Nice layout
Greens need work maybe it’s just time of year. Has lots of doglegs and blind shots needs a couple of rounds to get comfortable on course overall a nice surprise
the layout of the course was great
the fairways were good for the dry condition but the greens left a lot to be desired there was one green on the front that was good and one on the back that was good other than you had no idea which way the ball was going to go after it hit the bare spots. Will not return.
Disappointing
Only 3 greens were putt worthy, the rest are in desperate need of repair. I don’t like writing negative reviews but when courses are struggling to stay open, at least be honest with your reviews. The positive reviews are why we gave this place a shot. Check in was a breeze, very nice customer service but that’s where the positives end unfortunately. The course is inundated with weeds, tee boxes are just terrible and again the greens are just sad. One and done for us out here, could see this place closing soon if they don’t reinvest and start getting more play.
Oakwood G/C Lake Wales, FL
The tee boxes and fairways are , for the most part, in good condition. The greens are a different story... misinformation led to an incorrect application of a treatment on the greens and it damaged the winter rye and left the greens very blotchy. The layout of the course is interesting and is a pretty good test for all levels of players.
Some of the greens and tee boxes need inprovment. But love the layout of the whole course.
Great day
Super staff and I love the nee Sunday brunch and really happy they started the twilight golf.
Fairways are in excellent shape and greens are really showing the work that was put in. Couple of teeboxes are starting to look rough and could use some work, but overall, it is the best course in the area for the price. I know because I have played them. It is my favorite course in the area and I will probably play there again this week.
Great day to golf
Course was laid out great, wonderful views,5 sets of tees, just a great round of golf, some minor problems with the greens , but great fairways and wonderful my 4 some loved it.
Throwback
After a long drive from Kissimmee we were met with a very genuine "Hello" in the pro shop from Tyler. He made us feel very welcomed and gladly provided a few pointers about the course ending with a warning about the temporary green on #9 whle the old green is getting a makeover. At the turn he even asked how things were going. And later Tyler drove out to shut off the #14 fairway sprinklers that had come on by mistake.
While we agree with one criticism - poor green conditions - the layout is like going back in time to Florida's golfing heydey. Most of the fairways are wide and well kept with only a few bunkers to throw you off. The rough is mostly overgrown brush, dead trees and a few cactus (kind of like playing in Texas).
As you drive between holes you'll see piles of huge trees like they were cut down to make way for some type of development.
We enjoyed the pace of play as it seemed we were the only ones on the course on this Thursday afternoon. If we're in the area again we will be back.
Poor conditions
Avoid this course. Greens are horrible. One temporary green and there should have been several more temp greens. Traveled 22 miles based on value to play a 4 star rated course, big mistake. Will not play here again.
Rough Shape
We chose the course because it was rated 4 stars …. its is a 2 or less. The condition of the greens were horrible One hole had a temporary green and to be honest there should have been a few more temporary greens. Four of us played the course and all felt deceived by the rating. The price was great, but not so great to travel 22 miles expecting a 4 start track. We would not play it again.
Great day
Tee boxes are decent and getting better. Fairways are really good. Couple of greens are rough, but are improving also. My favorite course in the area. Definitely a great value for winter golf in Central Florida.
Great value
Course in fairly good conditions except for the greens which they had a lot of trouble with and are working at getting them back in playing form. When that problem is overcome, it will be an excellent good value course to play for $20-$30 or so.
Greens are all dead, little or no grass
I won't return until next year or later after finding out did they repair get their greens.
Needs some loving care
Our foursome played Oakwood last summer and it was in pretty bad shape. Two of us tried it again yesterday. It has been somewhat improved but needs much more work to be in really good condition. The approaches to the greens are really nice. The greens are not so nice. With this being the high season, I would have thought that management would have made an effort to get the greens in good shape but that is not the case. The layout of the course is really good and the scenery is wonderful. The staff is very friendly.
Poor greens hurt this otherwise nice course.
The course except for the greens was nice. A very good layout with different shots required depending on the set up of various holes with dog legs right and left. Fairways were green and lush. Staff was friendly. I'll go back hoping the greens get better. Still a good value for the $$$.
Nice Relaxing course
Hardly any houses on the course really enjoyed the layout and the scenery. Especially for the price. I will be going back.
