Hard Rock Golf Club at Cana Bay

About
The Hard Rock Golf Club at Cana Bay is situated along the white sand shores of the stunning mangrove-lined Macao Beach, conveniently located near the Punta Cana International Airport. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, the golf course is yet another outstanding design in his repertoire. Nicklaus carefully preserved the rich natural surroundings to ensure that the beauty of the Dominican landscape was kept at the forefront. The layout's rolling fairways and greens weave through native flora and fauna, providing golfers with a truly unique round in a tropical setting. There are expansive lakes that come into play on several holes as well as numerous strategically placed bunkers throughout.

Great day at Hard Rock
Okay....so I have played a lot of resort golf and this course would rate among the top I have played....but what this course has that others do not is a an amazing service culture and an all inclusive experience. Once we checked in we did not need to touch our wallets again (except to tip). All our drinks. All our snacks and sandwiches included. What an awesome concept. Greens were tough to read due to all the subtle slopes and Mr. Nicklaus certainly loves to play some mind games visually with us.
One improvement I would ask for is a bit of
Wind indication as many holes are protected and it is not until the ball is above the trees that you get a real sense of wind direction.
This is a pretty tough golf course. But I would definitely play it again
Kahnawake
Good condition .pace is good .food is not so good.
Fun Time, Well Kept, but Over Priced
My wife and I booked this excursion to play golf at Hard Rock during our honeymoon in Punta Cana. The excursion was very well ran as the pick up and drop off went very smooth which is not guaranteed in foreign countries with excursions such as this. The golf course itself was very nice, well kept, and they had friendly staff tending to our needs.
However, I only gave this golf excursion 4 stars because of 2 complaints:
1) Their pictures advertise that the course is alongside the ocean. However, we played all 18 holes and not one hole was alongside the water. This was a huge bummer for us, as golfing alongside the ocean is a rare event we were hoping to experience.
2) This excursion was a bit overpriced. It was already slightly more expensive than a couple of the other local courses, but then they also charged very high rates ($50) to rent a set of clubs and to purchase balls.
Overall we had a great time at a nice course but we would probably try a different course if we were to go back.
Green is where it gets you
Typical resort course with wide fairways. However, the potato chip green is where it's interesting. Putt to win! Must play.

Absolutely stunning! Arrive early because there is a lot to take advantage of! Carts were equipped with GPS giving location, suggestions for shots, and accurate distances for approach shots!
Impressed and pleasantly surprised.
I visited the Hard Rock Punta Cana for my sisters wedding. Due to the fact that I was pretty short on free time I tried to play golf in the early mornings at approximately 7am. I recommend taking the golf cart over at least an hour before your tee time to utilize the practice facilities. They have a full driving range, short iron area, chipping area, bunker and putting area. A previous reviewer stated that the carts did not have GPS but they do. They must have been recently installed. They are accurate and useful.
The course itself is in great condition. The conditions were by no means fast but they were very adequate. The greens were cut well and rolled pretty true, especially for a Bermuda hybrid grass. The only few downsides to the course is the layout. I would have loved an ocean hole and a few more water holes. There are at least 2 drivable par 4's which make the course interesting. The 9th and 18th are both nice finishing holes however they are rather similar dog leg rights with water to the right. Overall, for the price, convenience and location I would definitely play again, especially when staying at the hard rock. As for the ultimate places to play, the DR has much more to offer.
MY favourite course in the DR
This is a long, beautiful course. This course proved to be quite challenging for me. For someone with my handicap, the greens were very difficult, but I managed to hole a few putts for birdie.
They keep the course in great conditions and you rarely see someone else playing it, even if it is at full capacity. I loved playing it and recommend it to anyone.
Hard Rock Golf
Played here twice during our stay. The course is challenging, with long par 4s and if you miss most fairways, your ball is in the jungle (you'll never find it, nor will you want to forage in and try). Greens are firm and don't hold shots well. Best to bounce the ball onto them. Greens were true.
We were a bit concerned that there were armed guards at a few places around the course. The drink cart was filled with great drinks.
Just another golf course
If I'm a golfer who is paying Caribbean prices to play golf, I want more than the Hard Rock Golf Club offers. When I played the Hard Rock Golf Club in October of 2011, it felt like just another flat Florida golf course to me. It's probably the least enjoyable Jack Nicklaus course I've come across in all my travels. Water and bunkers and jungle will challenge you but there's nothing really inspiring about the layout or the scenery. Snowbirds who are seeing green grass for the first time during the winter months will love it. There's wide fairways and secluded holes through the jungle. But if you're looking for a more engaging experience, pay the extra money for the cab ride to Punta Cana to discover why the Dominican Republic is so good for golf. Two top 10 Caribbean courses, Punta Espada and Corales, are worth the trip.
