New Albany Links Golf Club
About
New Albany Links Golf Club sprawls across gently rolling hills covered with meandering creeks, mature trees, and native grasses and wetlands. There are also a number of lakes throughout that come into play on several holes. The golf course is a fair challenge but it prides itself on its playability. With tees ranging between 4,800 and 7,000 yards, the course accommodates a range of different skill levels. The layout features tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers throughout. New Albany Links Golf Club's 12th hole is one of the course's most memorable. It requires a long drive and an approach that carries past a long bunker and a pond to a narrow green. To the left is certain punishment but a tough up and down waits if you miss right.

New Albany Links
Great course! Back 9 is challenging! The starter is a great guy and I love the fact he always says "we have 2 rules, 1 have fun... Lol! He never gets to the second! Great course
Great time out at the Links.
The reviews I read before heading out was making the course sound pretty bleak, and it couldn't have been further from the truth. It looks like they are taking some bunkers out on the back but the course was very nice, we played after a morning of heavy rain and the course was great!
Great Course, good staff
A great course with a nice layout> Staff is friendly and good pace of play.
Finally Played It.
Maybe my expectations were too high. I thought the course would have been in better shape. Some bunkers had no sand, some fairways were marred. Greens were okay and the layout was good. I only paid $15 (GolfNow) at full price there are better courses in the area to play. However, I would play it again because it's fair and a good layout.
Ehhh
Pluses and minuses. Course looked great and played pretty well. For probably 6/18 holes, you cant really tell which way the hole was going and there was no map on the scorecard or on the hole sign. The bunkers were in absolutely horrid condition too... Standing water, hard as a rock, impossible to even rake. The fairways were being aeirated while we were there. The people driving the machines didn't stop or move out of the way while we were hitting, kind of rude. Again, pluses and minus's. Only reason we played was because we got it for $20... Wouldn't pay anymore for it
Extremely slow
After a 2 and 1/2 hour front 9 made the turn with 4 groups Waiting on tee box and no marshal to help one of the worst rounds I've ever played would have took over 6 hrs to finsh but I quite after 13 holes
nice track, could use some love.
Only my second time at the course. It's a fair test. Couple tight landing zones make you think about what you're going to use off the tee. Lots of hazards to make things interesting. Greens were firm and fast today, but also like putting on the surface of the moon because of all the unrepaired ball marks. Landing zones littered with unfilled divots. I found the staff at the desk helpfull and friendly, even the grounds crew helped me find the correct tee when I got turned around. I'd go back, probably next season when they've had time to grow some grass and fix some bunkers.
Nice
Nice course. Well maintained minus the sand traps, several were under repair and had troubles with drainage. Overall would play again.
GUR (ground under repair)
A majority of the traps has GUR spray painted in front bunker. Most had no sand in them. The traps with sand were a combination of mud with a little sand mixed in for show. Tee boxes were often burned out. Some tee boxes did not even have the markers placed (it was actually a benefit because you could look for grass). The once beautiful links grass was filled with weeds. The course conditions were so bad that I would not play it again for free.
This course needs help
Bunkers where unplayable. Greens where in poor shape due to overplay. Fairways needed divots fixed and seeded. A lot of ground under repair areas. Ponds where full of algae. Used two golf carts- both needed maintenance . Staff in bar where not very pleasant. Haven't played this course in a few years, used to be really nice. I probably won't be returning soon.
My usual course to play
I play this course all the time. The reason? Because its always in good condition. The greens always roll true and fast. However, most of the bunkers are not in good shape, but it looks like they are repairing a lot of them. The staff is always great!
It was hard, not necessarily difficult
The ground (fairways/greens) was hard, the bunkers were in poor condition (except one). Got a hot deal price so it was a good value. Pace was good (under 4 hours) but like others have stated most bunkers were pointless, like stale cookies, some retaining water. The bounces we got from the fairways and some greens seemed a bit much (helped with distance off the tee, though that can hurt too)
Great Public Golf
The experience was similar to playing a country club and the layout is beautiful but the amount of play and condition of the greens gives it away as a public play course. We felt a little bit rushed even though as a foursome we finished in just over 4 hours. The greens were pretty good but it is obvious that it gets a lot of play from the number of ball marks that are not repaired correctly and leave bad spots on the greens. I would like to play the course again this year and plan to in the fall. The bunkers were in bad shape, not maintained well at all.
Great layout but some maintenance issues
Played on 7/26. It has been a year or two and the layout is similar to the past with a few modifications such as hole #1 now being a dogleg left.
I did notice that a significant number of the traps were completely washed out and listed as G.U.R. . Our foursome had several free drops due to that situation.
Also, the greens are quite hard and the ball does not hold unless you hit a very high, soft approach shot. This may be a water conservation issue, but it is noticeable and each member of our group commented about it.
Staff were very friendly and despite being raided out late in the round, it was enjoyable.
A 4 rating, will go to 5 when Bunkers are finished
As noted on other reviews, the bunkers are in generally horrible shape. They did have a crew out filling the bunker on #3 with a lot of sand, so I assume they are working on all bad bunkers.
Other than the bunkers, the course rates 5 stars. Excellent fairways and greens, rough is thick, but not overly high. Several holes have waste areas just short of the green, so you can't run the ball onto the green.
Several drives have forced carries, so you may need a few extra balls here. Pro shop people friendly and helpful, as was the ranger. Got us out in front of a foursome, so we played in less than 4 hours.
New Albany will be a 5, once the bunkers are fixed.
Seems to be going downhill
I have always enjoyed this course, but I am getting disappointed. The fairways and greens are in decent shape, but the bunkers are completely unplayable. They need to be addressed immediately. Half of them had a puddle of water at the bottom (and we haven't had rain for days). The other half were muddy hardpan. They have obviously been neglected. On the plus side, we saw 5-6 guys working on filling sand on one of the bunkers on one of the holes. What about the other 30-40?
The pro shop staff could also use some help. When the guy asked if I needed to check in and I replied "yes", he walked away without a word. He came back a couple minutes later, then asked someone else to check me in.
Still a nice layout. However, I have not been impressed with the managing of New Era golf courses, as they gobble up more courses around Central Ohio...particularly, since their MO seems to be "raise the rates and neglect the course".
Downhill since last year...
I played this course a few times last year and thought it was pretty decent, although a little expensive for the quality. This time I got a great deal, but was very disappointed with just about everything.
Firstly, I arrived about 15 minutes early for my tee time and did not tee off until 15 minutes after my tee time had passed. When I gave my ticket to the Ranger, there was nobody on the first tee. He let two foursomes ahead of us (it was just me and one other player). One of the foursomes players had not even arrived yet, we were made to wait for her.
The pace of play was atrocious. It took three hours to play the front nine. There was nobody out on the course regulating play.
The course conditions were significantly worse than I remember from last year. Divots littered the fairways, and the greens were in pretty rough shape. Apparently no one takes the time to fix their ball marks here...
I will not be back.
course not bad
the greens and fairways great shape rough in good shape the sand traps were terrible rocks mud water goose debris
New management doing things right!
Seems to be better maintained tan the last few years! Fairways an greens are immaculate. Bunkers are meticulously manicured, even with all the rain we have had. Can't wait to play again!
