Windy Knoll Golf Club
About
Windy Knoll Golf Club is known among locals as being one of Springfield's best public golf courses. The course was built in 2001, though you would not be able to tell from its traditional links design. It manages to be a classic links golf course while still being a challenge. The site was originally a horse farm and the design incorporates some of the features from the terrain's former use. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are trees and rough lining the fairways. Golfers will find many risk-reward opportunities on the course, one good example being the par-4 eighth. This hole plays into the prevailing wind and if you miss your drive, you may find yourself in one of the eight bunkers surrounding the undulating green.

Windy Knolll
Windy Knoll is one of the best courses in the Dayton area and well worth the drive to Springfield. It is in excellent shape with challenging greens and a variety of tees for every level of golfer. The staff is always extremely courteous and friendly.
Played there 30 plus times always in good condition and great staff and food/beer
Nice course
Nice course, really good layout and a lot of fun holes! Not the most pristine course but definitely worth the 25 bucks I paid for! Staff was super friendly and pace of play was great! Will be back!
Best Golf Course Great Staff
Best Golf Course with awesome fairways. Great greens. Very well manicured. Great staff. . Excellent food. And awesome drink and food vendors on the course.
New course
If playing this course for the first time grab a booklet in the clubhouse. We did not because the staff did not suggest it, another golfer on the course did. Distances off the tee are crucial for playing this course well. Fairways are difficult to hit unless striking the ball well, greens are very nice and rolled smoothly. Very nice layout, links style on the front nine which I enjoyed the most.
A nice course, bring money for your concessions.
The course overall was in decent condition, larger groups of older persons playing did hold up 2-3 groups on the same hole. The group did not allow anyone to play through however we allowed several singles to play through us Throughout the day
This was the only frustrating part to golfing there. The prices at the concession stand were more expensive than other places I have golfed, however I would go off here again.
Excellent course
Great layout, with an open from nine great for scoring and a challenging back nine with some wicked doglegs. Definitely going to play it again.
Great Day
With all the blistering sun we’ve had the course was phenomenal. Absolutely amazing pace of play was superb
Phenomenal
This was my first time playing Windy and it lived up to the ratings. Course staff was friendly and Marshall was doing his thing even saw him repairing green divots in between groups. The course layout was fairly open on the front and built for scoring but that back nine gets tighter and really tests your shot making ability. Overall I am playing here again and again and again.
Prepaid and left hanging!
These folks are just plain dishonest and don’t care about their customers! I’ve never enjoyed a course less than this course and these people.
Scammers, don’t pre-pay
I’d love to be able to write a thoroughly descriptive review, but instead here’s this;
I prepaid Saturday evening for a round Sunday AM, $45.00. Later that night she told me her Dad needed a hand moving a bench at her mothers house.
No big deal right? Call for a refund or just get a rain check like every other course has done for me countless times.
The young man at the front desk said to just “print my confirmation # and bring it in”, since I informed him I’d rather pay extra for a weekday than deal with GN customer service.
Today the different young man at the counter said that would not work, they don’t even receive money from GN, I wouldn’t be refunded or receive a round. Needless to say I told him keep the money and enjoy it, if that’s how you do business you will need it more than me.
Diamond in the Rough
First timer today and wow what a track. Not for the weak of heart but fair. Requires you to hit from point A to B. A bit tight in spots and the greens rolled beautifully. Had heard wonderful things over the years about Windy Knolls and now I know why. I’ll be back soon.
