Windy Knoll Golf Club

About
Windy Knoll Golf Club is known among locals as being one of Springfield's best public golf courses. The course was built in 2001, though you would not be able to tell from its traditional links design. It manages to be a classic links golf course while still being a challenge. The site was originally a horse farm and the design incorporates some of the features from the terrain's former use. Water hazards come into play frequently throughout the golf course and there are trees and rough lining the fairways. Golfers will find many risk-reward opportunities on the course, one good example being the par-4 eighth. This hole plays into the prevailing wind and if you miss your drive, you may find yourself in one of the eight bunkers surrounding the undulating green.

Windy Knoll Golf Club
Played alone early in the morning. Nobody pushing me & never waited to hit.
Nice Course
Links style course that plays as easy or tough as you want to make it depending on tee box selected. Would play again
If you read one review make it this one
I’m a Dayton local, I’ve lived here for several years and I’ve played everything in the area. Windy knoll is by far the best bang for your buck. The people are friendly and the course is great. I’ve never had any issues with pace of play and I really enjoy the unique layout. I think you will have a blast playing here and I’m telling you if you’re debating between Windy Knoll and something else that may be 5-10 minutes closer…you should drive the extra 10 and have a blast at Windy Knoll
Cut paths to tees would be appreciated.
Very much enjoyed course but did not enjoy wading through heavy thick grass to reach tees - a narrow cut path would be very much an improvement. First cut was also long in that balls were difficult to see and find. Greens were excellent though pitch marks had not been repaired.
Love this course
The course was in great shape as usual. Greens were playing a little fast, but not unfair. Course was challenging. The only issue was not due to course issues, but the four ancient guys that thought that they were playing for a million dollars payout.
A good challenge
The greens were running fast. It seemed like it may have been "Greenskeeper's revenge" day. The pin placements were tough. You want to stay below the hole if possible.
We played the gold tees. My only complaint was that no path had been mowed to the tee box. We had to walk through foot tall Heather to get to the tees.
On many holes if you hit an errant shot, it will find foot tall grass. Your ball will be almost impossible to find. Bring plenty of balls!
Great Experience
Staff was friendly upon arrival. It was a slow day for the course. The food was good at The Stables. We will definitely be back!
You can't fool mother nature!
Nice course. Behind on the mowing following a week of heavy rain. Traps were washed out and unplayable due to the heavy rains. Had several fairways closed due to moisture but we're a little slow opening them because they were dry when we played. Are in the process of removing all the fencing. Look forward to playing again when the mowing is caught up and traps renewed.
Just average
It was super windy when we played. The rough was super thick. Felt rushed during play. There were bathrooms on the course but were both locked. Not convenient for the women. There were no ball washers. Overall, it was an ok course to play.
Great course, better value
Fairways were excellent, and greens were perfect speed. The geese were a little perturbed however.
Is a solid layout and good condition
First off the course is worth $35 green fee with cart. I probably wouldn’t play it for much more. Condition is fair slow greens although I sure that’s more because of the time of year and a really good layout. But no driving range zero reason not to have your range open by now. No bathrooms on the course guess they want you to pee In the neighbors yard. No ball washers seems minor but never seen a high end course not have them at least on every other hole. The last few times I’ve played it been cart path and rough orly. If your going to have rough only no reason you can’t do 90 degree at that point your better off walking. I will not return's until they at least they open there driving range and get a better cart rule. It’s a good value at 30-35 dollars but there are plenty of good courses in that price range that have all the amenities I’ve mentioned.
Great gem in Indiana
Enjoyed this course passing thru IN. Good layout, good greens, good golf carts. Great value and check in w/ the long time pro went smooth. You won't be disappointed.
