About
Links of Sandpiper in Lakeland offers a traditional links layout that sprawls across rolling terrain. The course is player friendly enough for players of all skill levels to enjoy but it has enough challenges for more advanced players as well. The course is anything but flat, and the ups and downs are the most challenging element you'll encounter. The small, undulating greens and narrow landing areas off of the fairways demand accuracy. Combined with elevation changes and strategically placed bunkers, proper club selection and course management also play important roles. Picking the right lines from the tees into the greens requires careful thought. You'll face a few blind shots thanks to the rolling terrain and there are also several bunkers strategically placed along the greensides. Links of Sandpiper's final four holes are the toughest stretch.

Excellent
unbelievable condition for the price. The tea boxes fairways and greens are in phenomenal shape in the course is playing extremely well. The back nine is far more challenging than the front but it's a lot of fun. I would have given this a five star rating if there were a beverage cart making rounds also stop to use the restroom on the front nine because the back nine your only option is a porter John. Overall I'm extremely satisfied and again cannot believe how good the conditions of the course are.

Covid Golf
Booked an 8:30 tee time. Was there early and starter had 12 carts ahead of us. We elected to start on the back 9 and had no issues. On the turn the starter lumped in a third in one of those awkward it’s rude to say no situations. Otherwise course was in great shape.

Back 9 redo complete
The course is in excellent condition. They know how to grow grass. The course rates about a 6 out of possible 10. All greens are 10. Fairways =10 difficulty =8 carts =9 overall =8

Nice course but slow
A very nice well landscapes course. Not overly long but in better than average shape. Pace of play was slow, but still finished in fours hours.

Are you Kidding Me?
The greens are green, slow but green. The back nine might be the most poorly designed nine holes of golf I have ever seen....play the front twice if you can, then don't come back!!

Kitschy, strange and a bit of a mixed bag
For a while, I found myself thinking the Links of Sandpiper could be a bit of a hidden gem. The front nine is quirky but fun, reaching a figurative high point with the half-pipe 6th green, then a literal one on the par-5 8th tee, giving golfers a cool view of the surrounding Lakeland suburb where the course is located.
But the wheels fall off a bit on the back nine. The stretch of holes 14 through 18 is unpleasantly awkward, shoehorned in to accommodate the further squeezing of the small property for a handful more housing lots. This was probably a wise short-term financial move for ownership, but it taxed the course to the point where I would recommend visiting golfers enjoy the front nine and leave it at that before seeking other courses in Lakeland.

Course is in great shape. Fairways are nice and greens are back.
The revamped back nine is different. Not sure I like 17 and 18 yet. Hard to decide what to hit off the tee for both to lay up as needed.

if I understood correctly they are in the process of changing the layout of 17 a bit and moving 18 up to make it a par 3, should make the last 2 holes much less confusing, and safer
hopefully then the net can come down and golfers are not crossing so much
Dreadful pace of play
Played this course a lot recently - once gain dreadful pace of play and no sign of a ranger on the course. Had to abandon at hole 16 after 5 hours. Totally ridiculous. One to avoid in future.

Best course in central Florida for the money.
This course is GREEN, the grass is by far the best of any $30 course you’ll find in Florida. Problems with gps on hole 13 on, a range finder would have been great

The houses are extremely close to the fairways. A lot of tight doglegs. The fairways and greens are in good condition. Lots of interesting man made water fountains.

Don't Bother
We stood in line for 10 minutes in the pro shop with no one there to take our money. Eventually someone who said he was the bar tender cam to greet us but immediately ignored the group to talk to someone on the phone about an afternoon tee time. No one organizing the first tee box so people just came and went and I have no idea who had what tee time. The last 4 holes look redesigned and the 17 & 18 are a hot mess. Tried to squeeze holes where they don't fit. No need for me to ever think about playing here again.

Golfers on this are rude calling proshop and complaining about pace of play
Golfers on course are rude calling pro shop twice by to different groups. Mind you course is packed with people. Then proshop guys comes out and tells us to let us play thru. Never come here agian

Slow Pace of Play
Very slow pace of play. We played as a twosome. We were behind another twosome. There were 2 foursomes of ladies in front and they were playing extremely slow and would not let the twosome in front of us play through. We gave up after 9 holes and left. The course is in really good condition but management needs to get a ranger out there to help speed up the pace of play.
