Links of Sandpiper
About
Links of Sandpiper in Lakeland offers a traditional links layout that sprawls across rolling terrain. The course is player friendly enough for players of all skill levels to enjoy but it has enough challenges for more advanced players as well. The course is anything but flat, and the ups and downs are the most challenging element you'll encounter. The small, undulating greens and narrow landing areas off of the fairways demand accuracy. Combined with elevation changes and strategically placed bunkers, proper club selection and course management also play important roles. Picking the right lines from the tees into the greens requires careful thought. You'll face a few blind shots thanks to the rolling terrain and there are also several bunkers strategically placed along the greensides. Links of Sandpiper's final four holes are the toughest stretch.

Worth Playing
Shot placement is important on several holes. Having a good GPS App with overhead visuals and dynamic distance measurements is very helpful for planning shots. Some greens were a bit rough in areas but not bad. Fairways were generally good. I have only played there a few times being new to the area but will definitely return. I do recommend this course.
Nice course
We plan here several times a year. It was a little bit more busy because of the 4 of July but overall a good day.
Sandpooper.
The greens were scattered with disease or mole cricket circles everywhere. Only 3 decent greens. The course was mowed, but not in great condition. The traps were horrible. No sand. I’ve played this course over 25 years and this is not worth the money. Need to lower the rates too $25
Rough condition
Always enjoy playing at the Sandpiper when coming on my annual trip to the area. The course was in rough condition with the fairways littered with crabgrass. The greens had obviously been sprayed for the crabgrass but left behind dozens of bare spots where the treatment was applied. The staff was friendly and for the price it was acceptable. Will play again next year
Rained out
I was rained out and tried to get a rain check ,,,,,,,
The golf shop said I would have to call golf now for a rain check !!!!!
Please help
Rain check for nine holes !!!!!
Love this course but is needing some love
Play here very often but seems like it’s sliding a bit. Course staff is always awesome but the course is a bit rough. Lots of weeds starting on the greens. Mowing seems a bit neglected. Tee box’s on most holes are just sand and dirt.
Definitely Worth Playing
Greens were in better shape than the fairways. Fairways had some rough areas but still playable. Some rain is needed in the area which would help a lot. I liked the layout. I recommend using a GPS app with interactive aireal views. It helps to plan shots when you are.not familiar with the.course. This was my second round there and I got a good rate on GolfNow.
Overall poor conditions
Pretty cool layout but really bad conditions. Lots of weeds in the fairway. Not much difference between fairway to rough. Greens were slow, inconsistent, and had a decent amount of dead patches.
Don’t let it slip
We play here a lot. Conditions have been good this past year but currently it’s rough. A ton of the greens are really beat up and they were in great shape not that long ago. The par 5 16th which had been getting better is getting rough again. They should fix the course and charge a little more to play. We like playing here but when it’s like this we don’t. The staff isn’t the best either. The 2 guys that work the proshop are always friendly but anyone that’s in the bar areas is always either rude or act like they don’t want to serve you. Been that way a while . We stopped buying things in there because of it unless we just have too. Sandpiper if u read this please don’t let the conditions get worse. We prefer you over hunnington hills and Cleveland heights when ur in good shape. U are the furthest but we will choose you everytime if it’s playable. It’s looking sketchy right now. Some holes are fine but we saw a lot of rough areas lately.
Where is the Fairway?
Very unusual course had moguls in the fairway hard to tell, which was Fairway, which was rough approaches to the green were unfair. There was no clean, bounce up to Green at all, went sideways, not my type, of course.
Angry old man groundskeeper
So I left my club at my previous hole and went back to get it on the cart. I knew at that moment I was wrong for driving a cart near the green. I was never on the green. But yet the angry old man came out with his grandson and started screaming at me which was very unprofessional. I apologize for this and the old guy he continued to scream at me and was very confrontational. His grandson apologized for his behavior. Even after he was driving away he still wanted to argue but I turned my back to him.
