About
Windy Knoll Golf Club is known among locals as being one of Springfield's best public golf courses. The course was built in 2001, though you would not be able to tell from its traditional links design. It manages to be a classic links golf course while still being a challenge. The site was originally a horse farm and the design incorporates some of the features from the terrain's former use. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are trees and rough lining the fairways. Golfers will find many risk-reward opportunities on the course, one good example being the par-4 eighth. This hole plays into the prevailing wind and if you miss your drive, you may find yourself in one of the eight bunkers surrounding the undulating green.

Golf Shop Staff
Due to all the rain we were cart path only. Golf course was in excellent shape. Golf shop staff was very friendly and helpful prior to our round. Will definitely be back to play.
Great Course
I have played this course a lot. First time back in years though. I remember there being yardage sticks though so you could get an idea how far from the green you were and now they are gone. That is the only complaint I have. The course is in great condition. Still love the course.
Windy Knoll Round # 200 at least
Windy Knoll has been my course of choice for a couple years. Every time I play here it is always enjoyable. Great pro shop staff, friendly and accommodating.
Nice course
Great layout, fair course. Due to all the rain the course was wet and greens slow. Being first one out play was fast. Definitely should play this course.
Sunday play, NOT GOOD
I play this course frequently & I have started noticing just one thing that really bothers me.. let me start with I can only play golf on Thursday or sunday... Playing this course on Thursday is fantastic every time I play... Sundays on the other hand are a mess, last 5 or 6 times I've played this course on a Sunday it is WAY overbooked & takes forever to play a round... I've been playing golf for 20+ yrs & I get it, everyone wants to play in Sunday & it's usually packed anywhere you go but don't book so many tee times that people are waiting on top of each other & it takes nearly 5 & 1/2 hrs to finish a round by myself on a sunday... Course is fantastic to play, conditions are great, clubhouse is nice, & even have really good food but really need to work on the Sunday booking issue.... Not just me either, I've talked to numerous people at the course on a Sunday that are just frustrated with the over booking & hideous waiting times between shots
Nice course
Had a early tee time, wet conditions but the staff was great and greens were well manicured and fast! Only issue is we had our cart die over half way through but they immediately brought us a new one and it didn’t slow our play at all. Good spacing between groups. Great course for a good price!
Everything went well. Course in good shape for this time of year. Very friendly staff and good price. Will come again often.
Great value, great course!
Played this course for the first time after finding a hot deal for $17. Course was in great shape especially for this early in the season. Staff at the grill/bar was extremely friendly! Will definitely be returning to play at Windy Knolls
How A Golf Round Should Be
Our foursome were the dew sweepers today and that's how we like it. No one to hold us up and we can finish around easily under four hours. The course was in good condition and the weather was cool but otherwise perfect. A great spring rate value at $25 on a Saturday morning.
Good day to be out
The course did not have my reservation, but they honored it anyway. Busy place yesterday. They had sanded the greens, so putting was not great.
Improving Course
This course is steadily improving and is a lot of fun to play. Some of the greens have been damaged by wildlife, but most are interesting and receptive to good shots. The bunkers have been renovated and are well positioned. Friendly staff.
The only suggestion I have is to improve the rough, although I realize that this would slow down rounds.
Course in good shape for time of year.
In the area for a few days and saw the hot deal at the course. Well worth the drive out. Staff was very friendly and the course is in the best shape compared to anywhere Ive played in KY this year. Greens rolled pretty well and I managed to shoot 2 shots under my handicap first time out. Would definitely play again. Speed of play was fine. My only negative is there's not many yardage markers out there. The only ones I could find were 150 markers and they were really small in the fairways. Plan to play again while I'm in the area.
Harassing Rangers
The first time at this course and my last time at this course thanks to the Rangers. Two groups ahead of us and two groups behind us we're all keeping Pace with each other. When you're being told to pick up the pace and you're 152 the pain with the group in front of you on the Green is pitiful. And it was constant. What drew the line is when the ranger came into the clubhouse while people were getting a hot dog and pop and told them to hurry up it's something I've never experienced and 19 years of playing golf at any course. Other than that staff was friendly and course was in good condition for this time of year. When the ranger is constantly riding you it makes for a terrible experience.
GC's Favorite Golf Course
I first played Windy Knoll 12 or so years ago and immediately liked it. I think it has everything that makes a great golf course. Long holes, short holes, uphill and downhill shots, all four lies, several ponds that come into play and plenty of bunkers. The course is always in great condition, nice fairways, the greens are smooth and fairly fast with unseen breaks that will make you talk to yourself. It has five sets of tees to fit anyone's game. Now that I'm retired, I try to play three or four times per week. Nice staff, too! Hurry up Spring Time!!
Windy Knoll
Always a great trip over to Springfield to play this track 2-3 times per season.
However due to some serious turf & grass problems the course was not in very good shape vs. previous outings. Hopefully they will correct whatever issue they are having with the turf before we return next season. Given those conditions we experienced on Saturday I would think either a pre round notification would have been in order or a discounted fee to play would have been in order.
