 years since I played here. I left because I could not get on as a single and there always seemed like there was an outing going on.
The course was over played and getting worse.
I am happy to say that the course is in very good condition and I am glad I came back to play.
I got paired up with a couple guys and had a great time.
Facilities were in very good shape and everyone I met were accommodating and friendly.
I am looking forward to coming back to play soon.
Prepare to feel lost
First time playing this course and felt lost the entire way. As you drive in you must drive through a suburb to find the clubhouse hidden off to the side. No signs pointing where the clubhouse was! Furthermore, as you continue play they have very little to no signs pointing to where each hole is. Started off the back 9 and after playing ten I drove up to 17 by accident and had to turn around to pursue #11. Paid for 18 holes but only played 9 as it took 3 hours to play because apparently this course allows pairings of up to six. Sad to say I will not return to New Albany because the course was great and fun to play (when I wasn't waiting 20 mins in between shots) but when you have no signs, poor management of pairings, and also no maps of the holes either on the tee box or even on the score card and golf cart makes for a very frustrating experience.
Nice course, except for the bunkers
This course was pretty nice, but it was clear that the area had greatly sufferred from recent rainfall. All of the bunkers on the course were in dire need or work/repair. Overall, the fairways and greens were in good shape, and the tee boxes were excellent. The pro shop and pub were great, and the staff was superb. Again, nice course, but parts of it definitely need some work!
Great course, slow play
I'd consider myself a regular at NA Links. I love the facilities, the fairways are beautiful but the greens are terrible! Mike, one of the rangers is a great help and their new Asst Pro is a nice guy. I think they should dedicate a week or two to the greens and it would be excellent
