Links of Sandpiper
About
Links of Sandpiper in Lakeland offers a traditional links layout that sprawls across rolling terrain. The course is player friendly enough for players of all skill levels to enjoy but it has enough challenges for more advanced players as well. The course is anything but flat, and the ups and downs are the most challenging element you'll encounter. The small, undulating greens and narrow landing areas off of the fairways demand accuracy. Combined with elevation changes and strategically placed bunkers, proper club selection and course management also play important roles. Picking the right lines from the tees into the greens requires careful thought. You'll face a few blind shots thanks to the rolling terrain and there are also several bunkers strategically placed along the greensides. Links of Sandpiper's final four holes are the toughest stretch.

Tricky course
It is a tricky course to play because all the greens are elevated and they are deceptively fast with a lot of undulation. It's very important to keep the ball short of the flags on most holes because if you go past the whole you just might roll off the green. There is water on several holes that are hidden from view from fairways and tees.
Thank you for the awesome rating! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another great experience, and thanks for choosing Links of Sandpiper.
Nice Course But...
Playing conditions were good but it seems that Rangers are needed to keep play moving. Players ahead are not following proper golf etiquette. Taking too much time to hit a ball, conversing instead of playing 4 or more hours for 18 here is not pleasant.
We apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback as we will use your review to better the experience going forward. We hope you give us another try in the near future!
Gps
The GPS did not work on the last 9 holes because of the rerouting of course for homes.
We appreciate you taking the time to review the course and rate us. We are going to pass on your feedback to the team. Thanks for visiting Links of Sandpiper, and we hope to see you again in the future.
Great course
I appreciate all the hard work and effort in bringing this course back to life. It’s is a very nice course with varying degrees of challenge.
The staff work hard to keep the place in great condition and the remodel of the bar/restaurant is awesome. The food and drinks just add to the experience.
Thanks and we’ll be back.

Pace of play
Granted I went there on center and day but the pace of play was slow. Almost 2 hours to play 9 holes. Then the layout is so cramped seniors there think they own the place. Cart path in very rough shape. Not worth driving from Brandon. I would have been happier at Lake Bernadette.
WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!!!!!!
Hello. Thank you for reviewing the course. We apologize for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. With that in mind, we are working to best control pace and allow everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time. We will continue to look for ways to improve. Thank you for playing and we hope to see you again soon.

Just ok.
Greens true, fast and firm. Fairways a bit tight but very playable. Some quirky holes on the course, but once you play it a few times it's okay.

Rough fairways
Played in great weather. I want to make sure to mention the wonderfully friendly staff. Great service. My concerns are with the conditions of the fairways. Pretty rough conditions in some areas, which made for interesting ball positions. The greens, on the other hand, were very good. Lots of unraked sand traps. I wouldn't recommend this course for better players.
Hi, Jim. Thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. Your feedback about the course is important to us. Thank you for playing Links of Sandpiper. We hope to see you again soon.
Great condition; hard work has paid off
For anyone who's been playing Sandpiper for years like us, you've seen a lot. Course conditions in the past have been fair to bad. But Sandpiper did a multiyear renovation, and it's finally paying off. The greens were spectacular today; I've never seen them better. The fairways were very good as well; soft underfoot and free of weeds. The gentleman at the pro shop was friendly and professional. Nicely done, Sandpiper!
Thank you for your kind words! The team has worked very hard to get where we are, and we appreciate golfers like you taking notice. We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing Links of Sandpiper
Disappointing course alterations
We had a fun day and a pleasant experience at Links of Sandpiper, but we cannot recommend the course. The greens were good, and the first ten holes were perfectly fine, but the back nine is a mess. It’s okay and even fun to have a couple quirky holes on a course, but par fours where you have to hit 7-iron off the tee, and par fives where you can’t hit driver off the tee and your second shot isn’t a 9-iron are just silly. They,re trying to squeeze in moreover new homes, and they have chopped the back nine to pieces as a result. Plus there are a half dozen little ponds stuck in odd places to make landing spaces very small, narrow, and awkward. More than half the holes on the back, especially from #14 on, are just stupid. Not a good course at all, and a very sad way to finish the layout.
Thank you for leaving us a review. We are sorry to hear your experience was anything short of 5 stars, but we hope you will give us another try in the future. Thank you for choosing Links of Sandpiper.
High five to the ground keepers also the players need to fix there ball marks and use the sand on the cart it’s there for a reason not nuclear science.
Thank you for your kind words! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing Links of Sandpiper.
Not sure…
I’m not entirely sure how to feel about this course. The course sits in what appears to be an older golf community, but there is also a significant amount of new home construction ongoing that does impact play a bit.
The staff is friendly and helpful. Carts are newer, and were clean. Driving range is a net set up next to the first tee. There was a small putting green also at 1.
The whole course is a bit narrow, and the greens were generally very small. The greens and tee boxes were all in VERY good conditions. You need to be careful on the fairways as those teeing on the next hole could be coming at you if they are are not straight. Happened on many holes with balls landing near me from the next tee box.
Here is the strange part for me. The first 9 were bone dry…no water. The back 9 had water on almost all holes. They make it look nice with fountains and water creek features, but it plays into most holes.
Not a bad experience, but I left asking myself if I would come back..even at the great rate they charge.
Your mileage may vary

Good Course
So many improvements to the course over the last 3 yrs everything looks great definitely a course I will play more often greens rolling true even the clubhouse looks good the food and atmosphere inside is great and a nice place to hangout after your round only negative is the last 2 holes r to close together could be an issue with safety when teeing off on hole 17 also a weird moment happened on hole 14 a guy on hole 16 came over the my tee box wanting to know why I didn’t have a sticker on my cart said singles r given that he wasn’t a ranger or a starter and I was playing with another guy that they paired me with but we were in separate carts if that’s the rule then I knew nothing about it no one in clubhouse mention it so not sure why he was policing the course and besides he was in a group of 5 and that’s not suppose to happen either he might have been a member and felt like saying something not sure
