Windy Knoll Golf Club
About
Windy Knoll Golf Club is known among locals as being one of Springfield's best public golf courses. The course was built in 2001, though you would not be able to tell from its traditional links design. It manages to be a classic links golf course while still being a challenge. The site was originally a horse farm and the design incorporates some of the features from the terrain's former use. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are trees and rough lining the fairways. Golfers will find many risk-reward opportunities on the course, one good example being the par-4 eighth. This hole plays into the prevailing wind and if you miss your drive, you may find yourself in one of the eight bunkers surrounding the undulating green.

Good all around test
Really good layout and pretty well manicured but greens were cut too short and basically unplayable because of the undulation, pin placements, and speed.
Outing Wear and tear
Labor day, think there was a lot of play or outings, only reason I didn't offer 5 stars was the condition of the greens. LOTS of ball marks and scuffs. Think at after a week, the greens could heal nicely and there would be a problem. Exceptional course otherwise. Always fun.
LOG JAM
Condition o.k. - fairways excellent but greens not.
Pins had not been set "flush" on holes #10 thru 18 meaning slight hump around them.
As was our experience last 2 times we played
Windy Knoll, the first 9 we played flowed smoothly
then we made the turn with a LOG JAM in front of us
comprised of groups who had not played the first nine
This made for a very very very slow 2nd nine resulting in an unpleasant loooong round.
Best in Area
The best golf course I have played in this Area.I will play it again!!!!
Poorly ran
I loved the layout of this golf course. It was manageable from about any tee, for about any level of golfer. The greens were in fairly poor shape due to the lack of pitch marks and spike marks being repaired, the fairways were not maintained as expected, but the rough was manageable so we weren't searching for balls too long. The issue that I had, was that we arrived an hour early, and while I understand that since we were a twosome and they would have wanted to pair us up, there were SO MANY groups of 2 and singles that wanted to play through and we were even hit into as we were walking off of the 7th green from the foursome behind us that never did catch up with us after that. This is very upsetting as our twosome could have been sent off upon arrival as there weren't any groups from the time that we arrived, until the time that we teed off an hour and eight minutes later, only to have been rushed for our entire round. I will not go back and I have no desire to play on a course that I do not feel that I'm valued as a paying customer.
Great
Love playing this course we play the sliver so it's long and a challenge
Great challenge!
Course is interesting to anyone who loves golf. It takes many types of yardage and turns into the long distance shots along water and the greens are not easy to read. You will improve your game or high score it.
Nice Layout and Course
Bunkers need attention. Beware course opens at 8, If you have an early tee, be prepared to not hit beforehand or schedule accordingly.
Definitely Play Here.
I've been wanting to play this course for years and finally made it happen. If I had known how good this course was, I would've played it multiple times a year. Don't be like me and wait 10 years to play here, just go do it. I will take the thank you's now.
Go to course
One the the best courses in the area, and the fair prices are just a bonus. I love the layout and the reversal of the two 9s. Windy Knoll also has on of the most underrated patios around.
The people are nice, the prices are competitive and the golf is great.
Great value
Hard to believe you can play this course for this price. Very friendly staff, great layout. Better bring your best short game and keep the ball below the hole.
