This Treasure Coast golfing jewel embraces the traditional values of golf course architecture emphasizing shot value, variety and dramatic effect. Meandering through an 800 home residential community, St James offers 4 sets of tees for individual playing ability and a challenging round for all levels. The 6700 yard, par 72 design features 64 dramatic bunkers and 17 water hazards. The club also offers a state-of-the-art practice facility, with natural grass tee, simulated fairway bunker and dedicated short game area with putting green.

The best public course green in the area vey well maintained except the bunkers need work

NOT AS GOOD AS I THOUGHT
I WAS TOLD THE COURSE WAS REDONE AND IN GREAT SHAPE. WELL I PLAYED HERE A FEW YEARS AGO AND I THINK IT WAS BETTER THEN. BUT IT WAS OK, JUST AVERAGE.

Overbooked
Course is in pretty good shape. Greens are very fast and hilly. you want to be below the hole.
Pace of play was terrible. The ranger told us on the second hole that there were 3 foursomes on every hole. Thankfully, the kindly ranger steered us to replay the front nine, which was 5 times faster than following the crowds to the back nine.

Great Greens
The cart and advertising point to a 4 hour round. We played in 4:45...after teeing off 15 minutes late....The course is in fair shape except the greens. The greens are quite fast for this course and the general players it gets. They probably stimped at 11. And the typical player here is accustom to a tad bit slower. I played with 3 people I just met and 3 putt was the norm....hence the long day. It is worth a trip though.

Thank you for the review. We apologize about the slow round. Although we understand our greens do have some speed to them, the "true-ness" of them comes from being fast. We feel fast greens give that tour quality feel which most golfers like to experience from time to time. Give these fast greens a couple more rounds and you will be sinking more putts than you ever thought possible! FAST Greens
Stay below the hole or take your three putts like a man. This course has made a total transformation with the new greens, absolutely true and smooth surface. Great place to play regardless of your skill
level. Number 10 is all you want in a par 4 from the back tees. We love this place and will be back.

Refurbished
I live 3 miles from the course and would not play there due to horrible conditions, particularly the greens and fairways. Since new ownership has come in, both of these problems have been rectified, rather wonderfully.

NEW GREENS
While the new greens were better than most public golf courses they were a little slow.

With the recent rains, the greens are a little slower than normal. Once the weather improves, we'd love to see you out here again and you will hopefully see an increase in green speeds. See you soon.

Course was still wet from all the rain this past week which caused many plugged shots. Greens were in good condition but most tee's had little or no grass. Will probably this course when weather improves.

This course had a lot of slow players today
The greens were much improved from previous outings. The fairways were about the same not too bad. Providing a GPS on the golf course would be a big benefit.

Previous reviews say this course has gone through several improvements in the past year. My first and only play could not confirm this, but it was decent. Fairways were very wet, many tire tracks, but lift and clean worked fine. Greens are challenging, very sloped, but I have played worse.
Price was $54/18 holes w/cart. Florida pricing.

Amazing Greens!!
This course is in the process of being restored. The greens and tee box were re-done 6 months ago. The greens were tour quality. Firm and running about 12.5. I had played a super private club a few days before down here and the greens at this place were better. Its rain a lot down here so the rest of the course was wet. Great value! Nice people!!

Wide open course. The only trouble would be many sand traps.
From the last time we played this course, it was in great shape. The only problem was very fast greens, and pin locations were very tough. I would recommend this course. I would not have done a year ago. Good job with the new owners.

great changes made
what an improvement to this course from last year!!! used to be a pretty shabby place. now, really nice. best bang for the buck of any of the courses in the area. new greens are top notch. fairways getting better and better. rough still needs some work but they re working on that. staff always accomodating and friendly. driving range much improved also. this will be a 5 star course very soon. well worth playing now tho. course is perfect example of what can be done under new ownership. i will be a regular there from now on.

I've played a lot of golf courses in South Florida, the greens at The Champion Turf at St-James golf club are absolutely awesome ...... definitely the BEST greens in all South Florida !!!!! Without a doubt, worth the trip !!!!!

So sad!!
The course should not have opened for play on the day we TRIED to play it!! Almost all the fairways allowing carts on were really too wet there were also perhaps six holes cart path only. Drainage appears poor throughout. Its sad that the damage we saw can never be worth the days revenue. Feet sank into fairways. No one could play well.
