Links of Sandpiper
About
Links of Sandpiper in Lakeland offers a traditional links layout that sprawls across rolling terrain. The course is player friendly enough for players of all skill levels to enjoy but it has enough challenges for more advanced players as well. The course is anything but flat, and the ups and downs are the most challenging element you'll encounter. The small, undulating greens and narrow landing areas off of the fairways demand accuracy. Combined with elevation changes and strategically placed bunkers, proper club selection and course management also play important roles. Picking the right lines from the tees into the greens requires careful thought. You'll face a few blind shots thanks to the rolling terrain and there are also several bunkers strategically placed along the greensides. Links of Sandpiper's final four holes are the toughest stretch.

Maybe the worse conditions in the USA…
Almost unplayable…luckily the weather forced our hand and we dipped..
Just no grass on the greens or the fairways and these little fake ponds and streams that really add zero value to the course - just spend the money on the grass!!
Seeing players tee off in crocs should have been the warning we needed to turn around..
Positives - people were nice and I have a story to tell golf friends for a lifetime…actually, go play it so you have the same :)
Secrets at Sandpiper
A great track with some hidden gems and traps. Never let your guard down.
Drought conditions
Fairway and rough lack very much grass which can be attributed to very little if any rain. Greens are in decent shape and fast.
Sunday Sandpiper
A great shorter course with a mean set of closing holes that makes you think. Tough, fun and well worth it.
It's not the fault of the course...
I have a bad habit of playing to the level of my fellow players. That works okay when playing with folks who are having a good day. Not so much when you play with a couple of folks who are having a bad day and decide the solution is to add beer.
If things are already a bit out of control with your swing, it just doesn't make sense to me. They were nice enough, and made their mistakes while keeping up with our position, but...in the four previous times I've played here I've never played in a group that hit into the houses along the course. There were at least 4 balls during the round (no evidence of any damage, but no real search for those either).
As my wife tells me...I've got to learn to play my game and pay no attention to what the others in my group are doing (beyond keeping an eye on where the ball has gone). Maybe one day I will reach that sublime state.
Sandpiper Links
Oldie but still a goodie. Rolling bumps on mini mounds…. Don’t hit the ball into the road!!!! I did NOT break 100.
Neglected
Wow. Haven’t played here in a while due to the exorbitant prices this busy season. Looks like they spent all their money on 25 new homes they built around the course. Fairways/tees very sparse. Many areas had more weeds than grass. Many greens completely burnt out with no grass. Needs lots of work!
Golf good, Bar bad
The course is a great combo of nice simple hole to wow that got me a double bogey.
On the bad side. The bar manager / club owner, is a sloppy drunk. Not a good image for what could be a fantastic place.
Pro shop stated tee times are on schedule. Starter was letting a group of 7 people, 4 players, 3 others with a 5-year-old running around the course with their mother and grandmother. Each of the 4 players were playing 2-3 practice tee shots. Players were calling them breakfast balls when there is no such thing in golf. This slowed our tee time back by 13 minutes. Players need to use the practice net or go to a range prior. Same group was hitting 7-8 shots on the first 3 holes. Which slowed pace. They created a bottle neck at hole two and three until a ranger had to get them to move quicker. This defaults to the owner, the pro shop associate, the starter and the ranger for not managing correctly. I would having given this course a 2-star overall rating, but the course is in ok shape. Owner needs to get the job done better.
Patchy grass everywhere
Played here the other day. Staff was wonderful and the layout was fine. Greens were good but it was like concrete. Nothing would stick. Quirky back 9 especially last few holes. Hard to find good grass to hit off of. About the 6th hole on, if we were in a less than desirable spot, we moved our ball back to place it into good stuff. All in all the place is average but the staff was great.
Course manager needs to pay more attention to the placement of the tee box markers. A few holes whites and blues markers were backwards. Also, distances do not match with the score card. Fairways and greens still need work.
Sandpiper Friday
A very good mix between easier and more difficult holes. Some of the short ones will get you. A fun track to play with a nice bar/ restaurant in the clubhouse for a snack and refreshments after play.
Sandpiper
Don’t be fooled by a slightly shorter course. They have some surprises in store .
Sandpiper Fridays
A fun course with some interesting hidden surprises.
Sandpiper Lakeland
A fun track with a few hidden “ wow’s” Not a gimme due to the backs being just over 6k yds.
Needs help
Conditions should be better for this time of year
Ranger would be nice to speed things
