Whispering Oak at Verandah

My partner and I had an exceptional day on the Whispering Oak course. After a few balls on the driving range, we were on the course. We were neither pushed from behind nor delayed from groups in front. We both would recommend this course to anyone.

course was difficult to find, used temporary gate some 2+ miles from GPS gate; staff only marginally friendly; course itself was "okay" with wide open fairways, some water hazards, but greens were in only "fair" condition; a couple of really tough holes (400+ yard par 4s from whites), but manageable ... value at a deep discount, but I wouldn't pay their regular rate

Overall, a great course to play in SWFL. Getting a great deal on Golfnow.com made it even better. Great practice facility as well (included in play).

Actually played old orange as whispering oaks was closed for maintenance The whole complex is really spread out. The course was cart path only because of super saturated conditions. We drove thru standing water between a couple of holes. Greens are large but putted true A fun experience. Do not believe the directions on golf now. We almost missed our tee time.

above average conditions for this part of southwest florida

This course was a bear to navigate. There were no signs or directions to get from hole to hole and many times we had to turn around to get to the correct hole. Also at each hole there was no picture of the layout of the hole and it was not on the scorecards either. If you did not have a Garmin most shots were blind.

Played Whispering Oak. No great hazards off tee. Greens slick but manageable. Would go back to play Old Orange but had a pleasant enough day out.

Excellent condition from the tee through the green. Very enjoyable course.

The Verandah complex has two 18 hole layouts and I played the Whispering Oak layout which had the Jack Nicklaus signature written all over, It has everything, water, waste bunkers and lots of sand traps. Although it was a difficult day to golf because of the strong wind, I still enjoyed it because the course was in great conditions.
I am planning to play it again before I head back to Toronto.

The course delivered what it promised. The fairways were forgiving and the greens were challenging. The staff explained what we needed to know although there was no staff (rangers of cart staff) on the course. An enjoyable experience.

Played the forward tees. The fairways are wide and forgiving. It is the greens that create a challenge if not familiar with the course.

Very nice course, well maintained, moderately difficult, and friendly staff. I would play here again! P.s. the only reason I didn't give this course a 5 out of 5 is because the don't except cash anywhere on the premises.. Which I found odd.

Would definitely play here again. Staff were great.

If you are a member of this club, the people in the pro shop including the course pro are very combative. Starter was good along with the cart guys. Could not leave quick enough after our round.

Nice course, very well maintained. Challenging enough to keep it interesting. Would recommend.

One of the best courses in Southwest Fl. Whispering Oaks ranks right at the top.

Great condition as usual, fun and challenging highly recommended.

As I walked in the door i got an immediate tuck in your shirt which is designed to be out. THen when returning the cart I was told I parked in the wrong spot which was about 20' out of place i guess but no signs telling you that. Lastly we played in the rain and asked for extra towels but were told by the ranger he woiuld have to go back to the clubhouse and never returned. Definately not customer friendly.
