Carved from pine, oak, and magnolia trees, Cypress Lakes Golf Club tumbles through gently hilly terrain, a rare landscape for a Florida course. Formerly known as the Solutia Golf Club, Cypress Lakes is also covered with hundreds of crepe myrtles and blooming azaleas and of course, cypress trees. Water comes into play on a few holes and the trees can prove to be tricky but the challenges of the golf course are balanced with the generous width of the fairways. The course's playability appeals to a variety of different skill levels, especially with four sets of tees available as well. In addition to the course, there are also extensive practice facilities available at Cypress Lakes Golf Club including an all-grass driving range, a practice putting green, and a practice bunker.

Decent track
Course was wet from all of the rain. Wish they had layout printed. Good value but was out of the way for us. Not sure how golf now went from 15 miles to 48 minute drive. Staff was very friendly. Some condition problems on a few greens. Guys that were mowing were courteous, shut down and waited.
Pace of play hurts this course
Fairways are in good shape. The greens are recovering from an early season aeration but roll fairly smooth and are considerably faster than normal for this course, which is a positive improvement. The recurring issue with this course is the slow pace of play. There is often a marshall making rounds, including today, but not actually marshalling. Beware members, where fivesomes are common, who won't let a 2, 3-, or 4-some play through unless you're willing to skip over them to continue to the next hole.
Golf with hubby
Nice day out and course in decent shape. Greens had been aerated recently and still a bit bumpy. Overall fast pace round and no pushy folks just great pace.
First time playing the course
New to the area and wanted to play a local course. Me and a buddy went and had a good time. For the money, the course was solid. Conditions were average, but that goes along with the price of the course. The layout is nice and opens you up for many different shots. It’s not very long for the shorter hitters either . Greens are small and challenge your short irons and wedges. Greens did not have a bad roll. Only complaint is that we were both new and there isn’t a sketch of the course at the start of each hole and some have blind landing spots so gauging spots to layup is difficult. I’d play this course again.
The course is soft and plays long with tiny greens. The turf is extremely inconsistent and sparse in a lot of areas. On the day we played the front nine was closed, but we were not informed of this ahead of time. The greens have improved slightly since my last visit.

the course played as tough as ever. It humbles the average golfer.
Need A Challenge
Out of the many courses I have played throughout the USA, this is the most challenging layout I have encountered. One day I may be able to meet such a grueling test. If you need that kind of challenge, I recommend this course.
Nope
Course was not in good shape. A Foursome of guys held up 3 groups for 5 holes before allowing everyone through once someone passed by them by skipping holes and let them know they were slow. No ranger help.
Our cart ran out of gas on the 6th hole. When the guy came to get it, he said they gas carts once per week on wednesdays. Strange, because they do not control which carts get used so some could have 10 rounds and some 0 in the same week.
Course conditions - very rough - greens very slow - course had lots of poor drainage/mud.
Clubhouse is a shack with outside restrooms.
Property would be better used as a landfill/subdivision.

Large groups playing today, so pace slow. Marshalls somewhat helpful.

A nice challenge.
This course has a nice layout, with challenges for all. I would have given it higher ratings for conditions, unfortunately it had been raining for the week prior to playing, so it was very wet and muddy. The clubhouse is not much, but everyone there was very nice. The carts were good. Overall a very good value and we will play here again.

The course should not have been open. After recent rains this course is so hilly it just doesn't drain that well. The damage done by walkers and their pull carts will stay for a long time. The greens were great.
