The Lakes at Barcelo Bavaro Golf Course is an 18-hole championship course that opened in 1991. The golf course is set in a prime location on the eastern coast of the Dominican Republic, boasting a long expanse of pristine coastline on the glittering Caribbean Sea.
The Lakes at Barcelo Bavaro Golf Course, designed by architect Juan Manuel Gordillo, borders a picturesque lake and winds through lush tropical vegetation, providing inspiring views at every hole. It is a combination of holes bordered by thick vegetation and others completely open.

Surprisingly beautiful course
The green fee was lower than courses we played (Hardrock, Iberostar and Cocotal). As first, we thought the course must be a so-so, matches with its low price. It turned out this is the best of the 4 courses we played in Dominican Republic. Condition was great, very interesting and variation of layout with combination of water, bunkers etc. Hole 9 was particularly interesting if your ball ends up in the bunker - so don't ! Another must play course.
Average course!
Course was included in our stay, however $65 for half a cart. Ok layout but nothing out of the ordinary!
Great course to play
The Lakes course at Bavaro Beach is a real gem. A typical Dye course with its ondulating greens, hidden bunkers and easy roll offs if you are not carefull. Not a long course but very tricky. Lots of water but does not really come into play. Watch out for the bunkers on 5 and good luck with #9. Overall a great place to play. Staff was wonderful. We had a staff member pick us up every morning with a cart at our room and drop us off after our game.
