WOw - surprisingly great!
I had never heard anyone say anything great about the course up until recently. I tried the course and it was fantastic. The fairways were well maintained and the greens were fast! Crazy fast! They put some effort and time into this course and it is worthwhile!! Good time! Great round!
Perfect greens
Could play here every day
Value
This is a great course to play and in excellent condition. The greens are fast and true.. Super value
Lovely course, wind can be a challenge.
A friend of mine and I played the course yesterday with many favorable reactions. He had played the course previously, and he recognized numerous improvements since his last visit: fairways have been shaped; rough has received a manicure; and greens have been replaced. As a first time visitor, I was impressed by speed of play, quality of greens, fairways, tee boxes, and bunkers. The rough was shaved a bit and quite tame. The course length was a fair test with five par 5s and most exceeded 500 yards from the white tees. In addition, the par 3s were challenging from a distance perspective coupled with the speed and firmness of the greens. We played the day after a strong rainfall, and we imagined how tough the greens would be without the softened conditions from the previous night. Bathrooms are being built in multiple locations; ball cleaners are an issue. Numerous ball cleaners were missing. More distance markers would be a great addition to the course without much cost. If we did not have distance aids, we would have been unfairly challenged on a few holes. The staff exhibited courtesy, professional attitudes, and genuine enthusiasm. A very pleasant round that took approximately 3 hours and 20 minutes.
Bathrooms
No mens or ladies rooms. But i see they are building new ones.I think they would have done this during the slow season.
Great course
Had a great time. Wide open course. Staff was very friendly. Did not see any restrooms on the
course but I did see where it look like they were in the process of building some on the front & back.
Greens putted true & were a little fast. Loved the
course & would recommend it. Course was wet on the back nine.
Great greens
Course still well maintained. Staff very friendly & helpful. 1 of 5 courses I play on a rotation and I'm pretty picky. Good value & a must play.
Good course
Nice greens
GREAT Improvements
I first played this course about 6 yrs ago. It was in such poor condition that after a couple of yrs I stopped playing it. Not the case any longer. New ownership has redone the greens to a level as good as you'll find in the area and has now completely refurbished fairways and roughs. This course is very enjoyable and playable. If you too have abandoned play St James give it another try it's in outstanding condition. The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 Stars is the courses lack of aesthetic character.
the future of golf starts here!
There building bathrooms around course, that's good.the big deal here is the greens. Starter said, their patented, water once a week, no bugs ,so no birds pecking. It's like commercial carpet, the grass is on top they hold well, putt true, almost to good.
Greens are hard
Greens hard to stop ball great shape course is open but fun
Greens are fast
Great course well maintained greens are pro caliber don't hit it above the hole a definite three putt if u do!!
Great greens!
The course is wide open with not much trouble. Fairways were cut a little close, but the greens are spectacular. Lush and fast with lots of undulations. Great value.
New greens superb
The greens were fairly new, fast and tricky. If you didn't put your ball near the flag, a three putt was always on the cards.
The fairways were good condition but very wet in places.
Course quiet so we made it round i as a two ball in three hours.
Liked the layout of the course & would play again.
Staff very friendly.
Very Nice
It is now one of 3 course i will ONLY Play.....
Get a ranger out here
Mostly wide open - perfect place to grip it and rip it. As advertised, excellent greens. Bunkers were wet and firm, seemed to be different sand from the last time I played; excellent playability. Pace of play was excellent for 7 holes, then it stopped. I eventually found out it was one group up ahead holding up the whole course. Sort of ruined the day.
Course in Excellent Shape but.....
Second time I played this course since they installed new greens. The course was in great shape and the greens were like putting on a carpet. Our 3-some enjoyed playing the course but it was the problem in front of us that made for a very taxing day. As we arrived on the 1st tee we encountered a 6-some on the box. Naturally we thought they would split into 2 3-somes or something like that. To our surprise they went off as a large group and stayed like that through the front nine. Not once did they offer to let us play through. At the turn we met up with 1 of them, waiting for his group on the 10th. He told us if we were ready to hit through. As members of his group arrived we heard some grumbling and figured it wasn't a real popular decision. Around the 14th hole I had a ball come within 3-4" on my head without any warning or apology. The course was enjoyable but the company that we encountered made for a very stressful finish. I know times are tough but the course has to send someone (cart attendants, cashiers, refreshment workers, someone!) to check on the course every 2-3 hours. Speaking for myself, I'll be back but hopefully without the drama. You can't teach golf etiquette but common sense goes a long way.
BEST GREENS IN TOWN!!
Champion greens are by far the best around. Great improvements done over the summer. Played in a skins game Friday morning course was in great shape new owners have made a lot of great improvements. My group is going to enjoy the course for the entire season!!
Temporary Greens
Temporary Greens ... Never pulled out the putter. Fairways were green and in good condition. Ball sat up nicely in fairways. The rough was very rough, old grass clippings and very thick heavy grass. Most tee boxes were perfect but a few were bare. Played very short because of temp greens. Many workers out with machinery working on greens. The course has a lot of potential, not just when the greens come back, but if maintenance was performed on the natural wetlands and wooded areas. Clean up the water features, the surrounding areas, new ball washers and usable towels ... So much potential!
stormflyer,
Did you receive our free golf promotion? We provided this promotion for our golfers the week of your date of play because we're on temporary greens. We are continuously trying to improve the golfer experience as well as the course, which is why we offered the best possible deal during renovations. Come play again soon after we've renovated!
Best regards,
