The Palmer Course is one of two golf courses at La Cantera Resort, it is named after its famous designer, golf legend Arnold Palmer. Firmly situated on 225 acres of Texas Hill Country, the golf course features plenty of elevation changes to keep golfers on their toes. There is also an abundance of mature oaks covering the course, requiring accuracy off the tees. The unique layout incorporates dramatic waterfalls, lakes, and numerous white sand bunkers throughout. La Cantera Resort’s Palmer Course has several signature holes, most notably the fourth hole. This demanding par 3 requires a long carry over a lake with waterfalls along the front of the green.

First timer at Palmer course
Very hilly layout. A bit too much for my taste. Several blind shots. Course was in great shape ans staff was excellent. I’ll come again but I prefer the resort course
Good test of golf
Challenging layout in a beautiful setting. I would not hesitate to recommend this course.
Highest elevation in SA
Playing the Palmer will treat you to views you will get no where else in the city. More room than it looks if you miss in the correct spots on course. Tee boxes were the only concern. Some seem to get tons of Play. Everything else was fantastic. Go play. You’ll enjoy your day!
GEM . . . Outside of San Antonio
1st time visit. . . Entire staff is extremely courteous and friendly!! The track is terrific . . . Course knowledge is desirable as there are several blind tee shots! Front 9 in the valley, back nine on the upper plateau! Great vistas for your viewing pleasure! Course is very fair but can bite you if not accurate off the tee. Fairways are recovering from winter weather. Greens were in good shape, a tad slow, but again recovering from unexpected winter weather. Would definitely play again when in town! Take the time and enjoy!
Never Fails To Deliver
Every time I play here I have a great time and are treated great by the staff. They’re friendly and always go the extra mile to make sure I’m taken care of. I highly recommend you play here.
Outstanding course. They appear to not oversees for the winter, so the fairways were brown. Great elevation changes and scenery.
One of the Best in Texas
Tris si one of the best golf courses in San Antonio and Texas. Very challenging with high hills and steep slopes.
My only recommendation would be to provide the tool and ask to all golfers to do their sand traps, as a courtesy to the next golfer is playing.
Resort golf with a challenge
The Palmer course is a great challenge. Not for the faint hearted or beginner golfer. Many twists and turns and changes in elevation. Heavy bush on either side of the fairway making it important to hit straight and know your club distances.
There were numerous holes where we wanted to go back and play it again cause only discover the surprises of the hole after you play it.
Overall a great course and well worth the cost.
