Wedgefield Golf Club
About
The course at the Wedgefield Golf & Country Club, although suitable for all golfers, is most appropriate for intermediate players. The affordably priced Wedgefield Golf Club used to be known as Rocket City and Cape Orlando. The course has a classic-Florida style layout with medium sized greens that are guarded by bunkers and fairways lined with cypress trees. There is water on the golf course but it is not a significant factor in the game. However, there is one hole, the par-3 sixth hole that is surrounded on three sides by water. Wedgefield Golf & Country Club, in addition to the course, has a chipping area and putting green as well as a golf school.

The most improved course in Central Florida that I can afford to play.
Hole-in-the-Wall
This course is unexpectedly pretty good. Although this place seems older, they take care of it and the staff are friendly. There is no starter so make sure you get out before all the regulars take your spot.
Wedgefield works
This is not a top notch country club - but for a round on a decent course at a reasonable price - Wedgefield works. The course is a little crusty around the edges. Tee boxes and fairways are in good condition. Greens are smooth and in very good condition. Water hazards add challenge without intimidating you. Most bunkers need help - mostly black dirt instead of white sand. There is no restaurant, pro shop is a little thin on amenities and the driving range is bizarre - basically a small burned grass hill overlooking a cow pasture. Carts lack GPS. Staff were friendly and helpful - and with no starter - things still ran well.
Course is a gem. Greens in excellent shape with lost of subtle and not so subtle contours. Only problem is pace of play. Course is very busy, and they let out twosome. Not made to double up, and it seems they just do not want to. Pace would be much better if they did. Course is doable in 3:15 to 3:30 without a problem if they did this. I play this course quite often and will be back, but the 4:30 to 4:45 rounds are getting tiresome.
You should go play this course!!!
I came down to Orlando,FL to play golf for a week and this was our first course we played. We played 36 holes here and from the owner Craig and staff member Dana to his grounds crew, they made our play FANTASTIC!!! I would really recommend you going to play this course if you’re coming into Orlando,FL!!! THANKS AGAIN CRAIG!!! The Fellas from Michigan
Great value for the money
If you’re in Orlando it’s not a bad drive and for the money it’s great value. Greens were slow but consistent.
Clise
Ideally, this course deserves a 3.5 rating in its current state. On Friday, late morning….no starter, no renter and no cart girl. You just got v into an informal line up of carts. Singles, Twosome’s, 4 some and even 5 some, nobody cared !! The course itself, could be a very nice course, if somebody really wanted to bring it to the next level. Greens were pretty good and fairways were in decent shape. Everywhere else, nobody!s home. Di I mention the best part…. $50pp on GolfNow.
Good Shape
The fairways and greens are in good condition. Pace of play was great. The Greens are smooth and rolled true. The course has a great mixture of short challenging holes and long holes. We let a single player play through and ended up waiting on the following hole after the group ahead of us did the same. It was the only wait besides hole 10 right after the turn. The only thing missing on this course a 19th hole. The pro shop is selling hot dogs, drinks, and snacks. The course is still a good value for the money. I will play it again.
WONDERFUL
Greens fairways bunkers perfect super deal were other courses charging 90 to 100 dollars you cant beat wedgefield
GREAT CONDITIONS
This is definitely one of the better courses condition-wise in East Central Florida. The tees, fairways and greens were in great condition, especially considering the past freeze and the drought. It is nice to see a course that has a good greenskeeper who cares. This course has been and is consistently in good shape. Highly recommentd.
Good Experience
Great place to play with friends. Course is in better conditions than most of some course in the area.
Out in the Boondocks!
Even though this course it out away from Orlando City Center, it’s a nice track, although not a tourist destination course, its a fun round and plenty of nice people around. Course conditions were relative to the price.. the greens were plenty fast with lots of break. Give it a try! The dude at the counter was great! I had my clubs shipped there and he was great about the whole situation!
Fun course in good shape
This course has a nice layout - not too punishing but still offers some good challenges and opportunities for good scores. The amenities at the clubhouse are a bit limited (cooler drinks and hot dogs are about it). While there was some hesitancy to give us carts when we showed up early, we were given carts. Range balls were a scoop-your-own-basket, but very reasonably priced. The driving range was not distance limited. The putting green was in good shape and matched that of the greens on the course. Despite the recent extreme cold weather, the course was in good shape. Still mostly green grass in the fairways and tee boxes. Greens were very good - rolled well and fewer ball marks than most every course in the area. The fairway bunkers were groomed, but were mostly black, wet dirt. But the bunkers around the green were mostly in good shape - but there were no rakes so you may need to agree to move your ball in advance if you end up in a footprint. Pace was good until we caught up with the earlier tee time foursomes, but even then we moved along with some wait and finished about 4h15m. Didn’t find any deals here, but the regular rate included a nice cart and we all agreed it was well worth the money. Would definitely play here again.
They have grass on the fairway
Yes, they actually have grass on the fairways. Finally, someone who knows how to maintain a golf coarse in the winter. Greens were good, as were the tee boxes. My only complaint is that the bar/restaraunt is no longer open.
