Links of Sandpiper
About
Links of Sandpiper in Lakeland offers a traditional links layout that sprawls across rolling terrain. The course is player friendly enough for players of all skill levels to enjoy but it has enough challenges for more advanced players as well. The course is anything but flat, and the ups and downs are the most challenging element you'll encounter. The small, undulating greens and narrow landing areas off of the fairways demand accuracy. Combined with elevation changes and strategically placed bunkers, proper club selection and course management also play important roles. Picking the right lines from the tees into the greens requires careful thought. You'll face a few blind shots thanks to the rolling terrain and there are also several bunkers strategically placed along the greensides. Links of Sandpiper's final four holes are the toughest stretch.

Fun play
A fun play for sure. Definitely can see them putting some major work in here. Tee boxes were great for most part. Other then greens rest of course was in pretty solid shape considering recent weather. Greens were definitely the sour point here. Not the worst I’ve seen. But rock hard, lots of bare spots, holes not cut out well. Other then that it was a fun play. Some cool and interesting hole designs. It is a fairly short course, but long enough to still pose a challenge. However my one beef was the last few holes were extremely confusing. A little late to change now, but seems like when they redesigned the back 9 they didn’t think it through very well. Some fun holes. But every confusing where you are going with the ball. Keep your heads up on back 9 you can easily get clobbered by a random ball from another hole. I know it’s links style but these holes were closer then close together, and they are bobbing and weaving around each other. At one point when teeing off at hole 18 it looks like hole 17 tee box is aiming right at you. Again. Stay alert. But other then that was a fun play and would do it again.
Always a great time!
The course is a little beat up but it’s understandable because now it is getting played so much!
My suggestion- need a bathroom on the back 9. The Port a Potty is disgusting. Move it to another area so it is used by golfers only & not everyone walking down the street.
Thank you for taking the time to review us, Kswartz37. Your feedback is valuable, and we look forward to delivering you excellent service again soon. Links of Sandpiper thanks you!

A good recreational time
The greens at Sandpiper were rolling atleast a 9 (a good indication work done).
Even though it is winter, the fairways and most other areas had decent levels of grass, which made golf enjoyable.
The course has gone through some renovations, so may not match GPS on every hole. A laser would definitely be a better asset.
So be sure to check with the proshop for the modified course layout and yardages.
The staff is super friendly and helpful.
Overall, a nice course and challenging.

The Piper
Greens are firm and fast, but let’s start with that cheeseburger before the round... incredible. Enjoyed it inside (code out today.... high 40’s) in what looks like an upscale sports bar. The whole clubhouse is top notch.... inside fireplace like you’d see back up home. Caught some NCAA hoops on the big screens and even saw a few dunks before hitting the range (mats and a giant net... which I don’t mind at all... and the price is right). Now for the golf. Front 9 is great because you can just rip driver. Back 9 is about hitting shots... which has its appeal as well.
Some of the holes are close together, so expect to hear some old timer mutter “1 in, 2 out, hitting 3” when he trap hooks one into somebody’s Florida room.
Go play it if you’re in the area, and take the time to drive by historic Virgil Ramage Stadium while you’re in the neighborhood.

Worth the drive
We stayed in Kissimmee and this course was about 50 minutes away but boy was it worth it. We played many courses in the area for $30-$50. This by far was in the best condition and had the most fun layout. The renovations they did in the past year make the back 9 really fun. Clubhouse and bar were also brand new and very nice. Great greens and great fairways for playing in the winter. If you are using SwingU or another golf GPS app, the final 3-4 holes still aren’t updated from the recent renovations but you can still figure out where the hazards are easily.
