Indian River Preserve Golf Club

I’ve been playing this course since it opened and watched it evolve with a great new clubhouse and restaurant. Very few homes on the course so wildlife is present...likely you’ll see a few alligators here. Some challenging holes with tight fairways, strategically placed bunkers and tricky greens. Some bare areas on some fairways but all in all, good shape. Nice practice area and large putting green. There’s also a “tie breaker” 19th hole if needed.

I’ve been playing this course for years and it still “stings” me sometimes...it starts off with easy holes and progressively gets tougher on the back 9. For now, you’ll only run across a few homes built near the course but there is some development coming in that will be adjacent to a few holes. Otherwise, you will only see natural Florida and its residents. The course is in good shape as well as the greens. Excellent club house with a great restaurant. One of my favorites.

Nice course layout. Bring a range finder, yardages are tricky . The staff is what makes this place. They are helpful and friendly . I will go back due to the exceptional customer service. With some TLC this would be an exceptional course.

Very different then anything else in the county..if u make the right adjustments here you will be fine..

if you are familiar w aussie vernacular, you'll recognize 'winjah' as someone who complains and always has something to gripe about. here's the deal w 'walkabout' - aka indian river preserve - if you are a winjah, or you don't like shooting high scores and losing balls, you will find things to complain about on this course. yes, there are some bare spots in the fairways; yes, some of the tee boxes are a bit rough (but you put it up on a tee, right, so what's the problem?); yes, some of the holes are infuriating, but that's bc they are amazing, pure golf. no houses (yet), great routing and very tough landing areas. you have to hit the right spots on many of the holes or you are looking at a lot of dbls on your card. the type of people who make a lot of dbls and higher will write unfavorable reviews and find every bare spot and every other reason to complain. but if you are a golfer who enjoys a robust challenge and realize that you will hit some wayward drives that should penalize you, then tee it up and have a great round on one of the best tracks around. if you are a winjah, stay away and go play a muni where all the fairways run parallel and you find extra balls! IRP is the real deal for serious golfers who don't need pristine carpets to play on, but love being tested and challenged even if they get dbls!

The layout is interesting. #9 is a unique difficult hole. Fairways were burned out. Greens were in decent shape. I'd play here again if I was in the area....can't beat the price.

We had shied away from playing in February hearing reports of deathly slow greens and other poor conditions. We were pleasantly surprised. The greens were excellent I’d say in the top 10% of the 50 courses I’ve played in FLA this winter

They are obviously struggling with $ to maintain the course like so many other public access courses. Some tees were rough (not all) and the bunkers need some TLC. Other than that the fairways are skinny for grass without overseed but playable. The lay out is very strong. Lots of interesting holes. I had heard it was a hard course and it was. Lots of water There are some tee shots that are just plain “hit the shot or hit the road “!

Even though my score was high from the 6150 tees there were no shots I couldn’t hit but you had to hit it the first time and not as I did so often :)

As I said it is a challenge but I liked every hole. I wish I wasn’t heading north tonight or I would play it tomorrow. Maybe you should for me :)

Always enjoy Indian River. The staff id friendly and helpful. The course is in great shape with very good greens. Highly recommend!

Championship layout & great greens but needs work on fairways & tees. Overall a great course for the avid golfer.

The course is in need of some serious maintenance. Other than the greens the course is in sad shape. The entire fairway and rough areas are a collection of unrepaired divots and wash outs. The entire facility needs to be top dressed and leveled. The moguls are a great addition and should remain because they add character and require shot making to get around the course. I could see evidence of fertilizer, but it won't help the new growth spread out over the hard packed ground.

Until there has been a major effort to repair this course I can not recommend nor will I play this course again.

This golf course is one of the best kept secrets not too far from Orlando. My best friend and I have played there numerous times and have completed many rounds in well under 4 hours. Always in great condition with a welcoming staff. Laurie, in the pro shop, has a "whatever it takes" attitude towards making certain your day on the course is enjoyable and memorable. I highly recommend you try it. You definitely will return.

Went out as a single, played with a local threesome, they gave me my own cart. Course in decent shape, slowish greens, ok fairways and tees. Bunkers could have used some help. Plenty of hazards to avoid, but an interesting layout. Would definitely play again. Played early, only two groups ahead of us, less than four hours.

Played this course for the first time, It is in rough shape. Tee boxes can use work, fairways are bare dirt, need grass, greens are nice, just sanded, a little slow. Bunkers are pretty bad, some are just pits with weeds. Given the conditions I do't see the 4 star ratings??? what is it based on?

I think for the price you can do so much better.

I do like the course layout, some blind shots, forced carries, placement is key on this layout. I would play again if conditions improve (a lot) otherwise I plan to gold elsewhere.

Greens were quite good, but tee boxes needed work as they were very sparse in places. The back nine is a tricky layout where precission is required so choose yOUR tees carefully as there is lots water to contend with. A fun course to play.
