About
Lake Wales Country Club boasts a classic Donald Ross design that players of all skill level will enjoy. Built in the 1920s, the golf course has a different look and feel than most modern courses. Rather than exaggerated hazards and dramatic contouring, the layout blends seamlessly into the natural landscape. The routing of each hole was determined by the existing contours. Like many of Ross' designs, the phrase "hard par, easy bogey" holds true here. The layout features small greens with crown centers that are sloped back to front. Rough borders the fairways and the wide-openness of the course means that wind will often be a factor. Lake Wales C.C. is a challenging but straightforward golf course. There are no trick holes but there are several holes that will make you think.

Golfer Reviews
Not worth playing.
Arrived and waited in the golf shop (which had almost nothing in it!) and after 15 or so minutes someone finally came in. I paid and was told no range balls and no starter.
Putting green in very poor condition, bare spots and dandelions all over it. The course green were much the same. Bare spots and tufts of either crab grass or dandelions, it was difficult to tell.
Bunkers were terrible. Fairways were ok in spots.
Pace of play was very bad. Three of the groups in front were 5 somes! and they all played 2 balls each off the first tee.
Overall I will not go back which is a shame as this was once a wonderful place to play. Sad that a Donald Ross course has fallen into these conditions.
Great layout
Fairly long course, hardly any water. Greenside traps are biggest hazard. Nicely undulating hole’s considering that this is Florida. Enjoyed playing here.
A couple of the Greens could be a bit better... But most were very puttible.
Enjoyed the course. Some nice long holes and rolling hills. Unfortunately, the greens were pretty rough.
Played first thing in the morning, so no waiting or anyone on our heels. Can’t speak to the pace later as have not been there before. There were a lot of people at the putting green and waiting when we were finished.
Fog delay
An early fog delay backed up the course. The Tuesday regulars played slower than normal due to delay. We played behind the last group who must be their slowest players. They never had to wait on the their shots because by the ninth hole a whole hole was open ahead of them. Usually a round here is three and half hours. Today was four and half hours. My personal game was terrible and I can abide poor play Slowness : no.
Cheap, but not worth it.
Course was in poor shape. Greens non-existing. Fairways not good either.
They let out fivesomes - that says it all.
Exceptional Service
Quick play and good system Tee at good time and pace of game
Puttingh on sand is no fun........ball bounces and doesn't roll true. Course in good shape but someone needs to take care of greens (seeding versus sanding). It's the most important part of the game!
Course in average condition. Fairways in poor condition, greens in good condition.. liked layout of course gave you multiple choices of tee boxes.
