Horrible
I cannot remember playing a course in worse conditions. Whoever is give more than 1 star is delusional. Dirt tee boxes. Fairway’s actually have grass, but are hard. The best part is the greens (said with heavy sarcasm). I was sending pictures to golf buddies on how bad the greens are. Indescribable. They are trying to go out of business so the owner can build condos. I saw 3 singles the whole time. Even passed one because his cart died. I’ve played here for 10+ years, and it is in its worst right now. Avoid unless you just want to get out of the house, better to go pick up trash on the roadside, at least that is a worthwhile endeavor. Very sad what stonybrooke has become.
you call those greens??
By far the worse greens you will ever see. Tee boxes were in bad shape and fairways were below average. this course needs some serious help if they plan on staying around...
Hurting a bit
Like most courses, Stony Brook is suffering in the weather…. too much rain too much heat …greens are messed up quite a bit but still puttable. The fringe was really deep needed mowing but otherwise it was OK.
Bad greens
Greens were out of shape and a lot of dead patches on them
Terrible
This used to be a great course. The conditions are now deplorable. I can’t begin to describe how bad every aspect of the course was. 17 of 18 greens diseased. Can’t tell where rough and fairway seperate. Crabgrass has taken over everywhere. Forget hitting a true putt. Obvious that they haven’t watered enough. Was a top notch course twenty years ago. Now it needs to be plowed under. Disgusted that management would sell this to the public.
Disgusted
Worst conditioned course I have ever played. The upkeep, or should I say neglect, that the course presented, was appalling. This course used to be a gem and a must play because of the layout. Presents a good and fair test of your game. As it is now, I’ll never play there again. 17 of 18 greens were diseased. The course was dry beyond repair. Couldn’t tell where the rough started and the fairways began. The tee boxes were dirt. Just a shame how the owner has let this course go. Do yourself a favor, spend your money Anywhere else.
Disappointing
I had good expectations for this place. Had a nice looking club house and pretty well stocked with golf equipment. The staff was friendly from the start and the range was really nice,.... That's were it all ended... The first couple holes seemed ok but it went really down hill. The fairways where ok but around the green felt like I was hitting off concrete. the greens as we described was like hitting on the moon there were so many "craters". It's ashame because the layout was good, the scenery was great, and greens showed lots of movement, when you could find enough grass to hit it. The pace of play was OMG, was the longest rd I ever played by FAR! There was no cart girl at all. After I thought I'd at least get a bite to eat and see how that went.... no food no restaurant.... I played with some locals that had mentioned the owner owned another course that had closed down already, I dont' think this one could be to far behind. I'm bye far not a pro but this is the first course I have no desire to go back to. Please get your act together.
not great
this course, like some, has it's ups and downs..crrently the greens are not in good shape...when it is wet like yesterday, they don't mow the rough and finding a ball a few feet off a fairway is difficult...call first to see about a high school golf team that practices there....their walking foursomes are tough to play through and move slowly...this is absolutely not a course to walk, way too much distance between greens and next tee box...if you are nearby, give it a try but I would not travel much distance as it is just not that good
what a friendly experience!
I really love this golf course! the people that work there are amazing and friendly! I have been coming to this course for 5 years and will keep coming! thank you to all who works there
Great Value
Friendliest staff in central Florida from top to bottom. For what you pay, the course is a good value.
Needs Major Maintenance
Staff is 5 stars, unfortunately the course needs major changes and maintenance.
Played this course a couple of years and I really did not recognize the course until number 16, which is an impossible hole for an average golfer. That’s when I remembered that I played it. I know summers are rough on golf courses in Florida but most of the round is playing on the hard pan, if you hit the fairway . course was in much better shape a couple of years ago.
Nooe
Living between here and twin rivers, I'd usually split my playing time. Stoneybrook a little more expensive, but I can get 18 in after work because it's always wide open. TR on the weekends when I have time for the slower pace. Course conditions were usually about the same. That time has passed. Half the greens are gone. Tee boxes are gone. I just can't justify paying more for this anymore. Especially when twin rivers fairways and greens have improved lately as much as stoneybrook has deteriorated. Sad to see.
