Windy Knoll Golf Club
About
Windy Knoll Golf Club is known among locals as being one of Springfield's best public golf courses. The course was built in 2001, though you would not be able to tell from its traditional links design. It manages to be a classic links golf course while still being a challenge. The site was originally a horse farm and the design incorporates some of the features from the terrain's former use. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are trees and rough lining the fairways. Golfers will find many risk-reward opportunities on the course, one good example being the par-4 eighth. This hole plays into the prevailing wind and if you miss your drive, you may find yourself in one of the eight bunkers surrounding the undulating green.

Best in the area
I haven't played every course in the Miami Valley area, but of the many I have, this is by far my favorite. The price is good, the course is always in amazing shape. The only complaint I have is, it's hard to tell how far from the hole you are. Bring a rangefinder if you have one. I wish they'd put those tablets in the cart like other courses are getting that tell you how far you hit and how far you are from the green.
Windy Knoll great Value and challenging
Great course, challenging. I did loose 3 balls. Greens were great. Balls held the greens, fairways are in great shape. Rough was long, Play was a little slow but in fairness it was a holiday weekend. All in all it was a great round.
Gem
This is a very well maintained course. Very tight in places. Great hole layouts. Overall challenging. Highly recommend
Great Course for a Great Price
Played on a beautiful day early in the morning. We were the second group off so it was a great pace. The course was in tremendous shape, greens were a bit sandy and bumpy but fairways and rough were in great shape. Top quality public course in the area.
fun day
I loved the course. the only complaint i had was the maintenance people would not get off the green when we were hitting into them and in a couple of cases they remained on the green while we putted out,
Snooze fest
This course is nice but the seem to be letting go of some grooming especially around the tee boxes. What makes me sour is the pace of play. Seems like the over book. Usually have 1-3 groups waiting on 1 to tee off. Took me and my buddy almost 6 hours to play 18. 5-10 minute wait minimum between shots waiting for fairways and greens to clear. If they booked every other tee time this would be enjoyable. I won’t be coming back unless I have a big group. Of course the whole time we were not able to play through. Just disappointed in the course.
Wet but fun
It rained for most of the morning but it was still enjoyable. I find the course very challenging
Excellent course
Played every club in my bag...played the white tees. Not much wind today compared to the last time that I played here, but it was challenging, and made getting par or better more enjoyable.
Very good track
Windy Knoll always lives up to its name. Course was in very good shape even though it was ver cold fir late May and very Windy. Greens rolled true.
Overplayed
The course did not appear to be well maintained. Course rough was weeds not grass. Play for our group of 2 was behind a foursome who had a coach and who all gathered in front of the green on 9 and had a 10 minute meeting. Being inconsiderate is not the fault of the golf course but they had no one out that I saw managing play.
Outstanding public course.
Great track, challenging superb Green’s, hoping they can get their bunkers back in top shape.
Pace of Play
Unbelievably slow.
Two some’s and singles sandwiched together.
Need to start sending out foursomes.
