No sand in bunkers, recently punched and sanded greens not mentioned when booking.
Come back
This used to be one of my favorite courses. It went through some rough times for a couple seasons. I played there recently and the staff is is doing a great job in trying to bring it back. It's at about 85%-90% in my opinion. Bunkers need help. I will definitely be going back to play and show support for this course!
Course has potential.
I think you should go back to 2 flags. Course is in decent shape. Greens are spongy and slow, so maybe increase firmness? Great value .
Improved conditions (for now?)
Nice to have improved conditions. Worth the rate walking. But not sure what to expect when Yolo Flyers' doesn't provide maintenance anymore since Wild Wings expects mgmt companies to bid July 1st to Yolo County who owns the land and Flyers takes off. We'll surely see! Drinks & snacks (snacks only) are only in the proshop. Don't recall water jugs on #4 & # 7 as in the past.
Excellent Improvement
This course has made significate improvements on the fairways & greens with temporary help from Yolo Fliers' Maintenance Crew. Fliers' next step is work on the bunkers. Apparently July 1st bids will be accepted from various golf mgmt companies for someone to come in & run the place. But for now, it's nice to play for the value although keep in mind it's still a work in progress. I'll be back to check the status periodocally by playing. Very happy for the changes so far and hope the best for their overall success.
Give it Time
The course is currently looking for a new owner and management company. Kemper Sports, the previous management company, left the course to die.
The course has a lot of potential but as of yesterday, May 24, 2024, it has a way to go to being a great place to play. A local golf club has been working on the course and the greens are coming around. They recently punched and sanded them so an effort is being made to bring the course back.
The sand traps are void of sand right now, but I was told they are going to work on them next. The lakes are pretty much dry and with the County currently in control of the course, who knows if and when they will be filled.
The fairways are playable, but there are a lot of burnt spots where we either hit off dirt, or moved our ball to closest grass.
Our cart was clean, well-maintained, and fully charged. There were plenty of carts available so access was not an issue.
The food/beverage building is closed right now, but I hear there are plans to reopen it at some point. They have an alcohol license, but do not sell alcohol for now.
The staff was super nice and straight forward when I spoke with them about the current conditions and the future. Only time will tell what plays out with the course. I hope for the best and fear for the worst. It would be a shame if it were to close.
Overall, I would play it again for the price we paid. The layout was fun with three par 3s, three par 4s, and three par 5s. The fairways are wide and par 3s are challenging.
Love this course
played as a birthday gift with my wife.
Kudos to .Wild Wing staff from an ex 80+ Olympia Fields caddy.
Excellent Greens and Fairways, new golf carts, friendly staff beautiful surroundings including happy hour@Bella Siena downtown Woodland
Great bang for your buck
Course was a little soggy in areas but that's expected after a storm. Greens were solid all the way around. Fairways had good bounce and roll. Tee boxes were solid too. Bunkers need help, little over grown grass in the bunkers but if you stay out of the bunkers you're fine. Golf carts are nice. It's a fine course with great customer service. Lots of potential for this course and I look forward to catching a quick 9 here again.
Very Unhappy with Staff
Was told all of the Gift Cards my family bought me with their hard earned money were no good anymore. That another course or the city bought Wildwings GC and in the transition GC balances were lost. Was told that there was nothing they could do and pretty much chalk it up as a loss. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. why would a customer have to take the loss on a deal between two businesses that had IT issues?????
*I've played this course over 50 times in the past BUT will never play there again* 👎🏻
Needs a little help
I have played this course for years. It's fun to play and gives you a lot of room off the tee. The course has gone through some management changes recently, and they are working on bringing the greens back to a high level. The staff are great and very friendly, and I encourage people to go play there and help them keep the course going.
Save your money
Not sure what is going on with the green, no where was it stated that it was under repair so they added a hole for a pin in the middle of the fairways.
Yup you read that right, putting on the fairways
I wouldn’t be so upset if they told us before hand. Had 2 slow parties ahead of us and no Marshall around to speed things up.
That isn’t even the worst part, we had the sprinklers turn on twice while playing.
I’ve played some poor courses but nothing like this.
Greens under repair
Greens under repair so they put the pin like 30 yards from the green….had a giant pin cup…putting from the fairway….for a second we thought we stumbled across a soccer golf course….
I wouldn’t have played if I was informed by golf now or even the cashier that this was happening!
I would’ve waited until the greens were repaired and to make matters worse the sprinklers turned on while we were playing.
Overall waste of money…call and ask if the pin is on the actual green before coming here because it was ridiculous.
Cashier was super nice but let me know what’s going on in your course 😭
