Links of Sandpiper
About
Links of Sandpiper in Lakeland offers a traditional links layout that sprawls across rolling terrain. The course is player friendly enough for players of all skill levels to enjoy but it has enough challenges for more advanced players as well. The course is anything but flat, and the ups and downs are the most challenging element you'll encounter. The small, undulating greens and narrow landing areas off of the fairways demand accuracy. Combined with elevation changes and strategically placed bunkers, proper club selection and course management also play important roles. Picking the right lines from the tees into the greens requires careful thought. You'll face a few blind shots thanks to the rolling terrain and there are also several bunkers strategically placed along the greensides. Links of Sandpiper's final four holes are the toughest stretch.

Concrete greens
The once-great greens seemed to be extremely fast... like putting on concrete. I believe they were cut too short and none of us could control any backspin.
Hopefully, they'll be better soon.

Front side makes sense...
Apparently the course was altered to make room for some houses, so the flow on the back 9 doesn't flow.
The greens were in great shape, but this is just one of those courses that doesn't excite me.
I think everybody should play it at least once, but I could not see playing this course regularly. But that's just me.
Enjoyable
Very enjoyable but it was way to cold. I did shot well for me.

Decent community course
First time playing this course and for the price, thought it was fine. Read some previous reviews and agree that undulating greens, closely cut fringes where balls rolled off the green was frustrating, but that's sort of a signature of the course so it is what it is and we just laughed it off and moved on to the next hole..

Fun course
This links course has some very interesting holes and a lot of false fronts on the greens. The greens were fast and in great shape. I’m an old guy but played from the tips with three very nice younger guys and did pretty good but enjoyed the round immensely. I would definitely play there again.
Thanks so much for your review. We're so glad you enjoyed your round at Links of Sandpiper. That's what we like to hear! We hope to see you again soon!
Good Greens
The greens were in great condition. Holes 6 through 9 are back par 3's followed by back to back par 4's, all of which have a lot of elevation changes. They are among the best holes on the course. The back 9 has some funky holes, but overall a good value
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the team. Thanks for visiting Links of Sandpiper, and we hope to see you again in the future.
Hard as a Rock
The course was very firm and fast. The greens were hard and fast, as were the fairways. I have a number of complaints about this course. First of all, they overcharged me on my Golf Now tee time by not giving credit for the 5% already paid to Golf Now. The person behind the counter seemed unaware of how Golf Now works. Secondly, I didn’t like how they shaved down all of the aprons. A number of balls that hit on the aprons rolled off and ended up 20 yards from the green. Lastly, we had 3 different GPS’s in our group, and none of worked with their crazy layout. I’m not anxious to go back.

i hate fast, rolled greens.
What a gorgious course. Love it/hate it every time I play it. Layout is excellect and challageing, which I don't mind and is fair. What I don't like is the double mowed, doubled rolled greens. They are like putting on linolium. I three putted every green because I could not stop the ball. If it didn't go in the hol on the first putt it rolled off the green and I was starting over. I don't like shooting 109 with 50+ putts! Very frustrating. I'm just not that good. Ahhhhh!
Thank you for taking the time to review us. Your feedback is valuable, and we appreciate your business. Links of Sandpiper thanks you!
Slow play
Waited almost 10 minutes on every hole because of a husband-wife foursome that shouldn't have been on a golf course until later in the day. Long boring round.
Thank you for leaving us a review. We are sorry to hear your experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you will give us another try in the future. Thank you for choosing Links of Sandpiper.
Disappointed
I had read that there had been recent upgrades to the course. It didn't look or play that way. The rough was weeds and bare spots and the tees were more sand than grass on many of them. Fairways were bumpy and patchy with weeds. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I won't be going back any time soon.
