Clearwater Country Club
About
Located just minutes from the beach, the conveniently situated Clearwater Country Club sprawls across a coastal landscape of Spanish moss-draped trees and towering, mature oaks. Stevenson Creek meanders through the golf course, coming into play on six holes. Built in 1920, the layout has a traditional design that is challenging but fair. The course is tight but it plays long, especially on the par 5s. The rolling fairways are well manicured and the greens play at medium speed and are consistently well maintained. Clearwater C.C. actually has a reputation amongst locals for its superb conditions. It is also popular with visitors, snowbirds specifically, since the club offers the area's only seasonal and short-season membership with exclusive privileges. It is also one of the few clubs in the area that allows walking.

First timer
Had passed the course many times, and have wanted to play it.. finally did yesterday, and I was very happy with all aspects of the day. I was paired with three great guys. Course seems to be greening up nicely, with the greens. while slow, we’re very nice… and the fun experience started with the gents in the shop.
Overall, I am anxious to return…

Played with a relative from Philadelphia who was deprived of golf for about 5 months. I have played CCC before and understand it's layout and quirks.
Checked in an hour early we hit range for a warm-up .Range balls are not cheap anymore, $10 for a small bucket approx 50 balls? I am not a fan of swinging off mats. The nicely groomed chipping area (w/sand) is a plus as is the well manicured putting green.
We were paired up to make a foursome and teed off 20 minutes after posted start.
The course in a nutshell is fun to play, with pace I can define as Florida slow. The fairways, hazards, bunkers and greens were all well maintained. The tee boxes did not thrill me....period! Peak tourist season these should be cut.
Thanks to the 2 guys from Michigan who made it a fun round. Mike, at the Bar, who provided post round pain relief to my relative. Mike Rison, who is Pro at range is a great guy. I recommend him for lessons.
Poor Conditions
It took us 5 hours to play. They sent groups off way too close together, as we waited on EVERY HOLE. It was 86 degrees and NOT one cooler of water.
Way over priced for conditions.
Does John Daley play here?
They need to do a better job of staggering tee times. You’ll be lucky to finish 18 in 4 and a half hours. No starter or rangers. Singles and club members go out at will. You’ll be closer to 5 hour play. For that reason I don’t think the price is worth it. I do enjoy the course layout and every time I have played it’s in good shape. So kudos to the greens crew. They really lean into the John Daley image and you would think you got a meet and greet for the price of admission. Club house and pro shop is outdated.
Good course price point
Greens where good lots of grass on them and areas well watered fairways sparse in spots some layout holes worth while to have book to see layout area . All in all good day would definitely go back
CCC is A- OK
Clearwater Country Club plays long for women from the green tees. There are forward red/orange tees set in the fairway, also rated for GHIN .. Greens are in great shape but are not fast. The rough is either dry and easy to hit from, or it's that soft thick dusty dirt out of which is deceivingly difficult to hit a powerful shot.
It's a very well run course and it's in decent shape.
Lovely Day
Greens are excellent but challenging. Fairways have real grass. Pace was good, no waiting, no one pushing us. Staff was very friendly.
Busy Presidents Day Round
Great Day. Course managed the holiday crowd well. Greens were pristine!
Nice for area
The course was nice and in about average condition for the area. Apparently the course has changed in the last few years and the GPS does not work for the course which was annoying at times. Greens were fast and most of the course is well maintained overall. Would recommend as a course comparable to others on the area
Yes. I don’t recall if it was last year or the year before, they swapped the back nine and the front nine. Played yesterday and had the same issue with my gps. I’m surprised they haven’t been updated yet.
