Indian Ridge Golf Club
About
Located just a few miles south of Oxford, Indian Ridge Golf Club sprawls across rolling countryside sprinkled with walnut and cedar trees. It's the only course around for miles, making it the default favorite for local golfers but it's also popular for the affordable rates. The location provides peaceful seclusion as well as idyllic scenery. The golf course has a classic design with plenty of variety, giving it appeal for players of all skill levels. Water hazards and bunkers come into play throughout the course, often making for difficult approaches. Indian Ridge Golf Club stretches to just over 7,000 yards from the back tees. There are some holes that will please long hitters and risk-reward opportunities that will test advanced players, but the design is still player friendly enough for high handicappers.

Really enjoyed this course! It was in excellent shape with a great layout. Will definitely play it again.
Hidden gem
Having gone to school in Oxford I drove by this course countless times. Never did I imagine this would become my course of choice. I don't know if there is a better value in butler county. Pace of play is great unless there is an outing but that is not the courses fault. Because this course sits at a high point geographically there is almost always a breeze and the views are spectacular on clear days. They have really put a lot of work into this course over the last 3 years clearing trees over growth and cleaning up the sand.
Glad I gave this course a 2nd chance
I had played Indian Ridge last year and the pace of play was horrible. I am glad to report that I was able to play as a single between a threesome and a foursome, very surprising I went off alone, in barely over 4 hours. The fairways were in good shape, we have had a great deal of rain, but they were not overly wet or muddy except for a few exceptions. The tee boxes showed a great deal of use especially on par 3's and par 4's that call for an iron off the tee. I was very pleased with the overall condition of the course. The greens rolled very smooth, when you could find a clear path. This brings me to my only negative of the course, the greens were beat up. There were so many ball marks on the greens it was unbelievable. I do not blame this on the course at all, I blame it on the inconsiderate golfers that do not take the fix yours and another approach. I would gladly play at this course again, and hopefully they get the word out to their regulars to fix their ballmarks, because if hey can fix this I would give excellent ratings for condition.
Constantly improving
This course has continued to improved over the past few years. It used to be my go to course when other course were on cart path only. Now it is my favorite course. The new owners have put in a tremendous amount of work improving the course. Hot Tee times can be as low as $12.00.
Great layout. No two holes are the same. Bunkers, fairways, and greens are in great shape. Greens on the front nine seem to be a little faster. Plenty of bunkers and forced carries over water to keep this course challenging. Most greens are fairly flat but do have several are multi-tiered.
A course headed in the right direction!
My understanding was that previous management had let the course go downhill. I can see there's still work being done to improve the course. New management has and is doing a good job of turning it into a fine golf course. I would recommend it.
Misinformed
The t-time we purchased followed the start of a scramble. We waited on every single shot on every hole. If we had known we were following a scramble, we would not have purchased this particular t-time.
Definitely improving
They are doing major renovations to improve the course, have added in sections of concrete cart paths where there was previously eroding blacktop. Fairways, greens and tee boxes were in great shape.
Features
Nice mix of water, sand, and trees. Greens are fast and are some of the best in the area. Hit the fairways and get some PGA rolls. Nice mix of tight and open holes. Course is very playable and a lot of fun.
Course is changing
This is my go to course. They are constantly improving this course. They are removing most of the trees and brushes making it wide open. Added a new pond in 2016 and another one this year. The layout is great. It can be slow when they are busy. Now sure why there aren't a lot of places left to be searching for a low ball. Bunkers are well maintained. Most greens are flat but putts roll true. I find my score is lower on this course than most others that I play. Length of holes seem shorter than the scorecard indicates.
Greatly Improved
I must say that the improvements that have been made at this course are awesome. Clearing out the brush, improved traps, fairways much nicer and the added water that is needed but adds to the beauty of the course. Turning out to be my favorite golf course in the greater Cincinnati area.
Indian Ridge rocks
Greens in great shape but some tees need some work.
Many improvements underway since last year making it a little easier and more fun to play.
Follow Up Review-Much Improved!
Just wanted to post a follow up to a previous review where I was critical of the pin positions. Played Indian Ridge Nov. 7th and am pleased to report there were no issues at all with the pin placements. Everything was fairly placed and if you hit a good approach or a good chip you were rewarded with a makeable putt. When this course is set up this way, it is a joy to play! We also like the "stick" yardage markers at 150 and 100 yards, they really help in club selection. The course itself is still in excellent condition even though we have reached November. Well Done!
Loads of fun at Indian Ridge
Our group has enjoyed every round at Indian Ridge. Great layout in excellent condition. Tees are fair for all handicaps and the par threes are fun. We'll be coming back soon.
Nice course but man those pin placements.
I've played this course a number of times this year. Fine layout except for the quirk that several of the greens slope away from the fairways, but that is what it is. The biggest complaint I have is that on a number of occasions I thought I signed up for a game of "Superintendent's Revenge." The pins are often set on humps, right on the edge of a tier in a two tiered green, on the front edge of a green that slopes away from the fairway, etc. Often it is impossible to stop an approach putt anywhere near the hole, and then the second one has a ton of break. This kind of practice can really hurt a business as if you're a good player and can't post a score because of 5 3-putts like I had yesterday, you might opt to go somewhere else next time. It's supposed to be flat three feet around the cup (according to the USGA) and besides that, at our level the game is supposed to be fun. It's easily correctable, but it really needs to be done. And, considering how far this course has come the past couple of years and how good the management seems to be, I'm betting this practice will change for the better.
Thanks for the comments and thanks for coming out to play. So sorry you had a bad experience with our pin placements. While we try to put the pins in places that are fair, this particular day we must have not done a good job on that. I assure you this is not our intent to have hard pin placements and we will try to do better with our future pin placements. Thanks
Much improved
I used to play Indian Ridge only when I could get a hot deal green fee. After 2 years of steady improvements, this is my favorite course in the Cincinnati area. This course is fairly challenging. I generally play early afternoons during the week. Pace of play is rarely an issue. 3 to 3.5 hour rounds are pretty typical.
Hard fast course in excellent condition
Found course to be in surprisingly excellent condition for this time of year. The ground was hard but the greens were receptive and fast.
Recommend
Definitely recommend Indian Ridge golf course, one of our most favorite to play.
One of the best around!!
Course is in great shape!! Fairways and greens are excellent!!!
Decent experience for the cost
Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Nice clubhouse and food/bar area, super reasonable prices on food and drink. Course itself was just ok. Fairways were in good shape for as little as its been raining, bunkers were the best in the area I've seen this year. Most greens were in good shape, but tons of spike marks, ball marks everywhere. My complaint would be with the pin placements, which on some holes were just ridiculous to the point of unreasonable, and with the overall layout of the back 9 in general. Just wasn't a fan of that 9, but nothing the staff can do about that. Overall, good experience. I'd go back but not my first choice in area courses.
Great front, horrible back
Day started off great, teed off by myself at 12:30, one twosome in front of me that I hardly ever had to wait on for more than a couple minutes, and on most holes there was no waiting. Played the front nine in about 1.5 hours. Teed off on the back and had to wait on EVERY shot. There was now the two some in front of me and a 4 some that was playing very slow in front of them. I got a killer hot deal from golf now for $10, so after an hour and a 15 minutes and only playing 4 holes on the back I turned around and left.
The course itself was in pretty good shape, nothing outstanding, but decent. The fairways were in really good shape but the greens were rough, with lots of unfixed and improperly fixed ball marks. Was hard on a number of holes to get a clean roll to the hole.
I would like to play this course again as I enjoyed it until the pace of play ruined a great round of golf. The holes on the back that I could see but did not play looked like they would be enjoyable.
Thanks so much for coming out and playing our golf course and giving us your thoughts. So sorry that your experience turned bad with slower play. Our daily pace of play is 2.25 per nine holes and 4.5 hours for 18. Being a single player I understand that 4.5 hours is a long time for golf, but for a foursome it is our pace of play. Please join us through the week on the hot deal and the pace should be somewhat better because of amount of foursomes. Hope to have you play soon. Thanks
Sir, so sorry that the pace of play was slow this particular day. We try our best to keep play moving as we have rangers and starters each and everyday. If you call our Pro Shop and check our tee times we would have informed you of scramble that day, however if you book online you probably didn't see it. Hope you will give Indian Ridge another try.
