The Club Renaissance
About
The beautifully manicured, par-72 Renaissance Golf Course features two distinctive nines. The front nine has an open links feel to it with wide fairways and greens that will accept bump-and-run approach shots. The back nine requires more accuracy from tee to green as it meanders through a large conservation area. Water comes into play on every hole on the inward nine on this course designed by Chip Powell. Most fairways are lined with stately pines and ancient oaks. The greens at the Renaissance Golf Club are a pleasure to putt. These TifEagle Bermuda grass putting surfaces are state-of-the-art and roll fast.

My dear wife teeing off Photo submitted by strybosch on 02/17/2015
The course is in great shape. Greens are hard and fast. The pace of play was perfect.
Nice track
First time playing here. Thought it had a nice layout with big greens.
Such a great course
Course is in phenomenal condition and is easily the nicest course in the sun city/Ruskin area.
Renaissance A++
From the moment we walked in the Pro Shop you knew it was going to be a good day!
Pro shop staff was very friendly and helpful, (club house is fantastic with a well stocked Pro shop).
Starter was very informative and also very welcoming.
Course was in excellent condition, greens are Firm but true (best we have played so far this season).
We would go back in a heart beat, If you have friends coming too visit, pay a few extra dollars and play the Renaissance Club!
Good, not great
The front 9 felt very vanilla, the back 9 added a bit more interesting design, but overall not the most memorable course we've played. Lack of a practice range or even hitting nets feels like a big miss. The best aspects of the course were 1 - very friendly pro shop staff and 2 - green conditions. The greens are very firm, which can be frustrating but helped make an otherwise ordinary course more interesting.
Definitely Not Elite
THIS GOLF COURSE IS ONE OF THE HIGHEST RATED IN THIS PART OF FLORIDA.
IT HAS NO DRIVING RANGE OR NET TO HIT BALLS INTO.
PACE OF PLAY TODAY WAS AN ABSOLUTE JOKE.
THE PERSON THAT I PAID IN THE PRO SHOP AND THE STARTER DRESSED AS SANTA WERE BOTH TOP NOTCH.
BOTTOM LINE FOR WHAT THEY CHARGE IT WAS A VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE.
The course is in great shape but be careful with that approach shot! The greens are super fast but true.
Long Time No Play
It’s been quite some time since I played Club R. Staff was great as usual…. Pace of play was good even though I was a single behind a foursome. When they stopped at the turn another group was out on 10 and when i got to 11 I realized they were playing as a five-some and were not letting me go so I headed back to the club house and called it a day. The course was in great shape and the greens were super fast. Soft up front but definitely playable…..Wished a ranger had been out there to bust up that five some….
What was the wait for?
The course was closed this year for several months, upon its grand opening, I was anticipating the greens to be in tour shape and the rest of the course to be just as great. That was not to be, the greens are really no better than when they shut the course down. Me and my playing partners during the round were going over the course and decided that the course was not any better and maybe they closed the course just to let it heal. I have always liked the course and the layout is not cookie cutter, so you are challenged from any tee box. The greens are rolling on the quick side, which has always seemed to be the case.
Overall, I would definitely tell anyone to play the course as they will be challenged and entertained.
my only complaint would be to watch how you book with golfnow, they are out to take your money and not do anything to give it back to you, despite their wrongdoing.
Average layout. Excellent clubhouse
Course is forgiving and fair. In decent shape. Large fairways and greens. Average layout. Excellent food in clubhouse. Had a great dinner for very fair prices.
Golf community type course
Several ok courses in this community. This one had no driving range. No GPS on carts. Tees, fairways, and rough in good condition. Greens were healthy but so firm that my best iron shots would bounce and roll off the greens. Aiming short didn’t help because of traps, elevated greens, and soft approach areas.
Pretty straightforward course without a lot of danger. Fixing the greens would make it much more enjoyable.
True Rolling Greens
Greens were excellent and true- no bumps.
Course was in average shape with a unique layout that lends itself to uncharacteristic blind shots for this type of parkland layout.
Worth the price for the greens. pace of play was average. A standard neighborhood course that is reminiscent of other courses in the area.
Thanks for taking the time to review and visit us. We just finished a greens renovation project upon our re-opening last month.
When completing new greens, there are typically firmer to start but are very true and playable. The softness of the greens comes naturally through play. We look forward in hosting you again soon.
