Lake Wales Country Club

Greens were decent, fairways were mostly dry grass, weeds and dirt. No cart girl. Staff in the clubhouse were very friendly. Lady in the bar needs to be replaced. She didn’t even acknowledge the 3 of us. We were gonna eat there after our round but after seeing how she talked to other patrons poorly and lack of attention towards us, we decided to eat in town. I’d recommended reaching for another $20 in your pocket and playing somewhere else. Definitely not worth anything over $25.

Nice layout. Staff are great. Greens are nice, fast and consistent. Tee boxes and fairways are rough and in some spots that’s being kind.General rule of thumb here is if the cost is under 80 bucks these are the conditions you will find.

I’m in a quandary here. What do I say about this place? Not often am I so torn about a golf course. This place has a beautiful design and layout. Beautiful. But it’s a crying shame the course and grounds are in such horrible shape. Lack of grass everywhere? Yup. Cement ground everywhere? Yup. Weeds and bald areas on most greens? Yup. Lack of grass on tees? Yup. This beauty needs new ownership that will have the deep pockets needed to shut down the course down for at least a year to do the necessary repairs that would make this place the gem that it truly is. Good luck LWCC! We will be back again in hopes to see that someone cares enough about you to allow others to enjoy this gem that it has the potential to be.

Go back and search for a new course. I did the work for you and played this absolutely awful and super slow course. Staff was nice and course layout is good. I have seen dog parks in better shape. I never leave reviews, but I have to do y’all a favor and tell you this is not the course to enjoy your day.

The course has taken a beating with no rain for about a month. We were behind a five some group of men. They started off the game by taking two drives each. We asked them if they were in a tournament but said we’re just playing a round. They said they were really fast players and we would never catch up after the first hole. This was not true. Waited on most shots.

We last visited 2 years ago. The irrigation wasn't working and tee boxes, fairways and greens not good so didn't go back till now.

New owner has improved things. Fairways and tee boxes now moderate. The rough and fairways hadn't see a mower in a few days.Fairways still need time, overseeding and fertilizer to get to a good state but better than before.

Greens were ok but were fuzzy but probably because they were letting them grow a bit more to get healthy.

Will maybe try in a month and see if the improvement keeps up.

We play here every year on our annual golf trip. Very nice course, fairways and greens are good, interesting layout and the price is right. Hard to beat the whole package. Plus, the bar is something to behold. A woodworkers piece de resistance.

Played here on 2/28/23: Course is in need of serious care. From the clubhouse being under supplied to spotty at best fairways to horrible greens., this place is on the verge of going under. Don’t get me wrong the place has the potential to be a great course but the current condition its in would make Donald Ross turn over in his grave.I would think that the members would be ashamed to let a country club be in this shape. Save your money, there are better courses in a 30 mile radius and cheaper.

The course is historic. The layout is nice but the course needs work to make it a better place to be. Ok for when you are looking to play and nothing else available. Sand traps are very hard sand and frustrating. The biggest issue we had was with pace of play, we caught up to a group of three that were extremely slow, causing us, and the pair behind us, to spend inordinate amount of time sitting in our cart. This does not translate into a positive experience; they need to have a ranger/staff member monitoring play and moving people along.
