Golfer Reviews
Tab
Was only allowed to play back nine twice. Lot of union places.
Course and greens in rough shape
Had threesome in front very slow play and marshal did nothing to fix issue
Under repair
I have enjoyed playing Summer Glen multiple times over the past few months. Right now, there are three temporary greens and multiple more under repair. If you and friends are going to be in serious competition, probably wait before coming here. If you are just out with friends to enjoy a morning or afternoon, still a good place to come.
Thank you for the kind words! This Summer has certainly been challenging. We were unfortunately attacked by a disease called Foliar Pythium Blight at the end of May. While our greens will recover, it is a slow process. The back 9 is coming along nicely (almost 100%), and we hope to have the front 9 back to normal in another couple weeks. Looking forward to having you again!
Rough shape, for now…
This is a tough one. I’ve played this course for years! The good, the bar and restaurant is great. As for the course. It really is a good layout. Mix of easy and tough due to hazards. The fairways are in great shape! The problem now is the greens are a mess! The front nine greens are riddled with disease or whatever. There are 3 temp greens that are basically grass. The back nine greens are all fine for the most part. The course overall is super cheap, so it’s hard to pass up the price versus the conditions. Hopefully at some point this course comes back.
Thank you for the kind words and the understanding! This Summer has certainly been challenging for us. Out of the blue, we were attacked by a very rapid spreading foliar disease known as Pythium at the end of May.
The greens are recovering, but it's a slow process. The back 9 is coming along nicely, almost 100%. We hope to have the front 9 back to normal in another couple of weeks. Looking forward to having you back soon!
Summer Glen Golf Review
We (4 of us), were told that Summer Glen had temporary greens on holes 5,7, 9. No explanation! We get to hole 1, which was spotty grass, holes 2, 3, and 4 were the same. The back nine was better. Apparently a fungus attacked the greens and Summer Glen is trying to get the greens back. It will not happen this year!
Disappointed in Summer Glen
Plated there several times and this time the front nine greens were terrible! Had several temp greens and the original greens were basically gone. Back nine was much better all the way around.
Wow, needs work
An enjoyable course I've played that had smooth fairways and greens now had several temporary greens on the front 9, 50-90% sandy greens especially on the front 9, uneven grass fairways and too many weeds in the fairways. Several tee boxes needed cutting. "Aeration" taking place on greens but, a lot of consistent waterimg (if not storms) needed. I'll check back with a round in 4-6 weeks.
Troubled conditions
First time playing here. Recent drought and heat has caused many greens to have trouble with grass conditions and weeds. Fairways are very tight with lots of weeds in most cases. With my Golf pass discount, I only paid $21 which made it more bearable. Range balls are included with the greens fee. But I will likely not play this course again until later in the fall.
Greens need some love
Overall course is in decent shape, but the quality of the greens isn't what it used to be. They need to put some time into getting the bare spots filled in.
Not in very good shape
Amazing how all of the homes that line the course have green, lush lawns. As soon as you cross over to the course, it appears that watering doesn't work!? The front 9 was worse than the back, but it didn't have to be very good to be better than the front. And it wasn't. The only thing growing was weeds. Some of the tee boxes were completely barren of grass, just plenty of weeds. Some of the Greens were the same way. Greens were so hard, they wouldn't hold any approach shots. 6 months ago this place was top notch, now it competes with Spruce Creek, for those that know.
A+
First time playing here, will definitely be back. Exceptional courtesy from the staff made our threesome feel like we were members! Tee boxes, greens were in good shape and fairways were great according to my playing partners...Sadly, I didn't get to experience many of them. Made it to the 10th green before the thunder and lightning got scary, and we had to get inside. Sat in the nice lounge to dry off and have a frosty beverage. Hope to get back here soon.
Thank you for the kind words! This summer has been a challenge so far for sure, but the course is getting a little bit better every day. Hope to see you again soon!
WHAT HAPPENED
Can't believe the decline in this course. Just a couple months ago it was great, now it's bad. Greens r terrible with crab grass all over.. Fairways only fair. Hope they have a turn around. I luv the course but not on this condition. How do u let the course go this bad.
It'll be back soon. The Fairways, greens, and tee boxes were overseeded for the winter months. During the transitional period when the rye grass dies off and the native bermuda grass "wakes up" there is always a period where things get a little rough around the edges. It didn't help matters that we entered county water restrictions right after the greens were aerified.
A little time and a little rain and course conditions will be back :)
Thank you for the kind rating! We've had our challenges this Summer, but the back 9 greens are coming along nicely, and we hope to have the front 9 open and back to normal in another couple weeks. Stay tuned!
