The Tribute Golf Club - Old Course

About
A Scottish-themed, links-style track that plays along the shores of Lake Lewisville, The Tribute one-ups the Tour 18 approach of modeling the world’s finest golf holes. Patterned his design after the revered holes of St. Andrews, Troon, Prestwick, etc., Tripp Davis created an immaculate track that rolls over terrain strikingly similar to the dunes and grasses over the Atlantic.
From the tips the course plays to a par 72 7,002 yards, but its most strikingly entertaining feature is its playability from the forward tees. In total, four sets of tees are available to even things out for the high handicappers.
St. Andrews is well represented on the first and last holes at The Tribute, where they offer the world’s largest fairway as a great way to start and finish your round.
Other notes: Don’t forget to inquire about the club’s seven guest rooms and available stay-and -play packages. The facility has hopes of opening another 18 and an adjoining hotel sometime in the near future.
Getting there : From 75 Expressway, take Hwy. 121 west to 423 (main street of The Colony). Turn right (north) to Boyd Road. Turn left, then drive 2.5 miles to the clubhouse.

Crazy slow
Had a tee time for 3:30PM assuming 4.5 hours would be plenty of time to get 18 in....I was wrong. After over 4 hours we only got through 14 holes. Course was in good shape and would have been a good time if we weren’t constantly waiting. One of the staff members informed me they cut the spacing down to 7 Mins in the afternoon so don’t book a tee time after noon.
Should have told me that greens are not bent anymore
Nice weather
Slow round
The most that upset me that the greens are not Bent anymore. But not anywhere that mention about it
Tribute Review
Great links course layout. New greens this year. In great condition.
Tribute is in great shape
Tribute currently is in great shape. Greens a little fuzzy and slow. winds make course challenging and even more enjoyable. True test of links golf. Play it u won't regret it.
New Greens Roll Nicely
Played as a twosome on Saturday with a late morning tee time. I have always enjoyed the track and its homage to Scottish golf holes and was excited to see the conversion to Bermuda hybrid on the greens. The greens were in great shape and rolled nicely.
The simulated fescue rough was quite thick so bring extra balls. To be fair it takes a real miss to lose a ball.
Would like to see a more frequent cart service for a high end course.
Very much like the conversion of the pro shop into a golf course facing 19th hole. Bar service was excellent.
Wow
Totally exceeded expectations. The most friendly staff from bag drop to the lady who meets you with the cold towel on 18 and offers to clean your clubs. The closest we will ever come to playing St. Andrews. Very challenging and enjoyable. We WILL be back....
Great Track
The Tribute is an absolutely amazing place to play. Faster play needs addressing but the views-layout makeup for the slow pace. I highly recommend the course to anyone looking for a links style to play.
Great Course
First time playing and it was well worth it!! The course conditions were just fantastic from the fairways to the greens. I would recommend....only issue was pace of play 5 hours to play! We had to wait on every hole!!
Great Shape
Course just reopened so the amount of play is high. The new greens installed are really good and the rates are a great value. I love playing a course that's on a lake and not a home in sight. Play this course and you'll love it.
Difficulty with pace and rudeness
Was very very excited to get to the tribute after the green renovations and the work they put into the course ... and the course did not fail to impress ... the pace of play and dealing with telling the golf shop via phone call and then talking with the Marshall was a whole other story. We were a three some and had to finally jump a hole and miss out on a hole just to be able to finish at a decent time ... when we tried to discuss the situation we were discounted and told "I talked with them " ... this is not a way that you should handle a $100 good course ... marshalls are there to control pace move people and keep pace up ..this is not a muni this is a serious course ... just upsetting cause I thought they up'd their game .. I guess not ... so ... disappointed ... very very much
Wait until the Re open!!
I would normally recommend The Tribute, but, and it's a Big But, they ran a Seniors special for $29. A lot of people came out to play. The only thing they did not mention was they will soon close the course and renovate all 18 greens. They must not be watering the fairways they were dried out. Made for poor conditions at one of my favorite courses. I'm told they plan on re opening sometime in September. Needless to say, it was no fun to play. Nine holes was all I could take. Wait until they reopen.. Sorry Chip.
Wait until Fall to play this course
First and foremost, the greens are atrocious. They'll soon be replaced, but a warning or a disclaimer would have been appreciated. Save your money and go to a putt-putt course instead - you'll get a truer role there through the clown's mouth.
The pace of play was good and the staff was nice. But I don't advise paying to play here until they open after the greens are rebuilt, which I don't like saying because it really is a fun course.
The Tribute
The course is closing in early June to re-do the greens. With that being said the course was in decent shape EXCEPT the greens. I would wait until the course reopens in early fall to play.
Great Potential
Love the layout, history & staff, HOWEVER, the Greens were HORRIBLE! Starter mentioned before we began that they were ripping the greens up next week & will be closed for 3 months. Wish I'd known that the greens were in such bad shape, we would've opted for another course.
Sincerely,
Disappointed
Course was in horrible shape. Droning range was hitting off dirt. Greens were horrible, worsted greens ever. Paid $75 to play a goat ranch. Head pro is a jerk. Was one of my favorite courses have plaid it 50+ times. I will not be back. Ownership and leadership has ended it for me. Other courses in Dallas are in awesome shape. Should fire staff and start over. A real shame.
Fun layout to play
A great course that will be even better when they reopen with their new greens later this summer. The greens looked bad but putted okay. I will definitely try and play again once they reopen.
The course is really cool and unique
However the greens were a bit rough l, but rest of the course was flawless
